We mentioned it a number of times, even wrote it on our contract, then mentioned it again that I have a severe allergy to lilies. I come in for my wedding and start feeling sick, my eyes start hurting, I start having difficulties breathing, and here they are - they completely ignored the request and decorated our entire Chuppah with lilies. Our wedding party was awesome. They removed these damn flowers and called Fortune Flowers requesting to fix it immediately. It took me, also my mother in law and my husband (who apparently had a reaction to them as well) a few hours until we stopped feeling sick.

It was the same girl (I think her name was Olya) that made my bouquet, and the arrangement was as beautiful as the first time. My problem is with the bald guy (I think his name was Boris) that runs the place. While Olya was making my bouquet, I asked Boris if he could break a $20 bill. He (reluctantly) agreed, as if I wasn't a customer and just came in to break a bill, so I handed him $20. He looks at it for no more than 2 seconds and says (very confidently and nonchalantly), "it's a fake". For a second I get embarrassed, take it back and look at it myself. It looked worn out and had the texture as such, but when I brought it to the light it definitely had all the elements needed for it to be real, so I asked him to check with a marker. He said he didn't have one and then continued to prove to me that it's fake by showing me a fake $20 bill of his own. This bill actually looked and felt fake, yet not worn out and when brought to the light had none of the crucial elements that my bill had. At that point I said fuck it, and just handed him another $20. Guess what?! He had a problem with that one as well. No, not because it was "fake", but because it was a little ripped on the side. He said, "I'm sorry, but no one is going to take that from me". By this point I had so many mixed emotions inside of me, I was ready to just leave without the flowers. Instead, I finally found a crisp $20 bill and gave it to him. The irony of it all was that I needed to break that $20 to give it to Olya as a tip. To convince myself (or prove him right) I went to the bank to check the validity of the bill. To no surprise at all, they tell me, "it's a little worn out, but definitely real!" And just for shits and giggles I asked them if the ripped $20 bill was good to use. And once again, to no surprise, they told me that it was perfectly fine. In fact, they took them both and gave me two fresh $20 bills. In conclusion, Olya is a very talented florist, who deserves to be working in a much better establishment. I took one star off for embarrassing me with the first bill, then one for the other, and another one for wasting my time going to the bank to reassure myself. If I could, I'd give 1 star to the place and 5 to Olya. I don't know if I'll be coming back here, but if I do, hopefully I'm not going to have the same experience. P.S. don't come here if you don't have crisp bills.

Located in a rather hodge podge set of buildings in midtown Manhattan is Alisan Florist. This…read morerelatively small store front is a welcome respite from the corner delis with flowers that litter the area. Instead, what you get here are gorgeous flowers and plants that are fresh and smell great. The shop is beautifully laid out. When you walk in, the order counter and cashier are to the right. To the left is a wide variety of flowers and plants. Beyond that is a prep area with even more selection. The family that runs this shop is ultra friendly and very good at putting together arrangements. I've gone in and picked one flower, asked for a bouquet assembled with it as a centerpiece and they've never disappointed. If you're lucky, you may even get to meet one of the family dogs that hangs out at the shop every now and then (and they too are super friendly). The flowers aren't cheap here, but you're in midtown Manhattan so expecting a cheap florist is like expecting cheap (non street meat) food. I'm more than willing to pay for great service and high quality product and Alisan is a great reminder of that.

They do not give you packets of "flower food", but they do give some advise on how to keep the flowers somewhat longer. They have plenty of bouquets and I wish they had just as much variety when it came to flowers that you can put together yourself. By the way... the entrance is not on Broadway. I expected to receive exactly what was advertised in both quality, color, and arrangement. Instead, what my mother received looked completely different. The roses delivered were peach-colored, not pink, and the arrangement did not look like the picture shown on the website at all. Peach is not pink, and this was not a slight shade variation, it was an entirely different color. The flowers did not resemble the advertised product I ordered. I accidentally selected the following week for delivery instead of Mother's Day weekend, but I caught the mistake the very same day and immediately called the store. I explained the error and clearly stated that if they could not accommodate a Mother's Day delivery, they could simply cancel the order. I was told it was absolutely no problem and that they could accommodate it, so there was no issue with timing. The real issue came when I called to ask why peach roses were sent instead of the pink roses I specifically ordered. The man who answered said he was the owner, and instead of professionally addressing the concern, his first comment was a snarky remark asking if I was the one who "ordered last minute." This was unnecessary and inaccurate since I had corrected the delivery date the same day I placed the order and was assured it would not be a problem. He then told me he chose the "pink shade" he thought was best to send. Peach roses are not pink roses, and I did not ask for him to make that decision for me. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, apologizing, or offering a proper resolution, he became rude and dismissive. He asked if the problem was that my mother didn't like them or if I didn't like them, completely missing the point. He then states if she doesn't like it we can go and pick the flowers up and this is after they had already been delivered, which is both impractical and disrespectful. I also explained that I had previously worked with someone else at the store who kindly sent me photos of the pink rose options they had in stock so I could confirm the exact shade before delivery. Instead of appreciating that effort, he responded by saying she "went above and beyond" and that they are not supposed to do that. Sending two quick photos when a customer is ordering from out of state is not extraordinary customer service, it is basic professionalism. If a florist cannot provide the exact color or arrangement being advertised, the professional thing to do is call the customer and allow them to decide how they would like to proceed. You do not make substitutions income without approval especially when I spoke to someone at their store regarding the pink shade and then argue when the customer questions it. What is the point of showing customers pictures of specific arrangements on your website if you are just going to send whatever you want? If you cannot provide what is being advertised, you should communicate that first instead of deciding for the customer. This entire experience was disappointing, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I paid for pink roses and received peach-colored roses that looked nothing like what I ordered. The owner's rude attitude and refusal to acknowledge the mistake made the situation even worse. I would not recommend this florist based on both the product quality and the unacceptable customer service.

He is laid to rest in a mausoleum at the nearby cemetery, so this was already an emotional visit for us. The woman working had an incredibly rude and dismissive attitude. Instead of offering help or ideas, she abruptly told us that we needed to "know what we want." We were taken aback by her tone and explained that we were hoping for guidance. After all, she is the flower expert. Rather than assisting, she continued to be curt and unhelpful. What made this especially upsetting is that we have shopped here before and always received kind, thoughtful service. Today was the complete opposite. There was no empathy, no professionalism, and no attempt to help customers who were simply trying to honor a deceased loved one. We ultimately left without flowers and with a very bad taste in our mouths. Someone with this level of poor manners and lack of compassion should not be interacting with customers, especially in a business that serves people during emotional moments.
