(He's the first person I met when visiting Rochester almost six years ago. He's come full circle coming back to this area. He's an excellent stylist and colorist. This place is lovely, the color scheme is shades of gray and it's kind of sleek. I got a tour and saw the treatment rooms for facials and massage (the massage therapist I hear works at Strong as a medical massage therapist so she knows her stuff) the facialist has been doing her trade for about 30 years so she knows her stuff. You make an appointment so she can determine what is needed to give you your very best facial. I think this is an excellent idea as most people when the come for a facial of course fill out a form but you really don't go over things until you are on the table so to speak. Due to Covid you will be asked to fill out a simple form and your temperature taken. Everything is disinfected including the chair and sink where your hair is washed. You can get manicures and pedicures. Also from what I read they do eye brows, waxing an spray tanning. It's a great little place with a lovely staff. You are warmly greeted and even though it's different with Covid it's still a pleasant experience. I need to try a facial. Prices are fair.. any questions contact them they are very helpful. Just stating that I stand by my experience of this salon having creepy vibes and that the hairdresser showed up late and tried to take as much of my money as possible and then tried to get it back when I got it refunded correctly the first time. Lol. Please refund me for the haircut and I'll take this down, I'll say a prayer in Jolie's name, anything, don't care. please just release me from this loop. I want to forget I ever went here. -- One more update as the salon hs threatened us with legal action because of a yelp review... But really threatening legal action over a bad yelp review seems a bit extreme to me. I really am pursuing a partial refund for services I was charged for unknowingly and the tip. When I asked for a refund on those charges she offered to give me a bottle of shampoo. I am not even requesting a full refund. I feel that is more than fair and the stress that this has caused is just crazy. My service was ~30 minutes long and I felt totally comfortable for the duration. Nitty Gritty goes out of their way to ensure their salon is an LGBTQ+ safe space - there's specific information on waxing if you're transitioning, an ask for pronouns at the time of registration, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for all. This alone will keep me coming back and supporting, but the fact that the service is so top notch is a nice added bonus. The reviews don't lie, Nitty Gritty is the best. Just what I needed. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. As a result. I cannot get any injections, chemical peels, or anything that is not hydrating or natural, while in chemo. Which was a devastating blow to my confidence. I assumed that meant, I would look 10 years older, in a year. Also the chemo is making my face break out. Talk about a huge whammy! Mallory did a wonderful hydrating facial, with Papaya enzymes and lipids. My skin feels and looks amazing! This is now part of my regular rotation. Nothing zaps collagen from your face than chemo. I plan on living through this and fighting hard. But whether I end up in a coffin or continuing to live my best life. I still want to feel pretty. I have a membership through this business and it has been so worth it. Today my service was free. Just because they wanted me to feel pampered. Not only was it a sweet gesture, but smart business.
