Went in having done some research about e-bikes, and left with much more color and understanding of the differences that will help make our choice easier! Seems like this group is all passionate about biking and they really have a good sense of how to customize the bikes for everyone's personal best ride. So happy we went in to visit! read more

Took my E Bike in for tuneup service and tire change. Mike, states Bike was fine and the tire was fine. Took the bike home, the chain came off track and the next morning the tire was flat, again. Called to discuss the problem and got a rude and unresponsive rep from the company. I cannot imagine they will be in business much longer with that kind of customer engagement. read more

I'll start by saying that I Prefer mom and pop bike stores vs big box stores like this, so I never went in ElectriCity bikes (Citybikes) the many times I have passed them. What brought me yesterday (6/11) in was an issue with my rear wheel wobbling while riding, and I thought it was going to come off. Luckily they were on way back home. I take my bike in, and firstly, I'm greeted as soon as I walk in. I tell the employee(didn't get her name) my issue. She introduces me to Mike, and I explain my issue to him. ON THE SPOT, he saw part of my concern and he immediately got on the floor and started to tighten spokes for me, and even tightened my Bike rack. He tells me what is wrong and what I needed to do to fix it- He advised me, its ride-able (after his adjustments) but you should get it looked at. I immediately know that I want to give this place my business so, I ask him to service it fully so that it will be good to ride. Normally I would have my bike mechanic take a look, but the "good will" gesture (him making adjustments for me w/o any talk of charging) from Mike made me want to bring my business here. My takeaway- This place puts RIDERS and customers FIRST, Mike could have easily said well I have to charge you to even look at it [Like FRESH BIKES would have, even with no customers ever in their store] but no, Mike got on the ground and serviced it on the spot (minor adjustments) so that I could ride it home. Also, I love how they(Employees) interact with each other and how they all seem to have a great bond. It may be a big box store, but it definitely has a family and welcoming feel. KUDOS to management and thank you for putting Riders and Customers first. I actually head up a sizable biking group and will definitely look to collaborate with this store in some way. Keep up the good work team. read more

Like an idiot, I left the battery charger for my wheelchair's e-powered Firefly attachment at home in California. Running on the few remaining sparks, with two more days of sightseeing and two airports to traverse, I was freaking out until I found this place. Chad was extremely kind and helpful. He somehow back-charged my battery and within 40 minutes saved my ass and our vacation. Thank you! Drinks are on me, Chad, anytime you visit Santa Monica. read more

I am writing this review in praise of this wonderful neighborhood bike shop. They have a wide selection of bicycles, a capable staff of mechanics, and everything else you could need in terms of parts and accessories. In addition to all this--which one would expect of any shop--they go above and beyond to make their customers happy. After having a piece stolen from my bicycle last week, I took it into the shop to get it fixed. In spite of the fact that the theft wasn't the fault of the bike shop, Kyle (the owner) replaced the stolen part and fixed my bike, and all for free! I will never take my bike anywhere else. read more

I walked in today on a beautiful spring day to the store, following the large welcome sign up the steps and stepped into the store through the wide open doors. Only to be rudely and obnoxiously admonished by a young, clearly privileged employee, who shooed me out saying they weren't allowing anyone into the store. He then asked if I wanted to buy a specific model. When I said I wanted to browse and learn about their offerings, he again asked me to leave and pointed to a sign outside and asked me to text the store. I have no issues with Covid precautions - to the contrary - but I do have an issue with being treated rudely. And when you are brown and overweight, you can't help noticing that most of the positive reviews here are by customers who appear white. These included some who said they felt safe indoors because of the store's Covid mask policy. Go figure! I haven't given up on researching an electric bike to buy, but I guess I will spend my time elsewhere. Unfortunate! read more

I went to this shop to ask a simple question cause I'm new to the ebike world, but he was the most snobby guy in the world I did not know these ebike sellers are so nasty I have a emotorcycle and was thinking about a regular ebike but not from that dark depressed place how are they still open. Maybe he only caters to a certain type so I will take my business elsewhere read more

What a great Store The most professional staff ever dealt with clearly ahead of the curve I was not aware of some of the amazing advances that I've seen here in electric bicycles they have the best selection from German to English imported E-bikes read more

This bike store has an incredible selection electric bikes. There are also extremely knowledgeable. I have owned several electric bike for a few years, so I know first-hand. The service department was excellent as well, my brother dropped off my bike for a tune up and it was not clear what needed to be done. ElectriCity Bikes was very fair with me and did an exceptional job for a very fair price. I can't say enough good things about this bike shop! Check it out for yourself read more

My husband did a lot of research on electric bikes before we decided to purchase them. He was convinced that ElectriCITY Bikes had the best selection of e-bikes in the metro DC region. The employees there could not have been more helpful or patient with us as we test drove a number of different bikes and models. They answered all of our questions with a high degree of proficiency and knowledge of the various bikes in their inventory. After nearly three hours of testing and asking many questions, we finally decided on the Gazelle Arroyo electric bikes (and we couldn't be happier)! Bottom line... if you are in the market for an electric bike, visit ElectriCITY Bikes and we guarantee you won't be disappointed. Special thanks to Owner Charlie, GM Kyle and Store Manager Chad for making us such satisfied customers. read more

I met Chad (an Oregon transplant) and can't say I've met a more affable and stand up guy. He is clearly an expert in the field and is more than happy to ask questions related to what is the next big thing for us DC bike commuters. The Tenleytown area where the shop is located has some biggies in the hill department. Having a shop that lets you peruse the best rated bikes in the industry is excellent. My test ride on one of the belt drive models definitely gave me incentive to shift from the DC metro hustle. The bike has lights, fenders and even a lock all included. Without having to worry about grease on my work clothes this belt drive option wasn't even on my radar as I stopped in to get out of the heat. read more

Left my bike for what should have been an easy tune-up in Tenleytown. Over the week and a half that they had it, they installed faulty/sticky brake pads that I had to pay for, making the bike far worse off than it ever had been--completely unridable. I was back at the shop within 24 hours, where the staff acted shocked that the obviously faulty part they had installed was causing such horrendous problems. Nobody bothered to test the bike before charging me nearly $200. No apology or discount for the most careless maintenance work I have experienced. Don't take your bike here--go to the Bike Space, no matter what. read more

We went into the store with great expectations and had a terribly disappointing Electricity Bikes experience. We took in three bikes for a summer tuneup. The bike mechanic took 45 minutes just to take the bikes in and there was no one else in the store. I finally left because I couldn't wait any longer. He seemed too busy talking to coworkers, petting the dog and searching for parts to take in our job. He was incredibly arrogant, disrespectful and unhelpful. It felt like he only wanted me to buy new bikes because mine weren't worth his time. One of the bikes is a really expensive mountain bike that he suggested I trade in for a street bike. He said it would be an even trade but that would have valued our one year old $1,200 bike at next to nothing. In addition, I suspect they are also dishonest. I had expensive mountain tires changed out for road tires and they 'forgot' to give me back the other tires. I went to pick up the bikes and one of the brand new tires and tubes had popped while in their storage bin - pretty embarrassing. The sales staff is just as bad. When the mechanic nearly broke the rear wheel on one of the bikes and I got a call from the store manager who tried to explain that the issue was poor workmanship of the last repair guy rather than their own incompetence. Anton, the young associate who kept rushing over to 'assist' was patronizing, haughty and useless, all under the guise of 'trying to help'. He clearly needs a few more years of customer service training. Bottom line, they were expensive, poor mechanics, and dishonest. Would never go back! read more
