    Vanilla raspberry donut

Really delicious vegan options for sweets! The food items and soups are delicious but do not sleep on the sweet treats! My favorite are the donuts from Sixteen Mill Bakeshop. They come in different flavors such as vanilla raspberry and chocolate cherry. The frosting is smooth and creamy and the donut cake is dense and moist. They're $9 per donut, but a solid option/special treat if you're looking for vegan sweets.

Everything made in-house using minimal oil and no refined sugar at this vegan deli and bakery in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Among its wares, serves a rotating daily soup specials. Caught the Egyptian lentil soup, tasty and soul-warming on a cool fall evening. Paired it with a tempeh-kale salad, and as a treat, a sunflower butter cup cookie. Other things to look out for: burritos, mac and cheese, and their lasagna. Mostly functions as a grab-and-go but does have limited seating inside and outside. Cecily, the founder, was so welcoming and a fount of knowledge. You could hear the love, care, and dedication in her voice. Drop by, support, and say hello.

    Sunflower Mac n Cheese

Decided to stop here for lunch with a friend and was really pleasantly surprised! My friend got the breakfast burrito and I got the sunflower Mac n cheese and both were so delicious! Even though the food was in the refrigerator, the staff offered to warm it up so we could eat it there. Everything was super tasty and fresh. I talked to who I assume was the owner as she noticed I had just finished a race and we bonded over running. Super super friendly and kind staff. Would HIGHLY recommend.

PLANT-BASED BLISS! !! I'm rarely in this area and I was looking for a vegan or vegetarian spot - surprisingly there isn't all that much in this terrific area except for "ELECTRIC BEETS", a small unassuming spot with a variety of healthy and inventive items, where the vibe is so high, it'll make you smile!!! (thanks Yelp for helping me discover it!) Flavors "pop" in everything here!!! Their website has a "Calendar of Soups" so you can know what's offered on the day of your visit! Such a cute idea! There are variety of daily made sandwiches, salads, pastas and more in their abundant refrigerator case - any can be heated up for you - the choices are ABUNDANT! I tried the Buffalo "chicken" Wrap - very filling and hit the spot. Enjoying it while people-watching was terrific! The highlight for me was a type of Spicy Coconut Soup with Vegetables - FULL OF FLAVOR that will make your tastebuds awaken - it makes you feel alive! They also offer baked goods, of course I had to buy two! One was a sesame cookie, who doesn't love the idea of a healthy cookie! The other was a type of scone that was quite filling, as scones always are! The owner politely introduced herself and appreciated my interest in ALL of this highly creative take on healthy plant-based eats! Flavorful healthy eating is her passion and that is easy to see as soon as you walk in there are a number of cookbooks that she and the team seem to use - this is a team that aims high. She was open to hearing about all of my menu ideas. (I was a food writer in New York for many years) inventive flavor/texture pairings are where it's at for me! Her enthusiasm for what she does, her devotion to everyone's better health and her sense of joy and purpose is felt and she IS the heartbeat of this endeavor that she clearly LVES!!! She's brought her Midwestern charm to New York and this is not an easy spot to succeed in the food business unless you can offer consistency and excellence- her "Electric Beets" does both and is poised for greater success. As the the warmer weather approaches, it will be nice to sit at their orange tables out front in this friendly-vibe neighborhood where you see many families with happy hipster Brooklyn kids - . - what a pleasure! I cannot wait to go back and try more of their highly inventive and FLAVORFUL food - many get things to-go but to eat here is like getting an education in plant-based EXCELLENCE and INVENTIVENESS - expect great things from this beloved spot... Check it out...

Coconut Chickpea Curry w/brown rice and Baked Vegan Tofu Lasagna!

Great food and service! Delicious and Nutritious I will visit again and again. Great place to get goods all bites and or a meal, the right portions. Support this business Brooklyn!

The original name was called laurose and tuna salad chopping has been happening for over four decades. My fort green family really know what it is. My cousin and I stopped by yesterday and picked up a couple of heroes. I had to get my beef salami and 3 pepper colby jack cheese, extra mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, on a whole wheat hero (10.99) . Much love to a family staple for years. I waited for about 45 minutes, while waiting I picked up my chips and a white peach ginger ale. I also talked to the girl in front and she explained that you can get your sandwhich on a hero or roll. I ordered a chopped honey turkey with onions, pickles, lettuce and mayo. The guy who made my sandwich was soo friendly and patient. I just put my trust in him to hook it up lol. He also asked if I wanted to add the chips and I did. Overall my sandwhich was better the next day after it firmed up. The flavor was good but the texture was soft, mushy and just not what I want in a turkey sandwhich. It ran me about 12.00 and it was worth the experience.

If that's not the most Brooklyn thing ever, I don't know what is. Same sandwiches, different blessing. Everybody says order the pastrami, so I listened like a grown man should. Pastrami on rye with spicy mustard absolutely slapped. Smoky, juicy, perfectly stacked, and messy enough to ruin your shirt with honor. Then came the beef brisket on rye with a cup of au jus for dipping... and brother, that dip should be studied by scientists. Pure perfection. Washed everything down with a Dr. Brown's root beer like it was 1957. No fake trendy nonsense. No deconstructed sandwiches. Just old-school deli greatness that punches you directly in the soul. Great food doesn't care where you come from -- it just brings everybody to the same table. That's New York. That's Brooklyn.

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.
