I'll start off by saying that I work for a large real estate team in Chester County and Eldredge was our trusted septic company. After my personal experience with them, I will never recommend them to another client again. Long story short, my septic alarm went off, I called Eldredge, they sent someone out and installed a new pump. The only pricing that was ever discussed with me was the installers verbal quote. A week later, my alarm went off again. I called Eldredge and they sent someone out on a Saturday and again the following Tuesday. Eldredge tried to charge me $425 in service fees for the follow-up visits which did not fix/address a new/existing issue. They were basically charging me $425 to tell me to have an electrician come out an test my newly installed pump. I had also not received my invoice from the installation. After asking for my invoice several times, the service manager finally sent it to me and it was significantly higher than what I was originally quoted. After going back and forth via email, I asked Eldredge to adjust the invoice for my installation and send me an invoice stating that there was no charge for the 2 visits because no fees or pricing were disclosed to or discussed with me via phone or email or in person except for the installers original quote. It took me reporting Eldredge to the BBB before they finally responded to me after ignoring me for a week. This has bee a very difficult company to work with. I bought a house in the West Chester area and utilized Eldridge for the inspection and planning of a new septic. They set up times to come and complete testing of our septic and were late or never showed. we have had to delay settlement on our house twice due to them not meeting deadlines. They will only speak with the realtor and would not give us any information. I do not recommend if you have timelines that need to be met - they are not good at moving things quickly or on time. read more

One of the worst contractors I have ever hired!!! These people were recommended to us by our realtor because we had to have our septic system certified so we could sell our house. On the first day (March 21) they inspected our septic tank and found a leakage. They weren't sure if the tank could be repaired or replaced it would (of course) need to be pumped first. Also, they recommended that the line from the house to the tank be replaced because there was a sag in the line. On April 8, Dale arrived at 8:00 a.m. and waited for another guy to pump the tank. He waited an hour or so and then started digging to replace the line from the house to the tank. He laid the new line. The guy arrived around 10:30 a.m. to pump tank. Dale inspected the tank and told us there were 2 huge cracks in the tank and the tank needed to be replaced. After that he covered the new line and left. Once we realized that the tank needed to be replaced, the line that Dale just laid was obsolete - it didn't need to be laid because the new tank was going to be inserted in a new location. THEY TRIED TO GET US TO PAY FOR WORK THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE! On April 15th, we faxed paperwork to them so that the county septic inspector could come out. This is a requirement from the county whenever a new tank or new septic system is installed. My husband had spoken to Jeremiah prior to the 15th to make sure a faxed copy of this paperwork was acceptable and he was told "yes". We set up a tentative start date of May 16th for them to replace the tank, after we would be back from vacation. On May 9th, we get an e-mail from their secretary asking if we could give them the original paperwork. I told her she wouldn't be able to get the original paperwork until we return from vacation on the 16th and asked why did it take you 3 WEEKS TO REALIZE THIS - YOU HAD THE FAXED COPY SINCE APRIL 15TH!!!! I also asked if we were the first customers of theirs to have to fill out paperwork for the county!! They made us wait until June 26th to replace our tank. In addition, they couldn't determine whether the distributor box (which leads into the drain field) needed to be replaced or repaired. The tank and the box work was supposed to take 2 days. Dale hit shale while digging for the tank which meant he had to stop digging and have a sand-like material put in the hole so the new tank wouldn't crack. He has 2 sayings "WE HAVE A PROBLEM" and "IT'S GOING TO COST YOU MORE MONEY". THEY ARE NOT PREPARED FOR ANY PROBLEM THEY ENCOUNTER WHILE DOING THE WORK.. On June 27th, Dale and another worker got the sand-like material they needed and placed the tank without an outlet line to the distributor box because their work day was over. They couldn't finish the job on the 28th. We had to wait until July 1st and then Dale only laid the outlet line to the distributor box (it took him 8 hours to lay one line and cover it up). On July 8th, Dale and another worker finally finished the job by inspecting and replacing the distributor box. We started this process on March 21st and it didn't finish until July 8th (3.5 months later). Eldredge Septic is overall disorganized and borderline incompetent and they try to charge their customers for this. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! read more

We had an ongoing problem with our septic field in that the effluent was not reaching the entire absorption area. It was a series piping and distribution arrangement that was installed in 1983. While the field was sufficient to handle the load from the two of us (our children are now in their 40s), we had clear evidence that the field was not capable of handling the load of a larger family. We would not be able to sell the property unless this problem was corrected. One expert recommended that we investigate whether some of the piping was crushed during the 1983 installation and backfilling. I did not know where to begin or what needed to be done. I called Eldredge Septic Services because of their strong local reputation. They made recommendations and provided a clear technical and cost proposal, and their pricing was reasonable. They handled all of the governmental permitting, paperwork and inspection requirements. Eldredge changed the distribution system from a series arrangement to a parallel distribution arrangement. They ran a camera through the piping to verify that there was no crushing, or blockages, or obstructions. They exposed all the critical components and corrected a few problems that they found, which existed and were hidden for years without our knowledge. I am no septic expert, but I am an engineer. From what I saw while they were doing the work, Eldredge had the right equipment, personnel and expertise for the job. Their new distribution equipment and piping appears to be installed expertly in all respects. I also believe that their solution was exactly what was needed. A large portion of the lawn had to be dug up for this work. Eldredge restored the lawn by regrading and reseeding. I rate Eldredge 5 stars for its septic work and 4 stars for the lawn restoration. The 4 stars are because they did not roll or tamp the reseeded area and there may be some settling because of this!? Regardless, I would never go to anyone else other than Eldredge for future septic work. I highly recommend Eldredge for septic work within their entire service area. Steve McEvoy read more

The Eldredge family has maintained our 140 year old cesspool going back generations. When we moved into this house we had no idea what was lurking in the ground and googling cesspools was about the worst thing I could have done. After calming down and contacting Eldredge they came out with the plans they had on file for our property and assured us it was functioning properly. Most recently Curt came out to snake an line coming from our garage that hadn't been used in years. He unstuck a clog, checked for issues and was done in about an hour. The guys are always on time and super friendly and knowledgeable and will never try to sell you repairs you don't need. The office staff is lovely and always on top of it too. Thank you ! read more
