Amazing public pool. We went most recently for the hot springs day and it was an incredible time. They had a ramen food truck (which was fine) and free coffee and hot cocoa. We have also been here as a family during the summer and the pool is lovely. You would want to come early and get a nice shady spot because they will be taken up fast. My kiddo had to do a swimming test to use the diving board in the summer and she failed both times so she had to stay in the larger shallower end of the pool. This review is from a Texan native. We are here on vacay. We were thinking of fun stuff to do in Denver outside of hiking trails and found this place! We went on a hike first then decided to come here after. We didn't realize it closed so early on a Saturday, we should have checked. We got there at 4:30, so only had a little to be there. Also looking at prices on this yelp, they have gone up significantly. I see people complaining about $10 a few years ago. It was $25 per adult this time. That was crazy to me, but we had already made this plan and had driven 45 minutes for this, plus it's in the vacation budget. If I lived here I would not come back because of that price. Also if you don't have a towel, they cost $20. This place is beautiful and I loved my time here, it will be a great memory, but that price is crazy. If I come back to Denver I may look for another place that may be like this. read more

I'm not a pool person, and certainly would never pay $1.00, or the $12/adult fee. But I would bring a lounger, a cooler, some wine and a snack, and enjoy the local denizens, many of whom are not shy about bringing in beer to the old, adobe-surrounded pool. Pro tip: Go early as you can, whether it's a weekday or weekend. 10:00 may feel early to start swimming but it's plenty warm by then and you'll have your pick of the seats/areas. I love it! I love it! I love it! Been seeing ads of this pool in the paper for years and I'm elated that I finally made it! It was a sunny Monday afternoon and I was tickled that this Rocky Mountain oasis was no mirage. We called ahead to inquire about parking (somehow I'd missed the signs on previous trips driving through the town) and I am so glad that we did. We located two very small lots with rather intimidating "tow" warning signs. I still haven't quite figured out how they know/confirm if the cars parked there are indeed pool patrons but Vicero (my car) remained safe and sound over the several hours I was lounging in and around the pool. After passing over the wooden footbridge and through the arching gate we encountered a friendly young gal at the entry desk. She was very sweet and personable. We learned about the all important hand stamping (let's them know you've paid/entered previously if you run out to the car or for a bite to eat) and the free Eldorado pool postcard was a smash hit with me and my beau. The patrons varied in ages and walks of life. The children were well behaved and there were many couples enjoying the refreshing waters. I was particularly excited to see a patron lounging upon a pepperoni pizza floatation device (note to self: must hunt down donut shaped floaty I saw in an ad). The slide was tall and steep. I couldn't help but squeal when I finally let go of the sides of the slide. That thing really launched me! I rather enjoyed the diving board, it has a bit more spring than you'd expect. The water was beautiful and crisp. It was so refreshing to dip in non salt or chlorine treated water. There's a variety of seating from grass/picnic table, rooftop astroturf, poolside picnic table or chairs. Many folks opted to put down their beach towels directly on the cement. My beau was kind enough to track down a chair and carry it up stairs for me. Overall this was a wonderful relaxing day. I can't wait to return, particularly with my out of state guests. read more

My Dearest Darling Eldo pool, It is freezing cold on a February day in Denver right now. When I close my eyes, visions of you on a beautiful blue sky summer afternoon warm my heart. I would be reading a book on the grass by the stream, drinking the margarita I snuck in, soaking up the sun until I got too hot. Then I would take a dip in your fresh cool spring water, watch people do belly flops and cannon balls off the little diving board and get my courage up to slide down the crazy old 100-year-old metal slide. Once I recovered from the shock of almost drowning and probably crashing into someone at the bottom of the slide, I would go get some ice cream from the little cafe and dream about pretty winter days with fluffy snow flakes like today. Such a fun activity for the Summer! And so reasonably priced, too! With as many people there ranging in all shapes and sizes - The pool never seemed too crowded. However, if that is a concern, there's always a life guard on duty. Though there's not a ton of lounge seating, there's plenty of benches to store your stuff, and sunny area to sun bathe. There's even picnic tables below that overlook the beautiful stream that flows through the State Park. Being a natural source if water that's continuously flowing, the water is constantly at a pretty refreshing 69 degrees and heated in the pool to 79 degrees. For years, I kept saying I had to visit the Eldorado Swimming Pool but never got around to do it. Finally, yesterday, after a long trail run in the area, we decided to visit the place, it was the perfect opportunity. I was quite excited considering the good reviews I had read. Well, the excitement did not last very long, my friend and I immediately noticed that the place was not very clean and seemed very poorly maintained (and much smaller than what we expected). We could not believe the number of people willing to pay the $10 entrance fee when there are so many other options in the Boulder area. Sure, the view of the Flatirons is spectacular, but I don't think kids care that much once in the pool anyway. And if you want to lounge and appreciate the views of the Flatirons, there is no shade, and there are very few lounging chairs. So if you go for the view, I'd say skip it. just bring a chair in a shaded park and you'll get it for free. It is definitively nice that the water comes from a natural spring, but it was around 76 degrees when we went, so a little chilly for me (and not the 80 degrees advertised on their website, I don't think the water was heated at all.) There is hot water in the showers though, but I decided to skip it, the place was tiny and dirty (chewed gum in the soap dish...). I understand that Eldorado Swimming Pool is historical and should keep its original atmosphere (it first opened in 1905), but that could be made with a few accommodations for the guests. I found this pool totally overpriced, dirty and quite ugly inside. Glad I did not bring my family with me! read more

Cool Blue must have been said for this pool. Clean and fresh waters, sun deck, slides, diving board and your kids or the neighbors. FUN is what this place is all about. Its the prefect spot to get to after a hike in the canyon, to relax and have fun with the little ones whom you have bribed with a promise of a dip in the pool, to go on a hike. Now that you know I bribe my own child, my baby sitting business might not do so well :( Back into the pool - Its beautiful! And I never found it too crowded. Eldorado is still as good as it gets, and my mom (who was that 50-year old who did a double front flip off the diving board) agreed when I took her on our way to Boulder this weekend. Until this weekend, I had always rolled in right after a rain storm to find the pool to myself. I was a bit weary of what I would find during more populated hours, but my fear was unfounded. This clear, cool, fresh-water spring pool and its sun decks are plenty big enough for summer afternoon crowds. As a Floridian who recently moved to Boulder this past August, I have been itching for full submersion in a body of water. A friend suggested I go to this pool, so we made our way out on a very hot afternoon. It is an awesome pool right up against the Eldorado Canyon State Park (so, there are awesome views) complete with a slide, kiddie area, and a clear distinction between the deep and shallow ends. From what I heard from people who have been, it is regularly a happening place - but it wasn't too packed when I went! Overall, I was more than happy to catch some rays and lazily fall into the pool for some cool refreshment. The cons, however, might keep you from going back. Daily admission is $10 for an adult, and (as far as I could tell) there were only about 6 lawn chairs randomly placed throughout the pool decks. Unless you don't mind sitting completely erect on the park benches up against the outside fence/walls, or getting there early enough to square away one of these rare chairs, you will likely be laying on concrete. read more

This pool is the bee's knees. It's a beautiful location, surrounded by Eldorado Canyon State Park. It's pretty big and it's got a pretty sweet diving board (and a slide!). The water is a bit chilly, but it's invigorating and would feel nice after a big hike. There's a lot of room to spread out and soak up some sun between dips in the pool - room around the pool itself and two upper decks. There's also a lower deck with picnic tables that overlooks the river, which is nice if you want to hang out for a bit and have some lunch. I haven't purchased anything from the snack bar, but it's there if you want a lil something. The only drawbacks to this place are how busy it gets and the amount of unsupervised kids insisting on getting in your business. I'd highly recommend going on a weekday, which are busy enough. I can only assume weekends are mobbed. Maybe a bit of crowding doesn't bother you at the pool, but, frankly, I'm not sure where people park on busy days as there aren't a whole lot of spots in town near the pool. As for the kids, I get it, it's a great place for them to spend their summer vacation, but. being children, they're stupid and lacking in social decency. Parents will come here, sit back and let their little monsters run wild and likely into your general vicinity. So, instead of setting up camp in any of the many open spaces on the decks, they'll probably choose to settle down by you while you're trying to relax and scream about "General Grievous" and other such Star Wars characters from this terrible new generation of films/television shows. read more

One star is too much for this place. Our only bad experience during our amazing Boulder trip was at Eldorado. Searched hot springs to heal our aching hiking muscles and were unlucky enough to find Eldorado. Walked in, touched the pool , only to learn it was not a hot springs at all. Did not even undress or walk further than 15 feet into the facility. Despite that they stated they would allow someone to tour the facility and touch the water free of charge, they still refused to refund our cash we had just paid. Reached out to the manager by phone, who was not on the premises. No return call. We are a military family that works very hard for our money and that was a crummy way to spend it. Stay away from this place. We are so disappointed. On the other side, if looking for a cold springs, there has got to be a better option. This one was outdated, dirty and had a horrible smell. read more

This place is seriously awesome. It's a truly vintage pool nestled in a gorgeous canyon. I would probably go several times a week if it didn't cost $10 to get in! What I liked: - that it's old and has a cool history to it - the various decks to hang out on where you can see all around - the pool itself and the spring water - the gorgeous views surrounding the area - the rushing creek and little bridge you cross to get to the pool - they have a snack bar (didn't visit though) - changing room / showers - mats on the floor of the bathroom kept it from being a gross wet mess What I didn't like: - the stairs up to the decks felt a little dangerous - just kind of old and slippery. Use the handrails! - only 2 toilets in the women's room - would be nice if there were a few more because this is a big place - not many chairs (bring your own!) - a season pass is pretty expensive. If it was a little less, I would most definitely grab one. All in all, this place is fantastic and I highly recommend checking it out. Parking is free - there is parking along the dirt road. Clearly signed where you can park. I was there on a weekday so there were some spots but I imagine a busy Saturday may result in some parking issues. Otherwise, it retains much of its original charm. This place looks like it was plucked right out of the 50's. Even all of the men were wearing short swimming trunks...it was so weird. The coolest part about this pool is that it seems like the adults are just as excited about it as the kids. I saw more adults jumping off the diving board and going down the slide than I've probably ever seen at a pool before...it was awesome. The slide is tall and super fast, obviously making it a hit! The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the food court...$6 for a slice of pepperoni pizza? A bit steep in my book...especially since it wasn't that big and it wasn't that good. read more

I came here with two of my girlfriends, we're in our late 20s, and there are too many kiddies around for our liking, but it's understandable. The facilities are charming. We love this pool and have come at least once a summer for the last 5 years. They play good music, the lifeguards aren't obnoxious, and it's just downright beautiful as it is historic. No chlorine, ice cold mountain spring water, I love the rickety old bridge you have to cross to get there. It's just lovely. read more

Super cool place, if a bit tricky to navigate on the first visit. The parking is super limited and rustic, which seems like an intentional choice. The place is an amazing relic - you can see that it used to be a much bigger operation in the past, and now is basically the simple snack bar (don't miss the $2 boulder ice cream mini's) and the pool area. The place is the best sort of hippie funky - all the various zones are pretty loosely defined but make loads of sense when you are in each one, and are very comfy. Half the pool deck is in the shade, half is in the sun. The pool itself was super refreshing on a low 90's day, seemed like a pretty optimal air temp to enjoy the facilities. FYI - the deep end is only like 8-9' so don't be too aggressive on the diving board headfirst. The slide is wicked. They don't make em like that anymore! We went on a late summer Friday afternoon, brought a picnic lunch and were there for about 3 hours (we had some free passes) - it was about perfect. As the sun moves up the canyon it gets a little chilly, but the sun decks seem to stay in full sun for several more hours. It was a great mix of people on the day we went (I think school was back in session) little kids, very tattoed hipsters, older retiree-type tourists, young families. Everyone got along well. Very non-Boulder, which was great ;) It does seem that with just a little bit of work it could be a tad more welcoming, easy to navigate and updated (fix a few leaks here and there, better parking signage, etc). As I said, this could be an intentional choice to filter out the users - I think the capacity is fairly small. Overall, this company seems to be like that though - 1/2 of it is trying to modernize and make some bucks, half is trying to stay small and local. An interesting tension. Either way, a legit place that feels much further away than it is from town - definitely worth the time and bucks. read more

The 80 degree natural springs pool they advertise on the website is actually a small plume of heated water with surrounding freezing water. Little kids flocked to it but wouldn't let us near it. It's pretty sad when a pool is too cold for 90+ degree summer weather. Disappointing. read more
