I haven't had much luck with auto repair shops and don't trust them one bit. So after horrible experiences at Midas and Tires Plus (gave me a $800 estimate for a cracked radiator. How about no mention of a crack from any other auto shop and a $3 bottle of Bar's Stop Leak to fix the real problem? Crooks.) I checked out the reviews for Elder here on Yelp and decided to bring my car in to get my AC fixed. The online appointment process through their website is a great feature. It's great to be able to make an appointment and know they can work on your car right away instead of having to just show up and test your luck to see if you'll need to wait 5 hours before they can even look at your car (ahem, Midas). The ladies at the desk were wonderful and courteous. They asked if I was going to wait or come back. When I told them I was going to wait they asked if I needed to be dropped off somewhere. I waited there anyway (able to work on my laptop), the waiting area is comfortable and very clean. They also have free beverages. I also paid some attention to conversations between other customers and staff and every customer was treated nicely. Staff and mechanics took their time explaining everything that was done or needed to be done and never came across as trying to sell anything. It just came across as "here is the issue, here are all your options for fixing it, here is what we recommend." They even offered a discount to one customer to make their decision easier. My conversations with the mechanics were pleasant and again, not a sales pitch. I had done a lot of research online about my issue and had a good idea of what needed to be done and how much it should cost. The mechanic was spot-on with his assessment and the cost was actually on the low end of what I had read online for the same make, model and issue. The work was done quickly (as opposed to waiting around for parts to arrive) and I was out of there within 3 hours (thought I'd be there all day). The only thing I'm upset about is that I didn't go to Elder Auto sooner! I've found "my mechanic" and now have an easy answer next time anyone asks me if I can recommend a mechanic. So glad I never have to go back to an auto r(ipoff)epair shop chain. read more

My 2002 impala is getting on, but you've got to give it up to the honest mechanics. It needed a lower manifold gasket leak replacement which was diagnosed by Firestone. I decided to get a quote with a engine mechanic shop. I went to Elder Auto. The Mechanic there at Elder Auto said this gasket issue happens to these high miles Chevy's due to inferior seals that do not last long / mix well with the 'Dexcool' antifreeze that GM designed for these models. I got my Elder Auto quote. It was $715.00. I expected the gasket seal replacement job to be fulfilled, so we went ahead Got a call from Elder Auto. They said there was a very very minimal leak and did I want spend the $$$.000 to complete? No, I said re-check everything. Bottom line, I only did a antifreeze flush and a replacement of one engine cooling fan, which was $400 vs. $715 'the original lower manifold estimate. A lot of people go to Firestone like me. Having recently purchased my first car and needing a headlight replacement, I searched around for a good local mechanic. The owner (Ramon) answered the phone himself and was extremely polite and friendly through what I'm sure were some really stupid car questions. I went in immediately after hanging up, where Ramon replaced the headlight for free. I went back later that week after registering my car where they put my new license plates/stickers on (also for free) and scheduled an oil change for the following week. During my oil change appointment, they performed a full inspection of my car for free and provided me with a list of repairs they suggested (specifying some that could wait, and helping me bring down the estimate by combining others). As a young female who knows nothing about cars, I never felt taken advantage of or tricked in any way. All of the staff at Elder Auto are incredibly helpful and friendly. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found such a fantastic and honest mechanic to help me through my first car. read more

Complete waste of time!!!!! Elder Auto claims they are alignment specialist and this is a joke. I called to get my truck in and was asked the model. When I told the secretary the only thing she was concerned about was if it was a longbed. I explained it wasn't but it had a lift with bigger tires and wheels. She said "oh that doesn't matter if it's not a long bed". So I skipped work and drove an hour and a half to Elder Auto. Guess what they pulled my truck in the shop and then come tell me it doesn't fit on the rack and they can't align it. So I made no money at work and wasted $60 in diesel fuel for a simple "sorry I've never seen wheels like that". Give me a break, I see trucks with offsets all the time and ESP in Denver. To call yourself alignment specialist and never seen a 20" wheel with a 35" tires are you kidding me? Times like this a customer deserves more then a "sorry" and Elder Auto didn't make shit right. I will never be back and none of my friends or family will either fucking waste of time!!! read more

Elder Auto really come through for us in a pinch. Our '85 GMC Jimmy has been a faithful servant for many years, but it lost its fuel pump on a recent trip to Denver. We were seriously stranded! A passerby recommended calling Elder and we couldn't have been more fortunate. It was late afternoon but they promised to take care of us as quickly as possible. We were towed to their location right at closing time and put directly into a service bay even though the shop was obviously busy with other customers. We spent an anxious night in a nearby hotel but the outcome was perfect. We had a diagnosis and a fair quote the following morning with an estimated completion time of 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Indeed, we were on the road again by 4:30, the truck ran beautifully and the total bill was less than the quote. Angel, Jasper, Ken, Ramon and everyone else at Elder were caring, courteous and extremely helpful. If we lived in Denver, they would absolutely have all of our automotive business! read more

I needed to arrange some auto repair work for my son while I was in a different city. His van lost the power steering pump (which wipes out both power steering & power brakes). Needless to say, it's nearly impossible to drive & finding a AAA associated dealer near my son's new place was imperative. Elder Auto (love the name!) has a website that was informative, easy to navigate, and allowed me to get a quote on the service needed. Even though we had to switch dates often, they were very accommodating. When we finally got the van to the shop, they processed us right away, allowed the tow truck driver to drop the van in their bay, got to the analysis quickly, gave a thorough evaluation, and completed the repairs quickly. The staff is very friendly and the shop is clean. The pricing of their services is at the lower end of what I was expecting. I certainly won't hesitate to use this shop in the future! read more

I have been taking my 250,000 mi car there for about 3 years. They never cease to impress me. I called early this week for A/C service, Brakes and possibly suspension and an oil change. I was planning on laying out $1000 plus but I figured thats just a couple payments on a new vehicle so I want to keep it as long as possible at this point. Long and short I dont need brakes, they tightened up the suspension and filled up the AC reservoir as it had never been touched since the car was bought brand new...11 years old so there is probably a slow leak in it somewhere. They put some dye into the refrigerant and will check it at the next oil change...I was out of there for about 10% of what I expected. They are honest. Prices are reasonable and I know I wont get taken for a ride with these guys...they want my business and keep it by treating me and my family right. read more

They have gone above and beyond to help me with my auto repairs, rescheduling appointments and making urgent repairs when necessary, even when I was the one who missed the scheduled appointment, they found a way to fit me in and fix my Explorer. Their price is better than most and they have a fantastic waiting room with free wifi and drinks! My 2002 Explorer seemed to be shifting a little oddly so asked for a transmission fluid change as first measure. Elder Auto folks asked me about my car and then checked things out thoroughly. Found that no fluid change was needed as synthetic had plenty of value remaining; test drive by experts put me at ease as to the minor shifting issues; received a no pressure estimate for another issue they found. I received all this and a ride to my office for next to nothing in costs. In fact, it was nothing in cost because all they fixed was my peace of mind. Priceless. read more

Professional, courteous, diligent, warm and friendly; all you could ask for in auto service. They are really good at 'figuring out things' too - not just "what we always do" or "the book says replace it" when you really just want the squeak or rattle gone;. Full service, ingenious service. Took my wife's Mazda to the fine people at Elder this week. Had never been. It took a few days to get us to do a diagnostic test, which isn't bad in today's auto shops. Call ahead to get an appointment. They were able to diagnose and fix our car in the same day. Thank you everyone at Elder for such great , straight forward, and speedy service.
