Daisy’s Cafe - A gigantic BLT and delicious Mac salad

It's pretty cool, then, to see new little spots like Daisy's popping up right after the new bike and pedestrian trail built over the old trolley line opened. Coincidence? Maybe! But if you're passing through rural Rensselaer county on your bike and feeling a little peckish, then Daisy's is an excellent new breakfast and lunch option just a short distance off the trail. Daisy's is brand new, so there are still kinks to work out -- our lovely waitress was struggling with her fancy electronic ordering machine, and there was a lot of confused running around in the kitchen. The food, though, was absolutely solid. My mom was a bit skeptical about the price of her BLT before she ordered, but took it back once she received her gigantic sandwich made with perfectly fresh ingredients and served with a mound of some of the tastiest Mac salad that either of us had ever had (plus a bag of chips!). My cup of the soup of the day was hot and flavorful (if slightly over over salted). The weakest link in the whole meal was the oddly soft hard roll for my breakfast sandwich: I'd ask for it toasted next time. Daisy's also serves local Tierra Farms coffee, which is a nice touch, and there were some really nice-looking treats in the pastry case. Overall this is a super cute little place that does a pretty good job of hitting the sweet spot between an old-fashioned small-town diner and a more modern cafe (with plans to add more vegetarian/vegan options to the menu). I'll absolutely come back, and I hope that places like this continue to open up and thrive in small communities around the region.

My wife and I recently moved to the Village and the Busted Yolk is a 30 second walk for us, so one weekend we headed over to grab some breakfast. It's a small little place, but clean and nicely decorated, and there were a good amount of people inside, but there were some open tables and we were sat relatively quickly. We were given our menus and looked 'em over. Typical stuff you'd see on diner menus. One of the cool things about the Busted Yolk though is they bake their own loaves of bread. I'm not a huge fan of eggs, so I went with ordering a bunch of sides of stuff to make my own plate, so I went with an order of bacon, sausage links, home fries and toast with their homemade Italian bread. The wife got The Big Four Breakfast along with a pancake. Food was brought quickly and everything was tasty. They had very good home fries with onions, bacon was nice and crispy, and their toast with their homemade bread was very good. Thick slices too. The wife also enjoyed hers. Service was good and all the employees were very friendly. Prices were pretty cheap and more than fair. The Busted Yolk does simple diner food, but they do it well and they do it friendly, so we'll definitely be back at some point.

The place was busy and when a table is available, you seat yourself. Service was very friendly and attentive. Reason for 4th star. Worth stopping when in the area and will return, next trip to the outlets. Just no lemonade or turkey dinner! Private parking, large lot. Milk shakes oh my. Unique menu, with interesting toppings. Vanilla milk shake was excellent. Stay away from their lemonade. Very disappointed. Pepsi machine and tasted poorly. TURKEY DINNER WAS JUST OK. SIDE Salad came with the dinner. Very fresh. We divided brunch breakfast for me and lunch for he.I continue to hear about the extended wait as a couple who arrived after we waited in the vehicle parked next to us and were seated right after us. Did this overshadow brunch? Yes it did! The ambiance was highly effected with his concern of us being delayed seating. Initially sat at a table for seven and a booth opened up and we were able to utilize. We were both happy with our selections.
