On a recent Saturday morning, we decided to give the Triangle Diner a try for breakfast…read more We found a parking spot but were told that there was a 30 minute wait. We decided to stay and wait and are extremely glad that we did! I originally was hoping to get a Turkey club sandwich but on the weekends, they only serve breakfast. I was still in luck as I ordered a breakfast club sandwich which came with potatoes. Gotta have my pancakes so I ordered two. Everything was beyond delicious and the portions were humungous. I can't even remember when I needed a take out box at breakfast? My companion had an Eggs Benedict platter of which I forgot to take a photo. The staff is very friendly and well organized especially with those who are waiting patiently! We now started a new tradition of having breakfast here, each time that we visit Saratoga NY!

Everything came out quickly and the waitresses were on top of refilling our coffee and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The pancake was deliciously spongy and it was humungous! The omelet, potatoes and toast were all cooked perfectly. The sandwich my husband got was fantastic and also huge. Can't wait to go back!

Did I know what I was getting into when I stopped for lunch in Craryville?…read more No. Sometimes you're on a road trip and you need to stop to eat. Often, these meals are nothing special - just fuel for the trip. But sometimes you get lucky. We stopped because we were hungry and because the map said there was a place to eat just off the Taconic. Right off the exit we were greeted by an old-school stainless steel diner that looked well-maintained and inviting. At this point, my expectations for the stop had already been exceeded. Inside, we learned that this was an old Silk City Diner from 1958, and the decor reflected this history. We took a comfortable booth by a window. Service was friendly. One of the day's specials was fried scallops. Now, many people might think an old roadside diner that's 100 miles from the ocean might not be a good place to order seafood, but I had a feeling I was making a good choice. I didn't even ask the waitress how the scallops were - I just ordered. The scallops were perfectly cooked, enjoyable to eat, and exceeded my expectations. They came with fries, gravy, and broccoli, which were all fine (but nothing special). It wasn't all perfect. The coffee was weak, and it didn't seem like all the food met the level of the scallops. But for a random rest stop it was fantastic. Will I be planning a trip to Craryville just to go to the Martindale Chief Diner? Probably not. But would I stop in if I was traveling through this area again? Absolutely.

MCD does it all and then some, don't miss this wonderful hidden restaurant gem!

If you own a tv, you've probably seen the commercials featuring the family behind this family-owned business. I did try to go to Alexis years ago. I believe it was on a Sunday morning. There were literally no spaces left in the parking lot so I decided to pass. There are best times to visit. I showed up on a Thursday evening just before 5:30pm. The hostess greeted me and told me that the rush hadn't begun yet. About 7 tables and booths were already filled. That would have kept some businesses plenty busy but Alexis is a big place. It can seat so many more. The parking lot was less than half full. It's clean and bright. A big classic Greek diner. The wait staff and hostesses are friendly and efficient. A server was headed towards me to take my order when my iPhone suddenly rang. She immediately backed away and she returned as soon as the call ended. She was so observant. The menu is massive. If I have a bone to pick it would be over some of the pricing. I love open turkey sandwiches with gravy but it looked as though they were charging more than $17. It would have to be an out-of-this-world turkey sandwich for me to go there. Instead, I ordered a Monte Cristo for about $14. I'd never had that before. Ham, turkey and melted cheese between two slices of French toast. The sides included Cole slaw and a choice of fries or salads. I went with a green salad. It was already a high calorie meal. I asked for their house-made Greek dressing on the side which was awesome. I liked my sandwich a lot, too. I could only finish half, so I took the rest home. As with many diners, there's a big glass display case for desserts. The cakes and pies look amazing. Perhaps someday I can find if they taste as good as they look. But that's for another time. I was so full. Thanks, Alexis.
