Everything was scrumptious, tasted home made and made you want to just eat everything on site. The dining room was small, but let me tell you, everyone and I mean everyone kept coming here. Service was great, we were treated so well and the cashier had the ability to be social with everyone that came by as well. What I liked about this establishment was the authentic Greek Orthodox aesthetic. They had such beautiful icons, cool music, like it was the full authentic experience. We got Niko Nikos back in Texas. Don't get me wrong the food is great, but it doesn't have the authentic vibe that this place had. I'm not in Canada, but if I had to come back this would be one of my go to spots.

My wife and I came upon this place by accident when in town and looking for a place to grab lunch. We walked in to find a small, but nicely decorated little storefront. There were a handful of tables, but it was clear that the majority of the customers were grab-and-go, not dine in. We got a couple of combos, including chicken gyros, Greek fries, and soft drinks. The food originally came out packaged to go, but when the girl behind the counter noticed we were dining in, she got us plates, plastic ware, and napkins to facilitate our meal experience. As we were munching, it was clear that this place is like family to a high number of customers who were swinging by to grab a meal. We probably won't be anywhere near this part of Mississauga anytime soon, but if we do, this would probably be place we'd want to prioritize coming back to.

I was so embarrassed as I was the only woman standing in line. I took our tray and quietly walked away. I would have handed him the looney had he not been so aggressively rude. Will definitely not go back. No customer service skills.

But what can I say? I've never had pork that was as tender and juicy like this! It was so surprising cause the pork souvlaki from food courts are always on the drier side but not here! And the in-house tzatziki sauce? Mouthwatering! The portions (if you've not already heard) are huge and explain the higher price for a plate (around 23$+). If you're not too hungry, you can definitely split a plate. Despite the fast paced environment, the staff kept a good vibe and even offered to have me come back after eating to pick up my cheesecake slice so it can be kept cold until then. That to me shows they care about our experience dining at their restaurant. Can't wait to be back!

This time I brought two…read morefriends with me so that I could try more of the menu, and spoiler alert: we all had a lovely meal haha. Food was delicious, service was friendly, prices were very reasonable, and the drive there was 100% worth it! Further breakdown below for what we ordered if you like planning your visit ahead of time like I do. Pulled the following prices from their menu posted on Google Reviews that they posted in August/September of 2022 so prices may have gone up due to inflation since then :') Still worth it if you ask me! (we ordered all of the below, split the bill, and ee still each paid way less than $30 per person - left feeling so full too) -[SAGANAKI] $13.95 (8/10) This is a kefalotyri cheese that is lightly floured, panfried, and then flamed with Ouzo! It is also served with a lemon. I opted to not squeeze lemon juice on my portion, but my friends assured me that the lemon helped tamp down the saltiness of this dish. That's to me is the only reason it isn't a perfect 10/10 dish was because I found it too salty when eaten on its own - would still order again though! -[TARAMOSALATA] $6.95 (10/10) This is a spread of creamy fish toe topped with Asteri extra virgin olive oil! One of my all time favorite spreads is this one haha. Their spreads are served as just a spread so you'll have to order pita separately to consume it if that was your intention. I personally like this spread (and the next one so much) that I just slather it on everything I order :D -[TZATZIKI] $5.95 (10/10) Tzatziki is typically a yogurt-based spread that consists of garlic, and cucumbers! The one they make here is so good in all possible ways. It is just salty enough, has just the right amount of garlic, and the portion is generous. -[PORK SOUVLAKI STICK] $1.85 (10/10) These sticks are sold individually - there was a slight miscommunication to our server as we tried to order just ONE stick to try first but she ended up putting the order through as three of each. She made the right call haha. The pork one was better than the chicken one if you ask me - meat was very flavorful, and juicy! -[CHICKEN SOUVLAKI STICK] $1.95 (10/10) These sticks are sold individually! First time I ordered these, they looked dry but hot damn, biting into it makes you realize that looks can certainly be deceiving. The chicken was moist and well seasoned! Absolutely delicious. -[TYROPITA] $5.95 (10/10) This is a phyllo pastry filled with feta - we originally wanted their spanakopita (feta AND spinach in the phyllo pastry) but their bakery was out of it so we opted for this variant instead. Decently sized portion for sure! Pastry was flaky as heck in the best way -[VILLAGE STYLE GREEK FRIES] $7.95 (8/10) This is a dish of fries that is traditionally dressed with imported barrel feta. Personally, I think it could use a little more like perhaps a dollop of tzatziki to liven it up but otherwise, it is certainly a good dish to pair with the spreads -[PATATES FOURNOU LEMONATES] $3.95 (10/10) Oven-roasted lemon potatoes! These must be cooked in its sauce for a long time because boy, are they flavorful :) Always love a good order of lemon potatoes so if you do too, be sure to order these -[GRILLED PITA] $1.00 Warm pita that is brushed with Asteri extra virgin olive oil that is cut in four pieces. We got two orders of these to share, and it was plenty because of everything else we ordered too I made a reservation in advance because I always like to be sure I can get a table but on a Sunday at 1:30PM, we were the only table :O The last time I came here was on a weekend night, and it was a full house so that was appalling this time around. Highly recommend you check this place out for good food!

It's the kind of space that encourages ordering a half litre of wine (their house versions are only $27) and easing into the evening. A basket of warm, crusty bread starts the meal, with our server snipping dried oregano right into the olive oil - a fragrant, rustic touch. A thick, zesty red pepper hummus also arrives for those who prefer a spread over a dip. Philoxenia offers calamari ($30.95) grilled or fried. The appetizer consists of two sizeable portions of squid with a rather tasteless "house sauce" (a seafood sauce and mayo concoction?) on the side. The calamari itself was fresh, though I wish the thicker end had been cooked slightly longer, since it bordered on gelatinous. Skip the house sauce and pair it with the roasted pepper hummus instead; it works surprisingly well. The lamb chops ($59.95) are the star: four beautifully grilled chops served with a thick smear of tzatziki, soft lemony potatoes, and simply sautéed vegetables (broccoli and green beans). For me, it's these minimally fussed-over dishes that makes for quintessential Greek dining. We added the grilled vegetables ($27.95) on the side, though there really wants a lot of vegetables. Think two thin slices of zucchini and eggplant, a single roasted carrot's worth, and a couple rings of grilled onion. What is there is delicious - drizzled with balsamic and sprinkled with feta - but for a dish centered around vegetables, I expected more. For vegetarians, a mound of rice and lemon potatoes help round it out into a decent main. One thing I genuinely appreciated about Philoxenia is they don't try to rush you. It's a restaurant that lets you linger, offering a leisurely meal in a quiet, spacious dining room with plenty of breathing room between tables... something that's increasingly rare in Toronto's newer, sardine-can-style restaurants. Philoxenia nails that cozy, unhurried Greek dining experience that makes you want to stay a little longer and sip a little more wine.

We started with the Philoxenia special appetizer -- a striking tower of thinly sliced zucchini, eggplant, and cheese, crisped to perfection. Paired with a cheesy dip, it was an irresistible combination of crunch and comfort. For mains, we ordered the beef mousakka and a Greek-style paella. The paella was a standout -- a flavor-packed dish loaded with mussels, shrimp, and calamari in a rich tomato sauce over tender orzo. Dessert came with table-side theatrics. Layers of phyllo for the baklava were heated in honey, then stacked with ice cream -- a creative and indulgent finale that built anticipation as we watched. Service was attentive without ever feeling overbearing. We felt genuinely well cared for throughout the evening. On our way out, we noticed a gorgeous garden-style patio at the entrance. Next time, we'll be requesting a table there for sure.

I can't wait to go back & try more variation of espresso drinks. Pastry wise, it was insane. The loukoumades delivered - it was super fresh with fragrant honey, and rich cinnamon powder on top. It was perfect with the coffee. The absolute peak, highlight of our meal was the Trigona. Holy s, that gotta be one of the best pastries I've had. The cream was smooth, silky, the pistachio was sweet and floral, and the phyllo? That was divine intervention. That last bite of the Trigona sent me straight to heaven.
