It is a bit on the pricey side, but perfect for a special occasion! Super cute and cozy inside, and when it's nice out there is a decent size patio.

Every dish we ordered was flavorful and memorable, and the quality of the food was easily the highlight of the evening. That said, given the restaurant's reputation and price point, we expected a more elevated dining atmosphere. The seating consisted of simple bench-style arrangements that felt more casual than anticipated, and the smaller layout made the restaurant quite loud and crowded during peak hours. Since every table was full for the holiday, conversations carried easily throughout the space, and the lack of high-backed seating offered very little privacy between tables. We had also anticipated a slightly more upscale ambiance overall. My girlfriend and I dressed for what we expected would be a fine dining experience, but the atmosphere leaned much more casual, with many guests dressed in jeans and T-shirts. Of course, this is more of an observation than a criticism, but it did contribute to the experience feeling less refined than expected. In the end, the outstanding food ultimately made up for many of the atmosphere-related shortcomings. While the ambiance did not fully align with our expectations for such a highly rated restaurant, the quality of the cuisine absolutely stood out and is what we will remember most.

However, it ended up being one of those places that looks great but is solidly mid, and is questionably expensive to boot. I got the beet salad, which was more like an artfully arranged minimalist deconstructed salad popular in the mid-2000s. While the beets themselves (an exaggeration, when recombined there was a total of one (1) beet) were good, it came with these weird rubbery smashed goat cheese disks that were bland and seemed like they were premade a week ago. Like the saying goes, "The food was bad and there was not enough of it." For my main, I got a burger and fries, which was... fine. It was an okay burger. The fries were also just okay. But for the price they really should have been MUCH better. Plus, it's one of those tall, unwieldy, towering burgers that guarantees an underseasoned patty and unintentional deconstruction during the meal. On my way back to the south bay I got a way better burger for way less at Cali Kid. My service was actually quite good - my waiter was very attentive and checked on me often, and was friendly and engaging. Ambiance-wise, it's very cozy with a cabin, public house vibe. I feel like it might be a better place to get drinks and soak up the relaxed vibes before a main event elsewhere. This place could be so much better if they just tweaked the food a little... or a lot.

She was truly a hard worker, I observed as she went around to other tables to check in, stepped in where needed, was friendly to the staff and patrons, then went into training mode for a new waitress. She is amazing. She gave us champagne and a cute candle at our table when she found out what we were celebrating. Food is always on point here, which is why we come back time and time again. Tonight was no different. Small plates: Hamachi crudo is a must, it was so delicious, the steak tartar was also perfection, but the star of the show was the crab & shrimp Louie salad. OMG. I will never be able to eat a normal salad again! It was the best salad I've ever had. The avocado mousse and 6 minute egg, was just so amazing. The crab to shrimp ratio was absolutely perfect, and perfectly cooked. You just have to try it. Entrees: smash burger 10/10. We always go with their burgers, and tonight was no different. The bacon onion jam takes the burger to the next level. The mushroom stroganoff 10/10. This was also delicious. The shitake cream made the dish. Pork porterhouse 7/10. Lacked flavor. Cherry jam was ok. Collard greens ok. I think everything else on the table blew me away, so my expectations for this dish were high and it didn't meet the mark. I normally do the half roasted chicken, it's amazing. Creme brûlée: 8/10 flavor was amazing as usual, I always get this here, however tonight, the sugar was burnt ontop and made it very bitter. Ambiance: 10/10. Clean establishment. Cute decor. Amazing place for date night, anniversaries, drinks/dinner with friends. All in all--I LOVE this place... and tonight's service was amazing ontop of amazing food. We haven't had that combo in awhile. Thank you Savannah for making our anniversary dinner that much better! If you haven't tried this place, you're definitely missing out.

For reference, this is the 4th yelp review I've ever written…read more First time at H & L and was taking my wife and her friends out for a birthday brunch. They got mimosas which were good and thats about all we enjoyed. One of our friends is vegan and she mentioned she's eaten there several times so figured the menu would accommodate. We ordered tator tots which were ok then I ordered a burger, my wife got the corn beef hash and my vegan friend ordered the impossible burger. The server seemed busy but the restaurant didn't have a ton of tables at the time but she looked like she was the only one working inside and on the patio. They never asked what my preference was on the burger temp but I assumed medium which is fine and I ended up getting medium well with bits of burnt, but don't worry, they drench their burger in some kind of sauce. My wife's corn hash was just super greasy and my vegan friend got the impossible burger with actual cheese. Luckily, she caught that the cheese was real and since the server wasn't around, we told the busser who brought us the food that she'll just get the salad. He took the burger back and brought back what I would call a side of a side salad. This dish was about the size of what you give your cat wet food in. A little embarrassing considering she wanted a burger and now has a bed of lettuce. They apologized and brought her a full-size salad, but they did put sliced avocado on the side because they felt bad. Obviously, putting something that is not vegan on a vegan plate can make the person incredibly sick and has in the past unfortunately. For four of us to get subpar food and basic service was $150 which I paid and tipped 20% because I have seven years in the service industry and wouldn't do that to a server. Overall, I was just embarrassed by the way everything was handled. My vegan friend also ordered a cold brew, and the server didn't even think to not put the cream that we didn't know that came on the top. I don't think she's ever met anyone who was vegan before. In summary, my first time there with friends celebrating a birthday bruch. Server was good but didn't come to the table very often. Server didn't know what vegan meant apparently. Food was very ok, overcooked and greasy and the bill was $150. The best thing about our experience were the mimosas.

I was able to get to the front of the line and order their burger that I was told was one of the best. I grabbed a beer as well because it was one of those days ya know! I took my number sign and found some space next to a couple playing card games on a bench inside. They had a self serve icewater area that I was able to fill up my water bottle. I was also able to grab some ketchup to enjoy those fries. My burger and fries was delivered and there were more fries than expected. I focused on those first because who like cold fries, right??? The fries were actually pretty good, an above average standard French fry with salt. The burger however was phenomenal. There was an amazing crust on the outside reminiscent of a backyard bbq. There was ample bacon, lettuce, cheese and sauce to make it a balanced bite. The bun was high end brioche style, they really went all out on quality of ingredients. A standard burger build but done perfectly! Beer was cold, food was great and the ambiance is a perfect local bar. Great spot to go if you don't mind hunting for a parking space.

I immediately didn't like the location because I thought it would be hard to find parking. After looking at the menu, I was intrigued by the family style service, which I like but I wasn't excited about the food options. Oh well, it's a work dinner.... Finding a parking spot was indeed a bit difficult. It took me about 15 minutes until I got one within a few blocks. Maybe it's just me, but as big as the restaurant is, it didn't stand out from the street, which set me up for a Frank Lloyd Wright experience of entering through a small confined experience and then after crossing the threshold the space opening up in a big way. Inside, the restaurant seems spacious. It's open and airy. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by a friendly greeter who showed me to the table. After sitting down, a waiter greeted me and asked me for a drink order within a minute or two. We were off to a good start! There were already some appetizer-type dishes on the table. I had no idea what they were but they looked interesting and I was hungry. Wow! They were tasty. Over a couple hours, I sampled all kinds of dishes and every one of them was excellent! They were creative and eclectic dishes. They were made of combinations of ingredients that by description alone didn't strike me as appetizing. How wrong I was! The service that we experienced was excellent too. Throughout the dinner the staff were super attentive and friendly. This restaurant proved all of my preconceptions wrong (except for the parking). The ambiance was good, and the food and service were excellent. I'll be back soon. Highly recommended!

The establishment was easy to locate, parking was limited and they offered indoor and patio seating. The inside was very loud but modern and cute. We honestly weren't wowd over the selection for entrees so we decided to go with appetizers, cocktails and desserts. The tots were crisp and the mole was a perfect flavor combo. The shrimp beignet was amazing, I could have ate two servings. For cocktails we ordered the "first born" and a classic margarita, both were tasty. And for desserts we chose the honey basque cheesecake (didn't love), 50/50 pot de creme 10/10, and the carrot cake churros (worth trying). Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, I didn't catch her name though. Over all, I'd say worth a try once, but I wouldn't choose again.
