Easy to miss hole in the wall and local favorite. I have been buying their pan dulce from the neighborhood produce market and had no idea they were right in town. Cash or credit taken. The staff are extremely friendly. What brought me was the promise of fresh churros. $1.50 each. You had me at hello. Grab a tray and help yourself to rows upon rows of different mexican pastries. Right next door is a hole in the wall restaurant called La Esquina Mexicana. I have no idea if they are affiliated, but the savory food pictures people posted will not be found here, but next door. read more

An article about Trigal's popular Churros brought me here. And since I wasn't far off from a hair appointment I had on North Ave, making a trip here was in order. The sweet smell and their colorful style fill this Mexican bakery on Union Ave. in New Rochelle. Trigal throws down big time with their fried-to-perfection outside Churros with a soft center and that intense scent before you bite. Plus those damn ridges catch all that sugary goodness. The only thing missing was a sinfully great caramel or chocolate dipping sauce- which none are offered and served as is. Parking is tight and double-parked right in front with one eye out and the other looking at my Churros as the gentleman placed in a brown paper bag. Cordial service even for my in and out. I got 2 Churros at a $1 ea. just to try them out. But word on the street is El Trigal has breads and Mexican hot chocolate- none I saw because I was hawking at that meter maid to avoid a ticket. It only makes sense to come here for their well-known Churros and other baked goods. This place smells fantastically sweet and would bet my bottom dollar El Trigal fries their Churros on site- I mean....why wouldn't they? read more

Superb churros and conchas on a chilly morning, should have gotten some hot chocolate too. Realized too late that you can walk around, serve yourself onto a tray with tongs, then checkout. read more

This is the type of place Anthony Bourdain would have loved. Restaurant side only features about three tables, with a mother and daughter team behind the counter working their magic, hike dad took calls and would do deliveries. My friend and I were driving back home to queens from Albany and told me about this spot so we stopped in on the way. We both had cemitas. He had bistec, I had al pastor. Bread was baked on site. Hot, soft and fluffy. The Al pastor was so flavorful! Add on the hot sauce and I was in picante heaven! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was awesome. I felt like I was in their home enjoying their hospitality. Behind us was a door that led to the bakery side of the establishment. I felt like Alice entering wonderland! Conchas, churros, donuts, breads, and all other types of pastries baked fresh on site all calling for you to take them home! It was amazing!! Concha's with my coffee this morning really hit the spot! They will definitely be seeing me again. read more

El Trigal Bakery - Al pastor cemita - Bakeries Near Me - New Rochelle, New York

Wonderful Mexican restaurant with warm and inviting staff and two specialties. On one side they are dedicated to sweets and on the other the savory but don't be alarmed nothing is lacking and you will enjoy both. The sweet... you will literally smell the sugar as soon as you step foot on the corner. When you walk in you are engulfed in sweetness. With a bakery at the back you pick up a pizza platter and some thongs and you go thru the various racks of treats and pick all that you desire. Large oversized pastries and breads, there is so much variety. The savory... next door (you don't have to leave you can walk from one side to the other) they make made to order Tortas, Tacos, Flautas, Burritos, Quesadillas, you name it. You have the option to stay or take them to go. Everything is extremely fresh and the different salas with varying heat levels are AMAZING. You are giving the option of homemade tortillas or standard. Go with their homemade, lighter and fluffier, why not? There Tacos are anything but standard 3 was actually too many, could only finish 2. Amazing not too far from Costco, great spot with great people only downside is parking truly sucks but the food and sweets are worth circling a few times. read more

Overall 4.5 stars Stopped by after dropping people off at the New Rochelle Metro-North station. Tried a Carnitas taco, Al Pastor taco and a Chorizo taco. Each was bursting full of meat and three of them together were a huge meal. They provided both a mild and hot sauce to try on them, as well as onion, cilantro and lime wedges. They were delicious and freshly made right in front of me. They take credit cards and the people working there are friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back to try some of the other stuff on the menu. One thing - The tortillas that they use for the tacos are handmade and larger and "fluffier" than the standard tortillas that most places use. Nothing wrong with them, just wanted to point out the difference. read more
