You want to be served Mexican comfort comfort food in a cozy simple dining room then you will appreciate this place. Consistent food served piping hot . This family owned business is one of the best values for those wanting an amazing and inexpensive meal! Tortas, Tacos, Caldo Res are all belly flling and delicious!

On a street filled with Mexican restaurants and cafes this place was incredibly quick with their service. The tacos are slightly cheaper than some other places ($2.75) and you can tell it's a family run business. I also enjoyed the chorizo tacos because they were much more flavorful in my opinion compared to other places I've eaten on the street. My only complain is the nachos didn't come with a dipping plate for the salsa

Don't overlook this hole in the wall! While its small and dressed down it has some of the bet Mexican food in new ro. Period. Mom and pop shop with all the best staples. Would give it a sold 4.5 stars pros: very inexpensive. Low key. Casual. Homemade taste. Great owners and staff. Cons: while its not necessarily a bad thing, I didn't get avocado with my meal. Cheers!

Good thing they give these chips for free. I guess the hair on one of them is free, too! No matter... i'd still come back to this place!

Place isn't fancy, just a space with 8 tables that each seat 4, not highly decorated. Their menu makes up for that, however. They have some ingredients in their menu that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the state. The only drawback is that the flavor wasn't anything incredible. I had a burrito de cabeza, and the meat was nothing much like the cabeza I had while in Sonora, MX. Maybe they're using cabeza from a pig instead of a cow? Anyway, if I was here again, I may give them another try.

Went in hoping for a breakfast burrito, noticed that they had breakfast but didn't have any burritos on menu. Wasn't a problem and whipped up one of the best burritos (not just breakfast) that I've ever had. Awesome spot.

This place has never disappointed me but today's take out was absolutely devastating, I was in the mood for a good steak torta and was thinking of doing it myself since a few doors down from this restaurant there's many markets where i could find all ingredients BUT instead I thought hey why not go to el Michoacáno and save me the hassle? So I ordered it and received the saddest looking TORTA that any Mexican& Mexico would be so ashamed to even look at they would probably give me their condolences and send me flowers. Hopefully the owners look at their reviews on this site even though this place is a hole in the wall and know that a real torta or so has REFRIED BEANS which THEY MISSED a nice few slices Not ONE slice of avocado at least a little more steak than just one slice of thin steak and uh ? no cucumber the fudge ? Really maybe lettuce would be better wouldn't they think ? Gosh , I'm so dissapointed . Here's a photo so my dear torta lovers feel pity for me I really need it.

So I was craving some tacos so decided to come here cause I heard it was good. And I had to say it was. The carne Asada and chicken taco were great. Each taco cost $2.75 which isn't bad. They have a lot of option to as what kind of meat you want in your taco which is good. I also had the mix chicken and pork torta. It was good. Although it could of been a lot bigger in size but it's still good for $7.00 I had a vanilla drink which was nice and sweet. Oh it is cash only so don't bother with the debit or credit cards. Overall it's a good place for Mexican food and I would go back for more.

Authentic Mexican! We found this place on Yelp looking for a quick dinner after leaving Glen Island park. 4.5 star rated and a single dollar sign? Sounds like we need to try it. Small spot, with only a few tables, a beverage cooler and the order counter. We ordered a variety of Tacos, Quesadillas, and a pork with pineapple dish. Have to say that everything was exceptional. All the dishes had lime and a roasted pepper on the side. If you're in the mood for authentic mexican, definitely give it a try.

Very loud music and very limited vegetarian options. They struggled to put together a veg burrito which is unusual for Mexican restaurants.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

This restaurant has been around for about…read moresix years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. We ended the night on a high note with dessert--one of the best flans I've ever had--paired with a glass of hot Mexican coffee. Absolutely delicious. Amazing food, great drinks, welcoming service, and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING.
