The staff were so pleasant and attentive! Huge thanks to Dee, Wakilay, and EZ for being so helpful and kind!! They have some nice artwork throughout. It would be nice if the happy hour went until 6 instead of 5:30. I sat at the bar. EZ did a great job making sure the bar area was kept clean, organized, and neat. There are seven seats for the bar and there is a tv. There is some indoor seating and outdoor seating as well. From where I was sitting at the bar I could see into the kitchen. The tortilla chips are left exposed to open air in a large bin. I think it would be helpful to have a cover over the bin so the chips are more protected and to delay them from going stale. It would be nice if the happy hour included some tacos as options. I got the sidewinder fires. There were a lot of fries! They were okay but they did not come with the Mexican blue cheese, as the menu stated is included. I was not informed ahead of time that there wouldn't be blue cheese. I mainly ordered them because I wanted to try them with the blue cheese. When I asked for the blue cheese they stated that it doesn't come with it but they can get me some. When they came back they stated that the restaurant doesn't have any Mexican blue cheese. I ordered the battered shrimp burrito bowl. It was alright. I think I would have preferred the grilled option more. The rice could be flavored more. Basically tasted like box rice. Jalapeños would be a nice addition to the bowl. The tortilla shell was pretty good. I added their branded hot sauce to the bowl, which helped improve the overall flavor of the dish. For drinks, I got a pomegranate margarita and a hibiscus margarita. Both were good choices and had nice presentations. You pay a $1 more for a flavor. I paid an up charge for the Tequila Ocho Reposado of a $1. However, I thought that the margaritas would have been the HH price outside of the flavor and premium upgrades and they were not. I would have appreciated price transparency when ordering. It would be nice if the aguas frescas had tamarind as an option. For dessert, I got churros which come with a chocolate mole and caramel dipping sauce. The churros are soft, kind of squishy, and much bigger than I expected. They were coated in a lot of cinnamon sugar. The dipping sauces both go really well with the churros. I ordered the churros before the happy hour ended but was still charged full-price. So again, not sure what happened here but price transparency would have been appreciated. Based on the lack of price transparency, I most likely won't return but I think it's a good place to try out if you're in the area.

This was my first visit back to La Casa since my initial visit back when they first opened. During…read moremy first experience, I wasn't too impressed and left a 3-star review. However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

This restaurant has been around for about…read moresix years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. We ended the night on a high note with dessert--one of the best flans I've ever had--paired with a glass of hot Mexican coffee. Absolutely delicious. Amazing food, great drinks, welcoming service, and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. The art work on the walls and different backdrops- great for a photo session. We were given two paper menus and an iPad with photos of the food. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING. We ordered Cuba Tabaco y Ron (Latino eggrolls) as an app - SO good. We got a Lomo Sushi Roll to share, which was tasty. I got the Roasted Pernil and my husband got the Honey Glazed Salmon. Both were delicious and filling. Would definitely check this place out if you enjoy Latin fusion food. It's such a cute and romantic place. I will say I got a headache from the red lights above us, I wish there would have been more clear lighting at the table but regardless this is a place to check out.
