The Taco Project was recommended to me by a neighbor, and I'm so glad we came! My partner and I both loved it. The Taco Project - Sautéed Fish Taco and Steak Taco - Mexican Near Me - New Rochelle, New York

Went here last night with hubby. I don't like that you have to go to the counter to order your food when it's an eat in establishment. Also, when I received my order it was wrong. I asked for the crispy cod fish taco with no radish and got a fried shrimp taco. I told the server the order was wrong but she insisted that the shrimp dish was my order. I had to get up from my seat to go to the counter to tell the cashier that she entered my order incorrectly as shrimp instead of cod fish. She told the server I was right and changed the order so I could get my correct order. When my cod fish taco the red cabbage slaw was twice the size of the crispy cod to the point where I had to rake it all off. Also, it was bitter and didn't taste like slaw. The salsa and guacamole was so faint you could barely see it let alone taste it and it cost $11.50. They gave my husband a condiment size portion of the pico de galo to accompany his chicken quesadilla. When he asked for more he was told by the server that they'd have to charge him $.75 for it!!! I ordered a watermelon margarita ($16) and it was good. My husband order a Kentucky Mule and he enjoyed his drink as well. Our total bill came to $68, which I didn't think was worth the portion of food given. La Herradura on Main Street in New Rochelle is way better with more generous portions plus you get complimentary chips and salad and their guacamole is to die for!!!! read more

The staff were so pleasant and attentive! Huge thanks to Dee, Wakilay, and EZ for being so helpful and kind!! They have some nice artwork throughout. It would be nice if the happy hour went until 6 instead of 5:30. I sat at the bar. EZ did a great job making sure the bar area was kept clean, organized, and neat. There are seven seats for the bar and there is a tv. There is some indoor seating and outdoor seating as well. From where I was sitting at the bar I could see into the kitchen. The tortilla chips are left exposed to open air in a large bin. I think it would be helpful to have a cover over the bin so the chips are more protected and to delay them from going stale. It would be nice if the happy hour included some tacos as options. I got the sidewinder fires. There were a lot of fries! They were okay but they did not come with the Mexican blue cheese, as the menu stated is included. I was not informed ahead of time that there wouldn't be blue cheese. I mainly ordered them because I wanted to try them with the blue cheese. When I asked for the blue cheese they stated that it doesn't come with it but they can get me some. When they came back they stated that the restaurant doesn't have any Mexican blue cheese. I ordered the battered shrimp burrito bowl. It was alright. I think I would have preferred the grilled option more. The rice could be flavored more. Basically tasted like box rice. Jalapeños would be a nice addition to the bowl. The tortilla shell was pretty good. I added their branded hot sauce to the bowl, which helped improve the overall flavor of the dish. For drinks, I got a pomegranate margarita and a hibiscus margarita. Both were good choices and had nice presentations. You pay a $1 more for a flavor. I paid an up charge for the Tequila Ocho Reposado of a $1. However, I thought that the margaritas would have been the HH price outside of the flavor and premium upgrades and they were not. I would have appreciated price transparency when ordering. It would be nice if the aguas frescas had tamarind as an option. For dessert, I got churros which come with a chocolate mole and caramel dipping sauce. The churros are soft, kind of squishy, and much bigger than I expected. They were coated in a lot of cinnamon sugar. The dipping sauces both go really well with the churros. I ordered the churros before the happy hour ended but was still charged full-price. So again, not sure what happened here but price transparency would have been appreciated. Based on the lack of price transparency, I most likely won't return but I think it's a good place to try out if you're in the area. read more

This has to be my favorite spot to go to when I don't know what to eat. The food is amazing, the servers are too. Melany was my first server there, she was so kind and fast. Food was excellent service not so much. First time there needed info and the cashier was not up on the menu they cater to take out and sort of ignored us until the end ask if we needed anything else and water but we were leaving didn't need anything else then. Would I go back Yes but next time more aware of what is on menu and how to order. Not helpful first time read more
