    Al pastor tacos.
    Alex Y.

I was craving some tacos and found this little joint thanks to Yelp! Food here was fantastic! Ordered al pastor and they were so flavorful. The tortilla was a bit thicker than normal corn tortillas at other places, but you can definitely tell that they were homemade. The tamales here was the best tamales I've had in a long time. It was loaded with chicken and the portion was really big. Also order the special platter and that thing was huge as well. It came with a big piece of steak, chorizo, and was loaded with rice. Looking at the menu options and seeing how the food came out, I would say it may be Guatemalan. Food was really good though regardless. Will definitely be back here again really soon!

This place was my saving grace on cinco de mayo! After realizing there was no chance we were getting a table at Viva Margarita, we decided to pick up tacos and head home for tequila shots and coronas instead. We stopped by El Trancazo which is located right around the corner from White Castle. The menu doesn't even pretend like it's trying to cater to non-Hispanics. It's all in Spanish and isn't Americanized at all. Muy auténtico. My friends needed me to come translate for them. Girl behind the counter speaks minimal ingles. We ordered steak tacos, al pastor tacos, chicken tacos and chicken corn tamales. The highlights for me were the steak tacos (so flavorful) and the chicken tamales which only cost about $2.50 and were huge!! Most delicious, cost efficient meal around. However, the delicious braised chicken thighs in the middle of these tamales have bones. The first one only had one big bone but the second one had lots of little bones which are always very upsetting to bite into. It can really ruin a meal. The corn tortillas seem homemade. Chicken tacos were very dry. Definitely skip. Not sure why they're using dry breast meat instead of thigh. Will definitely be back though. Awesome little spot.

I was invited here for breakfast and boy was I happy I accepted. My roomate decided to wake me up while recovering from a hang over. I almost declined the invitation, but I put my big boy pants on, took an advil and drank some water (no sun glasses) and was on my way. My roomate ordered for me, I'm not a picky eater so I didn't mind. My "big" breakfast included eggs, steak, bean cream, sour cream, and rice. At first it seemed like alot of food, but it was all so good. About half way through my plate my hangover was non excistant. Now I'm not saying this place is the cure for the common hang over, but I will say if u are looking for some great central American food this is ur place. I saw thier menu and I have to come back and try different items in their menu.

The restaurant is small with limited seating. The cashier taking orders speak minimal English. Be prepared to describe with some movement. The food portions, however, were huge. You are getting your money's worth and the taste is very authentic. We were able to order the special Trancazo and it is very delicious and feeds a whole family (literally). The beef tacos are very good and you are able to add extra salsa and green sauce. I wouldn't recommend dining in for a romantic date but if you are looking for homey comfort cheap take out Mexican food that is also yummy, then this is the place.

This place does not have a single menu laying around and it's not a good place if you don't speak Spanish.

My family is from Belize, Central America so eating their tamales and chuchitos Fritos is a delicious reminder of food back home.

I ordered a few different dishes, from calamari, to a shrimp dish with rice. I don't remember the names of the dishes, but it was all delectable and I found myself eating more and more of my leftovers throughout the day. Even at night I kept eating away. The location was very charming on arrival, and the server was very helpful with recommendations. The ambiance is intimate and charming, great for a catch up with friends or even a date. The sauces and slaw that came with the food were delectable! Especially the sauce for the calamari! Yum!!! I would definitely eat here again on a future trip to New York. I'd try some other things on the menu for sure!

Quick seating and fast service with really good food. I went with my go-to... Empanadas de Pollo: stuffed with shredded juanita's chicken. Always tasty but if I'm honest I can definitely do without the whole olives. Not a fan. Arroz Chaufa: Peruvian style fried rice mixed with chicken, bean sprouts, scallions, & soy sauce. With added shrimp for an additional cost. This dish always hits the spot especially with a heavy drizzle of the green sauce and washed down by a good passion fruit margarita. The portion size is also great and always provides for a tasty lunch the next day. Just A Note: Great for a group or a table for two.

Our Server, Ramon, did an exceptional job. The staff did a great job at clearing finished items and everyone's timing was spot on. We started with the Tostones Rellenos con picadillo (Green plantains stuffed with ground beef). This was a great starter. Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed. I capped off the meal with a Cortadito (A cortado is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of equal parts espresso and warm, lightly steamed milk. The name comes from the Spanish verb cortar (to cut), meaning the milk "cuts" the acidity and intensity of the espresso. I appreciated the cookie on the side and each sip was amazing. Some of the dishes are named after family members, which I thought was lovely, and there are family portraits all over the restaurant. It really felt like we were transported to someone's living room! I was chatting with a fellow diner at the table next to me, and we were raving about how comfortable and at home we felt. The chef Frances Roman also took the time to check in on each table and the people waiting outside the restaurant to see how they were enjoying the food and if they had any questions. The hospitality here is top tier! I ordered the bacalitos to start, which are cod fish fritters. They were nice and crispy. The sauce it came with really enhanced the flavor! I also ordered the guava and cheese pastelillos. Both pastelillos were also crisped to perfection. For my main dish, I had The Rican sandwich, which is a nice twist on the Cuban sandwich. The sandwich is made with pernil, Swiss, pickled onions, and the chef's own special garlic mayo sauce. It was absolutely delicious!! Cocotazo also has freshly, homemade juices. I recommend the Chi Chi Rodriguez, which is a mix of tamarind and passion fruit. It's not overly sweet. If you'd like to try the main dishes, I do recommend arriving hungry! The portions are super generous, and you will leave with happy and full bellies.
