I came her for brunch and it was ok. It was not my favorite place. So first it was a Sunday after a half marathon. There were a lot tables and only one person to a lot of tables both in the front and back. The bartender was helping so that was good. The service was good and between both employees it worked well. The food was ok; I ordered the Cuban which was big enough to be shared. The Cuban was ok nothing memorable. I also ordered a mojito and that was ok but it lacked enough sweet and the like coconut mojitos to have the coconut cream for the consistency. The ambiance was nice, music and fun. I would not return, while the food was ok; it was not memorable. Other people eating were quite happy so it can be me. I would definitely recommend you try it for yourself. The appearance of Bodega 88 was of a well appointed place to eat and drink. It also has outdoor eating.. It is a nice place for an evening out and the evening I was there the weather was heavenly. The community has a beautiful places to stop and have a drink or something to eat with a friend or family. I imagine this is one of many restaurants you can stop there to eat. I was there this evening because we were celebrating a family event. I decided I wanted to have a margarita. My nephew wanted one too. As I waited to get the bartender's attention I noticed people having a nice time. There were couples at the tables and friends seated at the bar. A nice vibe and in my humble opinion a positive vibe in a bar has a lot to do with the bartender but I did not and my nephew did not receive a pleasant vibe from the bartender. He looked right at me and nothing in his countenance said happy to meet you or happy to serve you. So when I finished my margarita I didn't order another. Great little sports bar on the Upper West Side. Came here with my family to watch the NBA finals. Super chill vibe. Lots of big screen TVS in the bar area and every booth has its own flat screen. Plenty of tapas and bar food available. Service is very good and attentive. Wings are available 4 different ways. They were crispy and well done. We ordered them with dry rub, buffalo, and Asian citrus. All were very good. Tacos come 2 to an order and we're stuffed with chicken and steak and topped with pico and guacamole. Nachos we're very good piled high with black beans, pico, guacamole, and cheese. Could have used more chips on the bottom, but I'm sure if we asked they would have more as I saw the server bring some to another table. I came here for happy hour and dinner on a Friday. They don't take reservations and seating is first come, first served. I arrived at 5:15 and all the low top booth tables were already taken. We sat at a high top with barstool seating. It was a little cramped, but it worked. They do have hooks underneath the tables for holding purses and jackets, which was helpful. The music was a tiny bit loud, but you could have a conversation with a slightly raised voice. They were playing fun, dancey reggaeton and latin hits. It attracted a diverse mix of people, both old and young. Happy hour ends at 7. They have $8 margaritas, mojitos, and caipirinhas. For an extra $1, you can add mango, passionfruit, or strawberry flavor to your margarita. I had both a mojito and a margarita. They were tasty, not too sweet, and decently strong, but not very memorable otherwise. To eat, we shared chips and guacamole. The guac was served with brightly colored tortilla chips, as well as a couple plantain chips. It was chunky and fresh. I also ordered chimichurri fries which were topped with manchego cheese. The chimichurri flavor was subtle so they were essentially cheese fries. They arrived very hot and it was a pretty good portion size. I enjoyed the spinach and cheese empanadas as well. The empanada crust was thick and perfectly fried. My friend got the shrimp tacos and said they were not the best. My sister enjoyed the chicharrones. Service was a bit slow, especially for the drinks. We were served by multiple waiters and they didn't do a good job of keeping track of our orders. At one point, they brought a drink that we didn't order. We initially refused it and they gave it to us anyway so we thought it was complimentary, but they ended up charging us for it. Just came here last night and had a wonderful evening. One of the better-priced Happy Hour options in town. Sat down outside with some friends and we ordered some very tasty red Sangria and a bunch of Empanadas (which come in 3 varieties - Spinach/Vegetarian, Chicken, and Pork). All of this was super-cheap, particularly by NYC standards (Empanadas at less than $3 each, Sangria/Wine at just over $6 per glass) - but all of it was flavorful. Service was prompt enough, but they took a while to get to our table at times simply because the place was decently packed for Happy Hour (even on a Monday). As to exactly how much things cost at the end, I've no earthly clue - since one of the people from my group snuck away to pay the bill before the rest of us could blink. My wife and I came here on Saturday as it was one of the only bars nearby that has HH on the weekend! We had a great host who got us seated immediately since we were going to only have a drink or two before dinner. The place has tvs playing games all over, 4 booths, and 4 table tops. My wife got 2 Sauvignon Blancs and I got 2 caipirinha Brazilian mixed drink. The wine was a good pour and the caipirinha was made well. I like that you can have happy hour and sit anywhere; with many restaurants you have to sit at the bar! The tequila housed for happy hour is Anza and it's $8, you can get a margarita with the same tequila at Applebees's happy hour for $5. I had to take a star off for that, use another tequila! And yes, they do taste very much alike (the taste is not bad at all but for $3 extra hmm ...). Happy hour is 11am-7pm which is great also. Don't sleep on the nachos I thought it was going to be small because of the bowl but it was PACKED with chicken that reminds me of tinga chicken. I've been here twice and had two very different experiences. The first time I was with a group of friends and we opted to sit outside. One thing to know is that their outdoor seating is not heated so make sure that you come bundled up. I had ordered the steak quesadilla which was amazing! The second time I was here, my group sat inside. The indoor seating is very limited with some seats at the bar and only seven tables max indoors. Service on a Thursday evening was a little slow but it allowed my friend group to catch up with each other. I had ordered the burger medium well and was disappointed when it came out rare. I sent it back and when they had brought it back, it was sloppily put back together with no toppings. I sent it back a third time since this was unacceptable. Needless to say, I'd skip the burger. I got the knob creek apple that I'm guessing had knob creek whiskey and some cinnamon (just the right amount mind you). My friend got the old fashioned that was pretty strong and very well made. The guava cream cheese empanada was unfortunately not good at all. Doughy and guava paste kinda filling but no sign of cream cheese. The Happy Hour is amazing. The garlic shrimps are over the top. The Ropa Vieja is off the charts and if you go during happy hour, it's half price.
