I was sideswiped when towing my trailer on the 91. I was worried how the insurance repair was going to go and had no idea where to take my 5th wheel. Mercury Insurance didn't know what bodyshop to send me to. I was referred to Mike at El Toro RV Service through a friend of a friend. Mike and Tony were great to work with. They worked around my schedule and kept me updated through the whole process. The repairs were done right the first time, and they didn't try to upsell me on things I didn't need, just straightforward honest service. It's rare to find a shop that respects both your time and your budget. With all the horror stories about RV repair on social media, it was refreshing to have such a good experience. Stay away! I brought my rv in with a slide issue. They told me I needed to change out all my hydraulic lines due to a leak that was causing my slide to creep out. After hearing it was going to cost 7000.00 I was very reluctant to do the repair. I told them my hydraulic lines were fine because there was never any hydraulic leaking from anywhere. They assured me this would fix the problem so I went ahead and made the repair. Changing out these hydraulic lines did not fix the problem. I told them the amount they charged me was not acceptable and I was so angry because I just completely wasted $7000. They only agreed to reimburse me 1000. I know they completely scammed me with this repair. As long as this company has been in business they should know how to fix a slide that keeps pulling out. As of today, my problem is still not fixed. I recently hired them to fix a few more issues and once again was charged 200 hourly rate. They over charge by taking their time for the repairs and charge you as if you are being billed as a law office does. All of these repairs should've been done in half the time, but they keep billing to get the price up as high as possible. The other major issue is that they take no pride in their work and it does not reflect a $200 hourly maintenance repair. I'm attaching photos showing a recent repair with my electric step and how they left the wires just hanging in flapping in the elements. You can also see the dirty carpet. They recently kept my RV for three weeks in during that time stained my carpet by walking back-and-forth when they changed out the toilet. I was charged over $800 to change a toilet in the meantime stained my carpet. All they did was put pieces of paper on the carpet Which moved around and allowed their dirty shoes to trample on the carpet and leave stains. If you deal with Mike, you will see how he spins in lies about how they do things and the cost. He comes across more like a used car salesman. When I complained about my dirty carpet, he actually told me they have to charge extra to cover the floor properly . This is Just a lie and another spin on his explanation of things. What company is going to charge you extra to keep your floor clean while they're working inside of your RV? What a joke! This place will gouge you and charge you for repairs that they are only guessing how to fix. These people are far from honest and I would stay away. Hopefully we can all come together and help put this company out of business. We need to stop places like this from taking advantage of honest people. I see you responded to my review and once again you are spinning the truth. 1 if you were correct with the hydraulic leak fixing my slide it would be working properly right now. You charge me $7000 to fix hydraulic lines that were absolutely not leaking. Otherwise I would see hydraulic fluid all over the ground. Now I'm out that money and still have a broken slide. Shame on you because you're nothing but a bunch of amateurs that are just guessing on how to fix something. 2 in regards to the step repair I had to bring it back in to have the wires insulated properly with a plastic sheeting. This is the type of repair that should've been done from the beginning when you're charging $200 an hour for shop rates. You are lying about me taking advantage of leaving my RV there for three weeks and getting free storage. Do you actually think I wanna be without my RV and leave it at your shop so you can trample on my carpet and not even offer to clean it properly . The RV was there for three weeks which originally I was told no longer than a week. We were not waiting for a water pump you moron we were waiting for the correct toilet since Mike ordered the wrong one. That water pump was there within four days And you still charge me over two hours to install it. Either you guys or amateurs or you're taking advantage and taking your sweet time to charge me the max amount of labor. 3 I asked Mike about replacing my camera and he said absolutely because he had all the contacts since he's been in this business for so long. Well guess what I paid over $150 for you to remove my camera and put the same old, broken one back in. You guys are an absolute joke! 4 this last visit I had cost me $2300 of which $600 was for Parts. You can see the amount you charge me for labor is astronomical and you absolutely are not worth it. I know on that hydraulic repair that 90% of that $6000 was for labor of which you did not fix my original problem. I should've taken you to court and show the judge of what crooks you really are. I was an aircraft mechanic for 15 years and I know how maintenance is done. You absolutely lied to your teeth about the hydraulic system leaking because that was not the issue. I wanted to install a black tank flush system in my old Class C RV but the placement of my black tank made the job seemingly impossible. Mike and his team from El Toro RV Service worked a creative solution that involved some body work adjustments and got the job done. I'm very happy with the result. I also had them do a propane system inspection and upgrade to my A/C return. It is important to note that I brought my RV in for service in July, during peak RV travel season when RV service shops are swamped and customer service typically goes by the wayside. I didn't just jump to writing this bad review. I talked to El Toro and explained the situation several times. They tried to say that there is no way that my issue could have been caused by them. That's just false and it tells me something about the way they think about customer service. Just look at the picture. They finally asked me to send an email with a picture. I did weeks back. Crickets. I called one more time and still nothing. I understand that mistakes happen. It was the lack of customer care that I object to. This review closes out the books on doing business with El Toro. 1) I went in to have the fresh water tank fill replaced. It was leaking. They did it and charged me about $300. I'm not sure if that is the right price. It sounded like it was in the ball park. But then they told me that the reason the fresh water fill broke is because the fresh water tank was moving. To secure it they would have to put a piece of wood on the floor board to keep the tank from moving. That was going to cost me another $300. I didn't let them do that. I went right over to Home depot and it cost me around $3 dollar and 3 minutes. Then they wanted to charge me $100 to replace the propane hose. I did it myself for $15 and no minutes. 2) A few weeks later my plumbing stopped working off of the fresh water tank. I replaced the water pump. The water still didn't work. So I called a mechanic. After the previous gouging attempts, I wasn't going to take it back to El Toro. Especially because I had no idea that it was going to be their fault. After almost $400 of labor and a few days. The mechanic narrowed the problem down to a clog in the line caused by the silicone that El Toro used to seal the fresh water fill. I didn't even expect them to reimburse me for the cost. I thought a plausible solution would be a credit for service. But after this lack customer care, I don't want them anywhere near my rig. "Fri, Nov 15 at 9:12 AM Message Body El Toro Rv Service, The water stopped working in the RV. I replaced the water pump. That didn't fix the problem. So I called a mechanic. To come have a look. After several hours, he found that the fresh water tank hose leading to the pump, was clogged with white silicone. After the clog was removed. the water worked perfectly in the RV. You can see from the picture of the fresh water intake that the silicone came from the replacement that was done by El Toro rv service recently. I have no way to make you compensate me for the work done by the other mechanic and I don't want take you to small claims court. Recently I sought to have a Dometic truck/van/rv fridge repaired by El Toro RV Service. EL Toro RV Service is an authorized Dometic service center. The control panel was not powering on, thus leaving the compressor to run without a temperature monitor, and no internal door light. El Toro incorrectly rewired the control connections in such a way that the power inputs for a 12v source were occupied, leaving only 120v input as an option. Not only that, they left a damaged terminal in the system. From what I can tell, their "technicians" did no more than jiggle a few wires or reconnect terminals until something powered on. Long story short, the unit functioned the same as when I brought it in. I was charged $192. When I called in to mention the issue they told me the next available date to re-inspect the repair would be 2 weeks later. If you're looking for any type of appliance repair for your RV, Van, etc., save your money and go elsewhere. I was able to fix the unit myself finally after being able to review the wiring connections on a similar model. I am not a trained professional and fixed the unit in a matter of minutes. El Toro RV Service was a complete waste of time and money. EDIT: Following the above review El Toro RV's team contacted me and offered a 50% credit. While not the full amount, I do believe that this does shows a certain commitment to the service of their customers. Their response was professional and appreciated. read more

I am so disappointed with our recent experience with El Toro RV, previously owned and operated by American RV. Our experience with the previous owner was excellent, and we were sad to see them go. We were told that El Toro RV was good to work with by someone in the RV industry, so we gave them a try, and wow, what a disappointing experience it was. In addition to being very expensive for labor, we were not impressed with the quality of customer service. We were scheduled to pick up our RV on Thursday, after having spent well over two thousand dollars there! However, we had a family emergency that prevented us from picking it up until today, Friday. We notified them in the afternoon on Thursday that due to unforeseen circumstances, we would not be able to pick it up Thursday, but we would be there first thing Friday morning. This morning when we called El Toro RV to let them know that we were on our way to pick up our rig, the person I spoke to said in a very condescending and passive aggressive manner, "Oh you mean the one that sat out all day yesterday?" This comment was unprofessional, rude, and completely unnecessary. After reviewing the work that was done on top of our motorhome, we are not impressed, and realized we could've done the same job with a caulking gun on our own. The expression, " you get what you pay for" is not what we experienced here. We paid a great deal of money for substandard work and service. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews as a business owner it makes my stomach crawl but after months of trying to get them to do the right thing I am left to share my terrible and expensive experience. This business has left damage to our coach which they denied causing as well as mechanical issues with our slide that we did not have prior to their work. We had set up to have the work done in October 2023 with pre-approval from our manufacturer given to them to have all the materials ready for them at this time. Not only did they fail to do the work while they had it they also did not even order the materials. We came to pick it up after two weeks to find out they had not done anything, even after they had agreed to try to get it done during this time since we are full-timers. To say we were disappointed is a massive understatement! Since they are the only approved repair facility on the West Coast our manufacturer-approved for warranty work we had to go back to them for the repair in May 2024. Upon returning and opening our slide we had deep gouges on our floor, a loud grinding noise from our slide, the slide not retracting properly, the slide riding on the floor in transit, and now more gouges on our floor. After talking to and taking multiple measurements the manufacturer of the slide mechanism informed us that the repair shop had most likely caused a misalignment in the slide system which resulted in all of our problems post their repair. We are especially concerned about their lack of accountability for the damage they caused. They specifically told us our slide would have to be removed to make the repair so we emptied everything but clothes before we took it in both times to later be told they did not remove the slide. This begs the question why did they tell us that twice and our manufacturer told us that was standard procedure too? Now that we have both physical and mechanical damage they are claiming they did not remove the slide but they clearly moved, jacked it up, or did something to cause the proceeding issues we now have post their work. They have only agreed to pay half of fixing our floor. Nothing to realign our slide and mechanisms which is clearly the biggest issue. Our slide does not even suck in all the way at the bottom anymore. My recommendation is to video and get everything they intend to do in writing if you have to take your RV here. Best of luck because this has been the worst situation I've ever experienced from car, motorcycle, home, or RV repair. Took my Jeep in to have Roadmaster Invisibrake installed. The install was just OK. Many of my lights were flashing and the seatbelt wires was just not plugged back in under the seat. AND....... They dented my Wrangler by removing the webbing on the drivers door without putting sufficient foam in to keep the mirror from denting the cowl. Larry admitted to their fault then wanted to have his guy do the repair. When dropping the car off I asked what the repair plan was and it included grinding and filling and painting and he needed 3 days. Asked if the repair person had any experience with this dreaded cowl dent and he said no. I said I didn't want to leave it and that I had an estimate for paintless dent removal. He said he would ask the owners to pay for the repair. I had it fixed in 2 hours for $415. Thus far Larry refuses to even call me back. $415 is way less $ than it would have cost them to fill, grind and paint for three days! They are moving locations but I think the careless technicians will still be there! AND I just bought a RV and had a lot of work to do after buying it. I wont be going here! First impressions are a huge for me, so when a company won't respond to phone calls and emails when trying to obtain service, I move on. After an initial phone call, I was told to email photos of service I wanted performed. I did that and after a week of no return contact made a phone call and was told there would be follow-up contact, which never happened. I was looking for a routine repack of my axle bearings and ended up adding a Moryde suspension assembly. I was able to get an appt only a few weeks away and they took great care of my trailer. Price was reasonable for the assembly, bearing repacking, and brake check. Work was done quickly. What a rip off! I purchased 4 tire stem valve extensions from Amazon and took them El Toro RV and asked if they could install them for me. Nope, but I could buy their stem extensions, but they'd see if my Amazon ones might work. I needed a black water vent cap replacement on the roof. A $6.00 part along with caulking. I got quoted $364.00. After replacing the black water vent cap, they discovered the gray water vent cap needed to be replaced which bumped my quote up to $612.00! I politely declined it and just bought the vent cap and caulking (I'll figure it out on YouTube). I ended up paying over $500.00! When I got home, I realized they actually used 2 of the stems I purchased on Amazon. I paid for their freaking shop stems and they didn't use them on my RV! I should've taken a guy with me because I got hosed by these jerks! What a huge waste of money and a nasty lesson! read more

Find another RV place that treats their customers right. I called on a Friday afternoon and spoke with two different people asking for Floyd to call me. They had my rig for almost two weeks and we had not heard anything. I went on Tuesday to get an update. I didn't come in upset- told the man at the desk I wanted an update because I wanted to change the service order. I didn't mention not getting called back at this point. I did end up sharing my experience and a blue shirted man from the back came out and very insistently told me they did call me back at the number on the order and were not able to leave a message. I told him I gave my number and no one called. I shows my phone screen that no calls came in between Friday and Tuesday from them. He didn't look at my phone because he wanted to prove they called me so he was checking the phone history log. He gave up on looking and told me it did happen. Once he showed me the paperwork I saw it was the wrong number on the order. A number had been transposed. The conversation should have ended right there. But nope! I told him i see the number they had was wrong let's move on and where are we with the rig. I waited for a bit and Floyd showed up and began telling me about the "repair" they made that we did not authorize! But they didn't fix the other item because they couldn't get ahold of us. This made no sense. Fine - I just wanted to get out of there. But no, Floyd made a comment about calling me back and I said, no one called me on the number I left. No big deal- let's move on. I had my answers. The blue shirt man from the back barreled out with a laptop to prove to me they called my number - (not the one on the order, that he told me they previously called). I looked and saw he was showing me the log of my call - not the outgoing attempt. When I pointed that out, he walked away. I left feeling like I had been bullied. I never attacked or raised my voice about not being called back- I was annoyed but as soon as I saw the number on the paperwork was wrong- the issue was over. Of course they couldn't call for an update or authorization to make a repair. Not sure how they justify charging me for a repair I didn't authorize but I don't want to fight about it. I got my rig back- it's over- but I do want other RV'ers to know so hopefully you can have a better experience with another RV service place than this. read more

Took my RV in for a number of services to include: Tank indicator not working properly Awning adjustment Refrigerator latch repair Headlamp replacement Cellular phone booster installation El Torro RV had possession of my vehicle for five weeks to make all repairs. When I picked up my RV the refrigerator latch and headlamp had not been repaired/replaced. Since I wasn't billed, I accepted as I needed the RV for a scheduled trip. After using the RV awning the first time after service, upon return the awning did not close properly. It was out of adjustment as it was previously before paying for repair. The first time the black water tank was used after repair the indicator gauge did not read properly just as it was prior to paying El Torro RV to fix. I was told the 160,000 dollar RV had a poor tank design and there was nothing that could be done. I called and spoke to Manager Tony to voice my concerns. He was friendly and apologetic and stated he would check and call me back. Tony never called. I now await another appointment at another repair facility to have items fixed that I paid El Torro RV to complete. My travel trailer needed a new awning and support arms. Rocko and Mike took in my trailer and had it fixed in two weeks. Their connections to parts vendors paid off as they were able to get the parts in 8 days. Both email and phone communications were very good as they kept me updated. This is a great company that does quality work quickly. I got quotes from a couple of the big RV sales companies and they estimated about 8 weeks. I highly recommend El Toro RV Service. read more

We live in Santa Barbara and needed to find somewhere to get some work done on our RV. I used to live in Orange County and figured there would be more choices down there. So, I jumped on Yelp and found El Toro RV. I began communicating with Tony. He was amazing in his follow thru and his customer service. He helped me get the parts ordered that I wanted to install (Hydralift for my motorcycle and AGM batteries.) Dropped off the RV and install was done really well. They even had to weld on extra steel to my chassis to hold the lift and my bike. Second trip to see them was last week. They fixed my hot water heater, did an oil change, fixed my Direct TV and did some other small things that the dealer had screwed up on (yep, lesson learned.) Again, fantastic job and communication from Tony. I can tell you that I will not bring my RV to the dealer for any more repairs. Tony and El Toro RV has earned my business.
