I've never seen or heard anything about it, but against all odds got lost after getting my car serviced and found my way here. You walk in and immediately see windows and windows of fresh seafood and tanks, and stainless steel sinks lining the perimeter of the restaurant complete with paper towels. Growing up on the coast, I didn't think I'd find something like this in Nashville but was so pleasantly surprised. The prices are more than fair, and everything somehow tastes so fresh, as if it was fresh caught. There's a Louisiana vibe to the place, complete with an inspired mural. The crab legs were delicious but I want to come back and try the oysters! This is definitely the best place to get your true Cajun fix in Nashville.

My parents are visiting America for the very first time -- literally their first time outside China -- and I wanted to take them somewhere that felt truly local, not a chain restaurant or tourist spot. Get Your Grub On was exactly that kind of place. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. You can immediately feel that this is real homemade cooking -- not "corporate restaurant food." Watching him work in the kitchen and smelling the food coming out fresh honestly made the whole place feel like a true American Southern "farmhouse/local comfort food" experience. We ordered the fried chicken, catfish trio, and chicken pasta. The fried chicken was AMAZING: * perfectly crispy outside * juicy inside * smelled incredible the moment it came out But the real surprise was the catfish. It was unbelievably tender -- literally melt-in-your-mouth soft while still fresh and flavorful. Easily some of the best catfish I've ever had. Portion sizes were HUGE too. Three people ate for around $70 and we were completely full. Yes, the seasoning is definitely Southern-style and a bit salty for some Asian tastes, but even my parents -- who are completely Chinese and very familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine -- still genuinely enjoyed the food and kept talking about how good and unique the experience was. That says a lot. This place feels like the kind of hidden local restaurant that makes traveling meaningful. Not fancy. Not trendy. Just real people making real food with heart. Highly recommended if you want authentic local Southern comfort food and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

The wings and fish were really nice and crispy. The lemon pepper seasoning was better than most other chicken places so that was a nice surprise. It ended up taking a little longer, but I didn't mind because I could tell everything was cooked fresh. I would definitely recommend this place!

Found out they ran out of chicken ‍ The counter person was on her phone the entire time and not checking online order tickets or food as it was coming out from the kitchen. She was being rude on top of it all. Sounds like they were messing up people's orders as I heard another customer put on speaker with the same girl at the front. She didn't check customer receipts for some people ahead so I'm assuming she messed up the orders. Luckily the food is solid and I'm supporting this business since they lost their one of the owners to tragic and unfortunate circumstances. Hopefully they do better if there is a next time.

The bag was stapled shut, so it was obvious the order was sent out unfinished, not tampered with during delivery. I called the restaurant immediately and spoke with the manager, Joey. I don't want a refund -- I wanted the food I paid for. Serving incomplete meals and refusing to correct them is unacceptable. That's terrible service. Overall the 3 bags we ordered were over salted. The seasoning wasn't what we would have expected and the crab had no flavor. The corn and sausage were also over salted. The only thing we enjoyed was the potato. We were starving so ate everything and made a point to not return here. The…read morebase of vegetable broth mixed with coconut milk was creamy yet not heavy (with a blend of yellow and red curry spices, according to the menu -- sadly I am not that well versed in curries!). The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the tofu was browned to perfection. The grilled broccoli and cauliflower were snappy and contrasted well with the rest of the ingredients. The dish had a spicy yet tolerable kick to it, but I have a very high threshold for spice and heat (I added chili oil to take it up a notch!). Also, the portion size is BIG. I was very hungry so I had no issues finishing most of it, but it could easily be shared between two adults, especially if you order an appetizer or side. I loved the interior decor, which was simple yet eye catching. The mural encompassing the entire space in particular looked really cool. The place was packed, but the friendly staff were hustling to keep the line moving.

The hardest part about eating at Degthai is beelining to the Tiew Gang Vegan. (BTW, I am not Vegan, yet I LOVE the Tiew Gang Vegan.) They do everything well - the other curries, the standard noodle dishes, the dumplings - and it can be tempting to just go with your regular go-to dish like Pad Thai w/Chicken (BORRRINGG, but they do it well nonetheless.) You've gotta try the Tiew Gang Vegan. It's truly a once-in-a-year of eating out experience finding a dish this incredible. It competes pound-for-pound in the same heavy hitter weight class as the best Pho, Ramen, Jjamppong, or Beef Noodle Soup you've ever had. I've now been to Degthai 10 times, and have gotten the Tiew Gang Vegan the last 5 times in a row.
