This is my best friend's go to place and I can understand why! The food here is always solid, they are open late, and prices are extremely reasonable! We got started off with the free chips and salsa. The chips were warm and delicious! I decided to go with the Mexican street tacos on corn tortillas. They give you a choice of meats so I went with one chorizo and two carnitas. The chorizo was standard but the carnitas, WOW. I don't think I've ever had carnitas this soft! This came with a side of beans which was a huge amount. I definitely took food home, which was enough for another meal. If you're looking for your go-to Mexican place, look no further! Where has this place been?!? I need to spend wayyy more time in Lenox Village. Anyways, we came here on a whim for some margaritas and quest because why wouldn't you? We were immediately greeted and sat, and our waitress was prompt and friendly. We took some time to look at the menu and decided on a coronarita and a Miami vice. Both were tasty and strong. We got a quest to split and I had fish tacos while she had steak tacos. The food was perfect. I love fish tacos and I honestly have nothing but positive things to say about theirs. Perfectly seasoned fish with the right amount of like and slaw on top. Awesome! We wanted another drink but we were stuffed to the gills, thankfully, our waitress made our drinks to go and we enjoyed them on the couch. I cannot wait to go back for their happy hour (they also do a daily food special!). My Fiancé and I live close to this location and have been coming here a few times a month for the past year! The servers and staff are always very friendly and the food always comes out hot, fresh, and delicious. We find El Sombrero great for a quick and fresh takeout meal with their fajita bowl option OR we find it great for taking guest here to enjoy their margaritas and fun atmosphere. I recently left a pair of nice sunglasses when we were dining in and the owner was sure to keep them for me until I picked them up the next day. Ate here tonight and found this place has great tasting Mexican food. I love how the flavors blend so well together. I highly recommend the chicken tamale - the chicken was moist and the masa wasn't dry at all. Their beans are so yummy - I have found my new favorite restaurant!! I also order the peach margarita and asked the waitress to have the rim dipped in Tajín - YOU MUST DO THIS! I felt like I was back on the beach In Cancun. I'm surprised, but El Sombrero has become my "go to" local authentic Mexican place! The menu is big and creative, great margaritas , and perfect salsa, chips, and queso! The Tacos de Pastor is to die for, and I'm not even much of a pork fan, they must marinate it for like 24 hours... The flavor is out of this world. I also love the Hawaiian Burrito, and they are SO COOL about letting you change around what they put inside without a hassle or an upcharge. Nice!! My only complaint is the margarita prices, they make NO SENSE!!! A regular 12oz is like $5.95, and I got a 16oz once and it was $14.99 - WHAT?!? It makes no damn sense, because then it jumps up to a 48oz for only $19.99!!! So, go BIG or just keep ordering the 12oz, AVOID the 16oz at all costs! read more

We did a to go order - parts of our order was missing. I typically rate Mexican food based on their rice and beans. They weren't bad but not the best. Chicken and beef crispy tacos were good. The pastor burrito tasted more like a bbq flavor. The burrito was supposed to be filled with more ingredients and it only had meat inside so it was not what we expected. This is the local Mexican chain to grab dinner with the girls friends mid-week. I have to admit it's mediocre at best on the good days. However this trip I was more disturbed by their lack of Covid safety precautions. They were refilling drinks table side with common pitchers, communal chips and salsa, and not enforcing social distancing of tables. My beef hard shell taco was okay-the ground beef was a greyish color. The enchiladas on special were good, but they were cheese enchiladas so it's hard to mess that up. Servers allowed us to move tables but I didn't see them wipe down the table we'd been at before it started raining. It was uncomfortabley warm inside which is why we opted for outside on a mild evening. All in all, not impressed with my first venture back to in person dining here and will likely stay away after this experience. read more

Myself, my Mother, Mother in Law and cousin went here for lunch on Mother's Day and I really wish we hadn't. The wait wasn't long and the food was good, but the service was lacking. Alfredo was our waiter and was extremely rude. He would ask us what we wanted and then walk off. There was a sign that said Mother's were 50% off. We forgot to mention this until the end and when we brought it up, he laughed and said that he would only give my Mother and MIL the discount. We laughed it off thinking he was joking until he brought the checks back. Myself and my cousin let him know that we were mothers as well and he demanded that we show a picture to prove it. Again, not thinking he was serious we laughed it off. He brought the checks back and it was still incorrect. After bringing it to his attention again, he said that he didn't take it off of my check cause we weren't mothers. At this point, I was irritated with the entire experience and just took and paid the check. Super close to my neighborhood and super yummy. This is our go to Mexican restaurant in Nashville. The staff is friendly and the service is usually really great and fast. I recommend the Pollo Real & adding some queso to it... Also, the Mexican style tacos are great. other than that, they have all of your Mexican food staples and they're all good. I do wish they had a little bit of a bigger or more local beer selection but that's just a personal wish. We bring our two toddlers there pretty often and they're very welcoming and accommodating to the little tykes. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat. If you are looking for something trendy where people are all dressed up and drinking fancy drinks - this isn't the place for you. If you are still reading - and looking for a good Mexican restaurant with reasonable prices and strong drinks - look no further! Its super casual with a 'come as you are' attitude. Its right across the street for Pie in the Sky (another favorite of mine) in the Lenox Village area on Nolensville Rd. During warmer weather a friend and I are known to share a couple pitchers of margaritas and chow down on some good, fresh Mexican food on the outside patio. If you go any night of the week during the spring and summer - you'll find the patio packed. Personally - I enjoy the shredded beef chimichanga which has the glorious melted white queso over it with beans and rice (7.99). The chips and salsa are great as is the queso dip (2.99 for the queso dip on the side). I also enjoy their tacos (a little over a dollar for 1 beef taco). The shells are very fresh and light with a generous amount of crumbled queso fresco cheese. (I know I've mentioned the cheese 3 times now - but its soooo good in all the ways they serve it). Most every night they have a drink special of some sort. However, I love the pitchers of margaritas!! They can be strong, of course...but they are cheap. Around 15 bucks for a pitcher and it is a BIG pitcher. Buying a couple margaritas elsewhere would cost you a much. So, usually - dinner, drinks and tip - I'm out the door for around 30 bucks. But we have split 2 pitchers, had a great dinner with chips, salsa and queso (the queso is extra). If you come there enough (I do) they start to get to know you. The servers are always friendly and they always want to make sure you had a good time. Oh, and I almost forgot - I recently had their sangria. It was incredible. You have to try it too! Check the board when you come in - they'll have their drink specials listed there. If you are looking for a great place to go to have some good, authentic mexican food for not a lot of money - I have to recommend El Sombrero. read more

3.5 I really wanted to like this place more. The prices are great, the service is really nice, and the outside patio is a nice place to enjoy a meal. The food was good but didn't knock my socks off. We came here on a Friday night so it was pretty full but we were able to get a seat outside right away. The patio is next to the parking lot but it's still a nice covered area. The service was quick and attentive. I was shocked to see the prices of beer. $1.75 for a draft beer. Well, I should say for Bud Light or Miller Lite. They have other options that are still much cheaper than most places in Nashville. I think they had other drafts for under $3. The food menu is also reasonably priced. I really liked their combo options. It seems like the most bang for your buck. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin steak and I ordered the Combo #4 which was 2 tacos, 1 enchilada, and 1 chili con queso. We were also served chips with salsa right when we sat down. The salsa was just ok. It could have used some more flavor. The other food was out pretty quickly and everything looked really good. My boyfriend's steak was huge and was served with vegetables, rice, and soft taco shells. He was able to cut up the steak and make some yummy tacos. I had a bite of the steak and it was good. Not great but for the pretty low price it was decent. My tacos were shredded chicken and the enchilada was shredded beef. I was a bit disappointed with the flavor of meat in both. The meat is cooked with tomatoes, onions, and I think peppers but it really just tasted like bland meat. The shredded chicken was almost too juicy because by the time I got to my second taco it fell apart. The taco shell was too soggy so I had to just eat the meat with a fork. The sauce on the enchilada was ok. Again, lacking a lot of flavor. The chili con queso was ground beef covered in queso on top of a baked tortilla. This was pretty good but I was hoping for more queso and less meat. But maybe that's just because of my obsession with queso. Overall, the meal was ok. I think some of the other stuff on the menu looked better so next time I'll try something else and hopefully update my review. If you're in the area I think it's worth a try.
