I only eat fish & veggies. To my surprise the fish taco was better than the cauliflower taco- I wish the cauliflower were deeply roasted but it was still good. I went back after I left to get 2 more fish tacos (overload) because it was so phenomenal. The tacos are actually really big! 2 or 3 is probably enough for one person. The staff was nice & you can earn loyalty points here. The tres leches parfait was PHENOMENAL! I would go back just for that! I love this place & will probably visit every time I'm in Murfreesboro! The food is absolutely incredible. I got the Parrillada Toro single serving and everything about the dish was amazing and seasoned perfectly. Was just stopping through the city. We dined here on a Friday around 2PM! They have live music. He played Jazz which i thought was strange for a Mexican restaurant but it was still a nice touch. This was my first visit here and it was really good. The interior had a rustic feel and was welcoming. Our server was very friendly and service was very good. We had several employees check in with us to see if we needed anything. They were playing some authentic Mexican music. They also have a full bar and several TV's just in case a game is on. Full disclosure, I grew up in California and am on a quest to find a Nashville area restaurant serving the best, most similar food to what you can find in So Cal. Service at El Toro Loco was great. Both were very good, but I preferred the flavor of the steak (and it wasn't gristly at all!). Also ordered the side of rice and beans and it was a generous portion. ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE. I wanted to order an a la carte chimichanga. Not only did it point it out on the menu, I stated that I only wanted the chimichanga. When my food came out, it was a full plate of rice and beans and I let the waiter know that I only wanted the chimichanga. He walked away nodding his head. When I got my check I noticed that I was charged the full plate price. I pointed this out and not only did he say that I was wrong. He said that I lied about only wanting just the chimichanga. This will be my first and last time attending this place. Their margaritas taste non alcoholic and the food is mediocre. The only thing great about this place was the guy singing Jazz. What a joke. Our entrees included the chicken chimichanga and the shrimp tacos, both from the lunch menu. Our food was good, the service was friendly, and the restaurant (including restrooms) was very clean. So so. The chips and salsa were good, that was the best part of the meal. The chili relleno was edible , the cheese enchilada was not. Mushy like an uncooked tortilla. The service was good and it looked clean. For us it was one and done. read more

An average Mexican stop. Very small, clean place, with friendly staff. The regular salsa tasted like pace, the spicy salsa did not taste fresh-Mixed together they tasted better. Ordered chicken street taco, the chicken was grilled the perfect amount with a good seasoning of flavor on it. Also ordered a steak street taco. The steak was not very seasoned and average tasting- good but nothing special. Also ordered a Burrito Autentico- this burrito was a good size with a lot of meat inside. The green sauce on top was very salty and the steak inside was average but the pieces were too big making it harder to eat. Overall this place is an average Nashville area Mexican place. read more

Loved this place! Food was delish and service was fantastic. Our food was on point and we had food-envy of every other plate that came out of the kitchen. We've been to a lot of Mexican food places in the area and El Toro our favorite. Food is a tad better, service is great and ambiance is fun.

Solid Mexican food. I had the enchiladas - beef, chicken, cheese and ground beef. My enchiladas were covered with sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream - abundantly. It was very tasty and filling. My wife had the burrito with steak, chicken and chorizo. It was the size of a small animal - it was huge. But aside from being huge, she absolutely loved it. The meats and sauce were a hit for her. Lunch came with tortilla chips (needed salt) and salsa. Overall, it was a terrific meal for a great price. If you want solid Mexican food (and a lot of it) for a fair price, you'll love this place. read more

We've been in TN for about 3 years now and hadn't found a great little Mexican restaurant until now! Everything was DELICIOUS!! My husband and I started with the Homemade Guacamole. So good...then shared the Shrimp Ceviche and the Steak, Chicken & Shrimo Fajitas. All amazing!!! Stopped in around 5 pm on a Wednesday. The Good : larger restaurant than it appears from the outside of the strip mall. Nice decor and ample seating. The house salsa is very good with a chunkier rustic feel. I also got some tomatillo salsa which is spicier and has a good heat to it. Draft Modelo was $2.00 so I got that also. For the main dish I ordered the Jalisco Fajitas which is their steak, chicken, shrimp combo. Ample meat and might even have been enough for two people. Only 3 tortillas which is a bit short for the amount of meat and peppers provided . I didn't ask for more as I wanted to low-carb it a bit. Cooked nicely. The typical side plate of refried beans, guac, Pico de Gallo was pretty standard.. nothing above average. Now for The Bad: for dessert I ordered the fried ice cream and what I got was not fried ice cream. No granola or corn flake crust with honey and cinammon deep fried, etc.. it was merely two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a fried tortilla bowl with ReddiWip and chocolate syrup..for $5.99. Also... I later checked my bill and the Jalisco Fajitas are listed at $17.99 and I was charged $19.99... some bill padding going on? My other gripe is a common one. They were playing Country music for the house music. . Somehow eating Mexican food to the strains of Shania Twain doesn't seem apropos. I have the same gripe with Chinese and Italian restaurants who play pop music. At least TRY to pretend you're creating a vibe. Someone needs to work on details for this restaurant and it might be worth a return visit. read more

This place would be great if it was consistent. One dish could be amazing and the next incredibly bland. I ordered elote, the corn was not roasted, and was basically a plate of corn in mayonnaise and cilantro. I also had the chimichanga. Not sure what they do to their ground beef, but it's finely ground to an almost powder like texture which I found very off putting. It also had almost zero flavor. My husband had a ground beef taco which while had the same strange beef texture actually had some flavor. His fajitas were also very good. read more

I don't like to be that person that returns food to the kitchen so I sucked it up and ate half of it (this was also at 3pm and I hadn't eaten anything all day). Ended up taking the rest home. I had gotten the Enchiladas Supremas. The tortilla was hard and had a weird flavor. The cheese was barely melted. The meat was not seasoned well. I ended up getting sick for two days after eating here. (If I hadn't gotten sick I would've given them 3 stars.) This place was such a surprise! My husband and I have always passed by and never thought about going in until one day we wanted to try something new. The reviews looked great so we had to give it a chance! SO GLAD WE DID! Margaritas were awesome and didn't taste syrupy at all, which is pretty uncommon to find. We ordered the lime on the rocks. We also ordered their shrimp cocktel and it was extremely flavorful. Definitely my favorite I've had so far in and around Nashville. We then ordered a few of their street tacos and they were so authentic! Loved, loved, loved. We got the chorizo, chicken, and al pastor. All great. Nothing was bad to start. The salsa and chips were average. The fiesta taco salad was average. What I got said it had grilled octopus, shrimp, and fish special sauce and cheese. I did not expect soup. And I have a different idea of grilled. I prefer char grilled to flat top grilled. I t wasn't bad and the manager offered to swap it but any thing grilled wasn't going to be char grilled so I just stuck with it. The margarita was good. We were surprised to find that it's just as good or better than our favorite place, which is El Metate and we have to drive 25 minutes to get there.
