The best tacos we have found since moving to Nashville. So authentic and delicious! And they have posole and menudo on the weekends.

Fantastic! Best food truck in our area. Incredible Mexican. Mulitas are my favorite with line Juaritos to wash it down.

In town to visit family, we hunted for fresh and local on a Saturday night. We were seated…read moresurprisingly quickly - 25 min - even though live music and local vendors out back signaled a long wait. When our server Erica took our drink order and left QR codes for the menu, I quietly looked at my daughter in law and said with a grin, "I hate these. I like to hold a real menu." Although I said it quietly, our server must have caught my look because without a beat, she returned a second later with menus and said winking, "I like a real menu, too." It was subtle and intentional and set the tone for a perfect meal. I told her, "we are reading Will Guidara's Unreasonable Hospitality, and you just modeled it." She told us it's one of hers and her husband's favorite books! Our street corn nachos were delicious as well as great salsa and chips, and each of us was super happy with our taco choices. Highly recommend the brisket, featuring a horseradish cream, and the shrimp as well as the fish tacos. One small note: the flavors in my Brussels sprout taco were fantastic, but the veggies themselves were a bit tough. My tamarind margarita was SPOT ON with a perfectly generous tajin rim and dried lime slice. Food was well-timed even with a packed house. Even when the beans added on by one of our party were way too spicy for her palate, our server offered an alternative without missing a beat. In summary, a hoppin' local spot with great service and delicious food, along with a community feel. 100% recommend!

Nectar Urban Cantina is a great reminder that we don't always need to chase the hot new restaurant…read morein town. We have excellent local spots right here that deserve all of the love! I'm always looking for a place to eat in Donelson before my Wednesday bowling league, and this fit exactly what I was craving. Local, Mexican-inspired food, dedicated parking lot, easy to get in & out quickly. The parking lot was quite popping tonight, and I did have to loop through it a couple of times to find a spot even though it is pretty spacious. A place that's been open since 2017 and is still this busy on a Wednesday is a good sign. This is part coffee shop, part restaurant, so there are two different doors. I inadvertently went through the coffee shop one and they redirected me to the restaurant side, no problem at all. I was able to be seated at a table with no wait. My waitress came right over with water and a menu, and I was clear with her that I had about a half hour before I needed to leave. She quickly took my order, giving me recommendations when I asked for advice and was torn between a couple of different things. The menu is large and reasonably priced with a very wide selection of drinks. This isn't the most authentic Mexican food, but man is it tasty. Lots of fresh ingredients and so much flavor, a real crowd pleaser for dietary restrictions and picky eaters! I was torn between chips and queso and a burrito, so it was to my benefit that the chicken burrito comes with a side of chips and salsa, and paying a small upcharge to swap in queso meant I got all of the things I was craving in one order. Pinto beans, guacamole, chipotle aioli, and rice all packed in and put on the griddle so you get that nice sear. There's an option to add a cheese skirt to the burrito that I skipped this time but would absolutely come back for. The chips were thin and crispy, the queso hot and delicious, and I couldn't have asked for more at the price. The burrito is $11 on its own and with the chicken and my upcharge I came to about $19 with tax, plus tip. When the waitress brought my food she also brought my check and a box so I could take the other half to go and get everything out of the way. In and out in thirty minutes with food that was hot, fresh, and super delicious. The service here really goes the extra mile. Easy for a solo diner, easy for a group, and easy to just walk in for a quick meal. My only small gripe is that they may still be too popular for their parking lot, which should be slightly bigger. They've also got an interesting set of coffee and matcha drinks and a brunch menu I'd love to come back for. This is a hidden gem, and I hope locals keep showing up for the great places we already have instead of only chasing whatever just opened!

I have spent a lot of time all around Mexico. This is the real deal -- it's like eating in a hole…read morein the wall taqueria in Guadalajara. This place is for people who like authentic Mexican low brow food, rather than Tex-Mex or "Gringo" versions of the cuisine. It is also for people who, when they walk in and realize that they are the only non-Mexicans in the joint, view this as a positive sign that "this must be the place" rather than one which engenders self consciousness. I can almost guarantee you will be the only native English speaker in the place (unless I'm there...) As for ambience - there isn't any, which is to say that it's perfect. It's flourescent lights, formica tables and steel chairs with red vinyl. Mexican tv blaring cheesy soap operas or soccer above the counter. Phone cards to call back to Mexico for sale. Just like Guadalara. Now let's talk food. If they don't bring them to you, ask them for some grilled jalapenos. They are fantastic, but be careful. The chips are prepared fresh and the hot sauces in the squeeze containers on the table are home made. The tacos are all-world. "Al Pastor" (spiced pork), "Carne Asada" (grilled steak) and "Camaron" (shrimp) are the best, and come piled high with the filling, cilantro, onion and a lime wedge. At a buck fifty each, they cannot be beat. The tortas are Mexican hot sandwiches. Order the "Carne Desebrada" - pulled beef. It is a meal in itself, with avocado, jalapeno and the most addictively flavored beef you will ever eat. I have friends that swear they are made of heroin. Other standouts include Shrimp Diablo (spicy shrimp), Chile Verde (pork in heavily spiced tomatillo sauce), Burrito al pastor (a burrito with the same filling as the tacos mentioned above), and fajita mixta (fajita with the kitchen sink). There are also lots of other "deeper" Mexican dishes like shrimp cocktail in tomato juice, menudo, various "caldos" and mojarro (a whole fried fish that you pick apart with your fingers). Drinks are Mexican beer, sodas, water, horchata or, if they have it that day, "agua de melon", which is cantaloupe juice that is out of this world. The place is CASH ONLY. Manuel and Ana, the owners, speak decent English. No one else does at all. They will always be there. Finally, back to the ambience/clientelle . I am not going to get into a whole social commentary thing, but if you are the type of person who will get jumpy walking into a dive where the people eating are guys who work landscaping, construction, etc. this is not for you, as this is precisely that place. (I literally hired a guy to do some drywall work for me while having lunch there one day.) But to put your mind at ease, I routinely bring my kids, wife, friends there and we are welcomed like family. No one is going to bite you. You, however, are going to want to bite their food.

Located in a small shopping center, TV is one place to visit if you're looking for a great meal. Chips and salsa came with a very spicy salsa of carrots, onions and other veggies and is not for the light hearted. Wife tried the chili verde con carne, a delicious verse sauce with sliced beef, onions and served with chorizo refried beans and rice. I went with the carne guisada, another delicious ensemble of beef, grilled onions and jalapeños and seasoned perfectly. Fair warning Taqueria is a CASH ONLY restaurant so please be warned. My wife saved us since I never carry cash. Give Taqueria Vallarta a try, you'll enjoy it!
