    Pescado frito
    Halle C.

What a great little restaurant tucked away on Nolensville Road! When my party of 3 walked in, we were greeted by the smell of fresh cooking and a beaming waitress. Our waitress was so patient and kind, helping explain the menu to my grandmother. The food came out within a timely manner. The barbacoa was perfectly tender and flavorful. My tortillas de maíz were so fresh and hot, I almost burnt my fingertips. My grandmother had no problems about her pescado frito, either. It was plentiful portions, the kind where a to-go box is necessary. The leftovers heated up nicely, too. For drinks we all got agua de jamaica. So tangy and not too sweet. It's my favorite agua fresca so this is something that must be nailed for me! I will be back!

We've been going to this restaurant for years and it's been amazing the whole years. They are super friendly and when you have any questions they will know the answer. This day I got a carne asada torta it was so amazing their meat is such a good quality. Also I had a taco, the meat was juicy. My boyfriend always gets a carne asada huarache it's always good. They have different types of drinks but we stick with horchata it's always good no matter what. It's a small restaurant but they always have music playing in the background. When you walk in their super friendly. You can seat anywhere in the restaurant and when you're ready to pay they'll give you the check and you pay in the back of the restaurant. Will forever recommend this hole in the wall restaurant.

I am originally from the Southern California area so full disclosure I am a tougher reviewer on Mexican food then some. Going into Las America's it feels very authentic. The service was quick and super friendly and they can easily pivot between Spanish and English. I ordered a plate with three enchiladas - cheese, chicken and steak. I liked the cheese one the most mainly because it was a different cheese then I am used to and was unique to me. The other two had flavor but the meat wasn't cooked fresh, I could tell it had been in a holding container for a minute. The beans were possibly canned but the rice was decent. With that said I tried a pork and cheese papulsa on the side and it was beyond excellent. Fresh, good portion size and fairly priced. You could easily get full off two. I give it 4 stars only because the service was solid and the pupulsa was amazing. I plan to go back and try other items with a papulsa on the side :)

Burrito ranchero, chorizo taco, and a pork & cheese pupusa

Easy to miss spot, but make sure you don't! Very friendly and cozy little restaurant and store. So many options to choose from on the menu. Decided to go with the burrito ranchero which was good. The pupusas were wonderful, and the chorizo taco had an awesome smokey and spicy taste.

Very busy combination of local grocery/restaurant was a nice change-up from barbecue, Thai, and sandwich/hamburger restaurants. Good variety of Mexican soft drinks and juices, including my favorite, the popular Horchata. Food is fairly traditional and the variety wide. Burritos, soups, beef and seafood. The Menudo was rich and came with the normal accompaniments. The Sunday specials are listed on a board by the open kitchen. Others are listed on the menu and Caldo de Mariscos (Seafood Soup) was listed and I ordered it. A large bowl was delivered, full of seafood with a few carrots and potatoes thrown in for variety. I added a few pinches of the fresh chopped jalapeno and it tasted just right. I enjoyed the people watching and all of the hustle and bustle. Good to see that good ethnic food is available and accessible.

We ate dinner early dinner here with another couple. We all enjoyed it. We had pupusas, tacos and tortas. The service was excellent and I would have paid more for what we ordered. It is small but we were there late afternoon, so only a few tables occupied. A great meal.

This was my first visit based on yelp reviews. First let me start with my sever, she welcome me and my mother in law with a please attitude and smile. She offered Jamaica drink and suggested I try it. I think her service topped the food. The food was good as well. We ordered tacos for a quick bite. Overall, good food good service. Will be back!! Oh yeah - it is in the cut, but don't let it deter you from enjoying its benefits.

Come here for some good authentic food and great hospitality. The waitress was sweet and helpful when we didn't know what to order. I got the American burrito, a pupusa, and my husband ordered rice, chicken, and cheese (not on menu). The portions are huge so come starving.

My parents are visiting America for the very first time -- literally their first time outside China -- and I wanted to take them somewhere that felt truly local, not a chain restaurant or tourist spot. Get Your Grub On was exactly that kind of place. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. You can immediately feel that this is real homemade cooking -- not "corporate restaurant food." Watching him work in the kitchen and smelling the food coming out fresh honestly made the whole place feel like a true American Southern "farmhouse/local comfort food" experience. We ordered the fried chicken, catfish trio, and chicken pasta. The fried chicken was AMAZING: * perfectly crispy outside * juicy inside * smelled incredible the moment it came out But the real surprise was the catfish. It was unbelievably tender -- literally melt-in-your-mouth soft while still fresh and flavorful. Easily some of the best catfish I've ever had. Portion sizes were HUGE too. Three people ate for around $70 and we were completely full. Yes, the seasoning is definitely Southern-style and a bit salty for some Asian tastes, but even my parents -- who are completely Chinese and very familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine -- still genuinely enjoyed the food and kept talking about how good and unique the experience was. That says a lot. This place feels like the kind of hidden local restaurant that makes traveling meaningful. Not fancy. Not trendy. Just real people making real food with heart. Highly recommended if you want authentic local Southern comfort food and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the tofu was browned to perfection. The grilled broccoli and cauliflower were snappy and contrasted well with the rest of the ingredients. The dish had a spicy yet tolerable kick to it, but I have a very high threshold for spice and heat (I added chili oil to take it up a notch!). Also, the portion size is BIG. I was very hungry so I had no issues finishing most of it, but it could easily be shared between two adults, especially if you order an appetizer or side. I loved the interior decor, which was simple yet eye catching. The mural encompassing the entire space in particular looked really cool. I visited with my parents during their last trip to town since the restaurant happened to be nearby. Upon walking in, the decor felt a little confusing. The menu clearly presents the restaurant as a grill, but the interior still seemed heavily influenced by what may have previously been an Asian restaurant space. The renovation didn't feel entirely cohesive, which made the atmosphere a bit disjointed. That said, the staff was very friendly, and we were seated quickly. Throughout the meal, however, there seemed to be an underlying sense of stress among the staff that was noticeable despite their efforts to remain professional and attentive. It created a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere at times. For dinner, we ordered the filet with broccoli and French fries, while another guest ordered a salad. Unfortunately, the salad had to be sent back because it arrived with blue cheese despite a requested omission due to an allergy. Thankfully, the issue was corrected. The filet itself was cooked to the requested temperature, and overall the food was fine, but nothing particularly stood out as memorable. Everything was acceptable, though not especially remarkable. Overall, Firebird Grill may work well for larger groups or families looking for a convenient, casual meal, but with so many standout restaurants in Nashville, it's probably not a place I'd personally revisit.
