One of our favorite places. We were seated right away and our server Adrian came to our table. The place was beautifully lit and decorated. Adrian was so personable and very attentive. My husband ordered the fajita, my mom shredded quesidilla, my dad got Padilla and I ordered the Grilled chicken quesidilla. Everything was perfect. Anything we asked for came out wonderful. I finally tried El Toro for the first time this past weekend. I've seen a lot of their videos online and this looks the a fun place to celebrate a birthday party or any other special occasions. The restaurant was cute with many neon lights with cute photo ops. I went on a Sunday for early dinner so it wasn't very busy and we were seating right away! They give you complimentary chips and salsa, personally not my favorite salsa but I'm very picky. I already knew what I wanted before I arrived so we quickly ordered our entrees and they arrived very quickly at our table. I got the cheesy birria tacos and they were some fattys! I've had many birria tacos and these ones were a bit wet but the tortilla wasn't falling apart so that's great! My mom got a chimichanga with pork and said it was very good! Beware of auto gratuity on carryout orders. I read a review about this so paid attention tonight. I asked for an itemized receipt when signing and the employee said we don't do that. I asked if gratuity was included she said yes, but wouldn't have said a word if I didn't ask. I would have tipped more if not hidden in the first place. This place is already expensive for the quality of food, this just cements not going back. read more

The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived, but they were able to seat us quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. Our waitress was very prompt upon seating and followed up multiple times during our dining experience which we appreciated. My wife ordered nachos supreme, and I ordered the special 3 which consisted of a burrito, beef taco and enchilada. My dish also included beans and rice. My wife and I both enjoyed our food very much and we both felt it was one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to in quite some time. First the price.. 2 steak burritos 55 dollars? Not to mention the 10% charge for takeout. Secondly, I asked for one of the burritos to not have onions or cilantro. The ticket for the kitchen was written correctly, they just messed up the directions. Third, the burritos had more refried beans and rice than anything else. The steak was almost nonexistent! About 2 years ago we went here and it was average at best. Something really changed, new menu, new interior that reminds me of Miami Chic. The overall customer experience has radically changed so don't let their 3 star ratings fool you. We just went back last week for lunch and their new lunch menu is very good and value priced. El Toro is an overall good enough Mexican restaurant located in Cape Coral, Florida. As far as the ambiance goes, it is your usual Mexican restaurant type setup. The service was friendly and professional enough and the food was overall good. I am a huge fan of Mexican food and in my travels for work, I probably eat Mexican food the most. I just find that Mexican food is the most consistent in my travels. The food at El Toro was good. I went with a burrito and definitely enjoyed it. There's a lot of mixed reviews here but I believe you have to take account everyone's personal experiences with this place. I personally had an amazing time with our large group and it was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate a birthday party. Not really family friendly. Food: 10/10 Food was really good & flavorful. My husband and I ordered a beef chimichanga and a beef rice bowl. Both were super delicious and I liked that the rice and beans in separate dishes. The food was beautifully presented to us. Served fresh and hot. Everything was great! Mixed drinks were great too. I got a pina colada served in a fish cup! We absolutely had to do an airplane of shots too! The airplane of shots were so much fun! I wish I got a video of ours!! Service: 8/10 We had a very large party reserved for around 18 people. They mentioned they normally don't take reservations but they would try to accommodate the best they can. The only reason this section has a 8/10 is that they didn't seat our group until everyone got to the restaurant which made it really uncomfortable for everyone standing around in the front area by the bar when they had the table ready to go for us to all go sit while we waited for the rest of the party to get there. I'm assuming it's due to having to fulfill drink orders all at once maybe? Other than that, the hostess, bartenders, and servers were all great and took care of our large group very well. We were checked on a few times and our drinks were never empty! Service was friendly and super fun!! They created an awesome party atmosphere and exactly what we wanted to celebrate our friend's birthday!! Came here for takeout during lunch time. You have to order over the phone as their online ordering system just said "closed" for every menu item. I ordered chicken fajita nachos and then tried to order an enchilada a la carte. They don't do a la carte so I had to order the dinner plate order of enchiladas. I wanted shredded beef and grilled chicken and both of those were upcharges. Then it turns out they do 10% gratuity automatically on takeout orders. 10%? Why? I have never heard of this before. I should have just backed out at this point but I had such a hankering for mexi and my mom, who is local, had vouched for it. The total came out to just over $55. Ouch. I went in and got the food. Interior was nice so maybe sitting down is the move here. When I got back and opened everything up the nachos were deconstructed which I'm sure many would appreciate but for me - no. I had to then build my own nachos. Now the food looked great. I was excited thinking maybe my expenditure was gonna be worth it. Sadly, a couple of bites of both dishes quickly killed that dream. The nachos didn't have enough queso it was like it evaporated. And everything was so flavorless and bland. The enchiladas were more edible but also bland and just completely lacking of any flavor. Both dishes also lacked any sort of cohesion between their respective ingredients... they both felt like plates made up of individual ingredients. Have been coming to El Toro on a regular basis since they opened. I have continued to patronize this establishment even though the prices have increased and the service has been spotty. However, after today's visit they have permanently lost my business. Their prices have increased considerably higher than the even inflation. To add insult to injury, their portions have decreased as prices increased. Service was not good at all. My server seemed bothered when I asked for anything. Like asking for a napkin caused him to roll his eyes. When I asked for an additional salsa (small ramekin) to take home with my leftovers my server rolled his eyes again and charged me. This place always hits the spot! Our favorite is their Brava Jalisco, similar to the ACP you might find in NC and TX. The difference is their rice is perfectly cooked to a soft texture and seasoned to make you not want to stop eating! Service is typically great, but Manny is the best and will get you in and out in 30-40 minutes after sitting down! On the positive side, this may be the best Mexican restaurant in Cape Coral. On the flip side, that's not saying much. It's mediocre Mexican food, at best. I was impressed with neither the food nor the service. The food was "Mexican" in the same sense as Frito Pie is "Mexican." It was bland, plain, and -- if I'm honest -- a little overpriced. The service was slow. We ordered a round of adult beverages and our food came much sooner than the margaritas did. Then, when we ordered a second round, they never came before the check was delivered. This surprised me a little, as the restaurant was not busy at all during our visit. I'm being generous with three stars, as the place was very clean, and the ambiance was nice. So a couple of mercy stars for that. But it's unlikely we'll be back. read more

Terrible! Went here with friends. Our food came out wrong twice. Told them we would eat it since almost everyone was almost done with their meal. They gave us 2 baskets of chips for ten people and then charged us for some more. Charged us another $2 for sharing. And $5 for a soda! Crazy. On top of all that, food was just okay! We usually like this restaurant but had a bad experience tonight we will not be going back. We had somebody taking pics of her table, bent over with her butt 1 inch from our faces, tables are way to close together. Somebody slammed against my wife's chair with there chair. There was a couple birthdays tonight they played super super loud music like it was a nightclub and did not warn anybody about it! My wife has a medical problem we didn't know it was like this, 2 hours later she's home still trying to calm down.
