This place has a long history in Pasadena. I've been coming here since I moved to California in 1996. The staff treats you like family. Gilberto the bartender is always in a welcoming mood. They just know how to treat people. And they do it with excitement and passion. I've been in the service industry most of my working life and I'm still in the industry. In these times of a global pandemic. I was excited to see they take every precaution possible to insure the safety of their staff and guests. I had a great experience here this past Monday night. The host Bria was adorable and actually struck up a conversation with me. And then my server Amber was so attentive and really made me want to come back here. It made me happy because I never get this customer service at other restaurants. Was here this past Wednesday and Ralphie was my server. Decided to come have a girls night and he was just so helpful and made our night so great! He offered us tips on what was best to try for the night, recommended some great drinks and even convinced us to indulge and treat ourselves with a dessert to end the night!! Ralphie was always very attentive and asked if there was anything else he could do for us! Brunch here is always amazing! They have so many options, from hand made tortillas to omelet station to unlimited mimosas! After craving fake Mexican food decided to try El Torito in Pasadena , walked in Easter Sunday expecting to be super busy surprisingly the crowd was moderated , sat at the bar area since we had missed the brunch for the half price apps , booth we shows was dirty , took them 15 minutes to clean it, unlike my past experience with El Torito the server with in a few minutes greets you with chips and salsa , after 15 minutes of waiting we still up to leave to the main dining area , I visually scanned for a booth , however the server said give us 5 minutes to seat you , I'm sure Easter Sunday is busy , however or this place, if you are coming here be prepared to wait . read more

I got the Carne Asada burrito. And some guacamole. The guacamole was good. It didn't have as much spice or cilantro as I'd like but it was still good. The burrito was good. It was huge. Wow! I had such a fun time at this location. I've tried a few different El Toritos and I think this one is my fave. We drove over here on a girls night. I knew it would be busy but we craved the crowd. Besides we all needed a drink for sure. The customer service from Vianka was what probably made my visit so pleasant. She was courteous and took time from the rush to explain the menu a little better to me. She recommended the Cadillac Margarita. Which is now my favorite! I had a few tacos and was so stuffed. This place WAS great but lately we have been having some really bad experiences. We also have seen less people going...they need to check their servers. I went this last weekend with my husband and kids. They always want us to sit in the bar section...maybe cuz we have kids and they are a bit loud. Bar area is not a kid-friendly atmosphere. Well, server Jonathan 121255 was not in such a good mood. He looked bothered in serving us. Food took so long and the place was nearly empty. He got my husbands order wrong and my husband didn't bother to tell him cuz of the attitude he already had. I also ask if they had anything for a birthday, like a slice of cake or something...it was my husband birthday. He said, "I can bring a flan", he didn't even turn to say happy birthday or I would be glad to bring you a flan. Ordered grilled chicken taco salad. Hardly any chicken, lettuce and beans. Very disappointed. Not worth the money. I have ordered this same salad at other El Torito restaurants and salad always has a full cut up chicken breast, plenty of lettuce and beans. Don't know why this particular restaurant skimps on ingredients. Menu doesnt list beans as an ingredient but servers will tell you beans cover bottom of open taco shell. read more
