We are back! I say that because we were going to the Laguna Hills location.. but they closed that down. After some searching.. we found our favorite server from that old location here in Irvine! Come for the fabulous Sunday Brunch but stay for the exceptional service of Yolanda!! She is truly the best! Always professional, always patient and always on the ball! So let me go to the food .. the brunch here is pretty outstanding. We actually liked it better than the Laguna Hills location. The restaurant is spacious and clean. So much to choose from! Carnitas, Huevos Rancheros , different salads, tamales, enchiladas, rice and beans, ready to order omelettes.. and so much more. I loved that the dessert stations were not overwhelming. I loved that they also had a chocolate fountain. The pandulce was fresh and they even had Mexican hot chocolate. One of the best parts of this was that we didn't feel rushed. My friends and I are truly always appreciative of restaurants that do not rush us. We like to take our time and we like to enjoy each other's company. I appreciate that El Torito is somewhere that you can go and just enjoy yourself. I could go on and on about our server, Yolanda .. She really is the best! To the management at this location.. great job! We now have a new place to celebrate birthdays and also just a place to get together. Poooooor and awful services We ask Miguel... the waiter And his manager Esther .. the way they were acting It made me think they were a couple. I don't understand why would Esther come around and ask us how are we doing . When kept on telling herrrrr! We want more salsa. And the salsa wouldn't come. Why?!!! Because Miguel and Esther were just talking by the bar. Now our refills.. We ask Miguel for our refills and he made a point to let us know that it bothered him. Great food, but the service is terrible. We have eaten here many of times. They don't have enough people working there. You have to chase down your waiter for refills, more chips, or just about anything and the worst is to pay your bill, you have to chase them down to just do that. They need to hire more people. Giving this 3 stars because i have been here twice. The first time it was a solid 4-4.5 experience but today was a 1-2 star experience. The restaurant is pretty big and has a huge parking lot! The ambiance is fine with music and the servers are all nice. The food is decent from what I remember, I know we really enjoined the guacamole our first time coming here. We also had a margarita last time that was good! This time though was not so good. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, no biggie, it's a Friday night. We sat down and got chips and salsa very quickly. The original salsa was really good, tasted fresh. We put our order in. After about 20 minutes we asked where the food was and were told it was coming right out. 30 more minutes passed and still no food. We did get a second round of salsa but this time the salsa was different and tasted like tomato taste out of a can. Eventually i walked up front to ask what was going on and found out that our entire section had been waiting 45-75 minutes for their food. Talked to a manager and it turns out the kitchen was behind due to a 12 person party. The manager told us that our food had not even been started. Since we only had water, we decided to leave left and canceled our order. Hopefully this was just a one-off night. If we had been talked to by a manager sooner I think we would have been more understanding but no one told us anything and instead just kept saying the food would be right out. read more

This review is not to negatively undermine the incredibly hardworking servers and cooks who delivered our group an amazing dinner experience. This review however is to warn others of the manager Estelle and the general manager who were rude and put blame on our group for a mistake they made in which they repeatedly changed their story and continually lied to us. We had reservations to celebrate our lovely coworkers birthday. We had a bakery deliver two cakes amounting to $200 to el torito, we have receipts and confirmation of said delivery. As we finished our dinner we of course asked if they could bring the cakes out. Somehow they were nowhere to be found. After speaking to every employee we then spoke to this locations manager Estelle. She proceeded to blame our group for their inability to find it and we were told various excuses without any intention to mediate the problem. 1. "We trashed the cakes" 2. "We served the cakes to another group with the same name" 3. "We never received cakes" 4. "We don't have cameras to check what happened to the cakes" 5. "I'm the manager and I don't have access to the camera footage" (This was a lie as we discovered when an employee confided in us to tell us their manager was lying). The story changed countless other times as well. As you can imagine this was not only frustrating but it put a damper on our night that was supposed to be a celebratory birthday dinner. They offered no solution until they saw we were visibly upset (over an hour if not longer) in which they then brought out dessert in order to "make up" for whatever it is they did with the cakes. To rub salt in the wound they forced the employees sing to us. Please refer to the pictures of the undercooked cake and flans they threw together. We were practically begging for them to fix this and trying to work with the manager Estelle, she however kept shrugging, saying it's our and the bakery's fault and when confronted about how she was placing blame on us she went silent. She never apologized and she told us there was nothing they could do. I would never step place in this establishment after the way we were treated. We all work in retail and we know how important customer service is and how important it is to listen and provide solutions with customers so this was truly saddening. read more

We came to celebrate a birthday and were having a great time--until our $200 cake went missing. The manager, Stella, handled the situation in an incredibly unprofessional manner, giving us three different and conflicting explanations: 1 They threw it away because they couldn't find the owner. 2 They tried to contact the bakery, but the bakery wouldn't provide the owner's information. 3 They gave it to another person with the same name. Not only did Stella fail to offer any apology or solution, but she also insisted there was nothing she could do. When we asked to check security cameras to see what happened to the cake, she first claimed there were none (in a place that serves alcohol), then changed her story, saying only corporate had access. To make matters worse, she initially lied about her name, telling us it was Stephanie--only for the servers to confirm it was actually Stella. She was on the phone with the general manager, who refused to speak with us and dismissed the situation entirely. This experience completely ruined our night. The lack of accountability and professionalism was unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone expecting even basic customer service. read more

Terrible, went for Sunday morning brunch rudely asked if I had a reservation as i walked into the restaurant, I have never had to make a reservation at any other el torrito for brunch and when I was finally seated she told us to wait for our server we waited 10 mins with out being attended too before leaving. Finally we asked for food to be packed for to go and it took another 20 min. We left the place and found out that half the food was missing . Not cutlery , no napkins. Also one order was also missing. Terrible experience . Stay away from this place!!! Not surprising almost all their franchises are closed . Never felt insulted and cheated.
