This family restaurant/gem was quite busy for a Friday evening. I really liked the decor, felt original. I noticed they have 4 locations and have been in business for over 22 years. We were greeted and seated immediately and all of the staff we interacted with were very friendly. We were given fresh salsa, corn chips and water right away. It seems most plates come with either a decent sized salad which I had, it was topped with fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes and lots of shredded cheese or you can choose the albóndiga (meatball) soup. The food portions are huge and the food was very good. I had one of their 3 item combo plates and had lots of food leftover. They have a small bar and offer Sunday brunch too. This place used to be fire!! I loved this place in the past. But in a recent visit we had a very negative experience. Where a cockroach was present (literally on the chair) and my friend reached over cool and calm and told me not to loose my sh** Then we left and I ended up with food poisoning. Our meal was NOT refunded, due to not having a "doctors note" Well to whomever decided to not honor a refund you should be happy I am a single mom who has a disabled child and doesn't have the ability to just go to the doctor, because that bill would have been higher than your $60 check. Portions are HUGE. 2 or ever even 3 adults may be able to share one plate here. This place is dark, not much light in here so the menu was kind of hard to read. they offer free chips and salsa and my favorite was the spicier salsa. Regular salsa was pretty bland. I had beef enchiladas and came with rice and beans. Service was very slow. I think we were there for 2 hours and it wasn't busy at all. First time we visited this place my friend and I, but we had a surprise in this place, when we entered we stopped at the door to wait for them to sit us at the table, but it was not like that, there were two employees at the entrance and they didn't even greet us, they ignored us, we lasted about 4 minutes waiting, until we asked them if we could sit down and they took us to the table, I do not recommend this place very bad service, there were other customers who were complaining about the food, very bad service. read more

Not a horrible place but maybe 3 stars. The staff wearing uniforms was a good look for restaurant. The decorations were extremely dated but staff took time to make fancy napkins for placement. I think the queso was just shredded cheese they melted I honestly recommend they look up how to make queso because they failed badly. The soda was either hot because their soda fountain isn't refrigerated the water or they didn't put enough ice because the drink didn't have enough ice. The food was not bad but chicken was not well seasoned bland they didn't cook with peppers and onions. The quesadilla shell was flaky. Would have been better with some liquid queso poured over. They don't make good guacamole it just has a strange taste. If they read this buy white American cheese get some milk and melt it down save it with or without jalapeños. This is really a gem in Quartz Hill. The ambiance/decor isn't exactly 5-star, but the food has been reliably delicious for 20+ years--so very deserving of 5-star for their ongoing excellent quality. Their servers are always excellent, efficient & pleasant. Even though they've raised their prices (I'm sure out of necessity due to crazy rising costs), they're still very reasonably priced. Highly recommend their incredible meat & cheese-filled tacos, enchiladas & burritos. We used to come here years ago, until they were closed down because of roaches. My husband was grossed out. I had to talk him into giving it another try. So, we came back after 6 years. The food was good. The portions were appropriate to what we've always gotten at this place. The bus boy gentlemen is always on spot and a delight. Kudos to him... but the waiter was a bit lacking. He only had 4 tables and yet he spent most of his time in the kitchen with the staff. We could hear him laughing and talking. We didn't ask for a lot, but he denied us of the most simple things. He wouldn't even bring us our check. We waited a half hour. We finally went to the front to pay. I have been going to this location for the last 25 years and it has always been a favorite of mine. I will admit it has been hit and miss at times but mostly good over the years. I love their food and I like the atmosphere and ambiance. For the most part the service is always good as well, it was rough when they were short staffed but that is to be expected I think. I was just there this last month, June of 24 and the meal I had was one of the best meals I have ever had there, the carnitas enchiladas, #32 I think, it was GREAT and so was the service and we had a group of 6. I have always been a fan of their carnitas dinner and the chili colorado, 2 of my very favorites and I think these guys do these dishes better than anywhere else I can remember. I love their house made salsa, I think it's also the best in town. This place has always been one of my very favorites in town and they are definitely worth a shot if you have never been there. I am only doing 4 stars as I am a firm believer that there is always room for improvement. read more

So it all started when I went over there to Del taco to get me a couple tacos... And disappointed with the quality of the beef, I walked across the parking lot into this cute little place called El Toreo. I wanted to compare the tacos so I ordered the regular Carne Asada taco...... To my surprise this one taco was like three times as big as the one I just ate at Dell taco... Not to mention the quality of marinated beef is 100% better... You definitely get what you pay for... I am a satisfied customer!!!! I used to go here for Sunday brunch on occasion but haven't been in a while. Decided to stop in for dinner and of course it was delicious. Shared the #14 with the man, we got soup and salad with the meal because I like to know who has the best albondigas. It was good (fyi). I am looking forward to returning soon. Went to try this place since I heard about the buffet I called an asked from what time to what time and they said 4-9 p.m. it's a midweek buffet an I work in LA get home around 7:30-7:45 pm so rushed right over got there about 8 so figure good we have 1 hr the buffet was a little weird they had good fruit, some salad some soup and some chaffers with items they serve you.. the price is $18.95 sodas are $4.25 but you get refills, also you get chips the food tasted pretty good some items were a little salty. Reason for not more stars is they started to remove food at 8:30. But didn't let us know before we decided on the buffet that's why I called they should have said something on the phone. After waiting and being seated to a "just cleaned" booth, we get sat at a booth that had water, soda, beans, rice, and chip chunks everywhere with a server's tray (not plate, black server tray), holding food scraps sitting in the booth, with new placemats and settings laid down on messy table. Someone "cleaned" by putting new place mats and napkin/setting on top of this mess, no wiping of any kind, and felt fine with that level of work and walked away satisfied with that? And it wasn't like we saw it and immediate said something, we sat for 5 mins thinking maybe whoever was "cleaning" it must have gotten pulled away for a second and would come back to finish, but no, that was it, it was done and "clean" in their mind, apparently. And the way it had placemats ready to eat tells me that whoever is cleaning does that regularly, not a one time thing... So they have workers not cleaning the tables between parties, just slapping a new placemat down over the food/soda of the previous. Now, i understand that things happen, we all can get distracted or make a mistake/be having an off day, trying to be understanding, but when I point it out, the young and maybe inexperienced staff got offended and reacted rudely, not professionally. While politely and calmly discussing with the hostess how it isnt usually like this, the restaraunt is usually much cleaner, (by used to, i mean as recent as last summer), the unprofessional hostess got super huffy and defensive, repeatedly cutting me off saying "fine then, have a good day, fine, good day", could care less about my concern, interrupting and dismissing me with a very 'we don't care or need your business here' attitude, and like, seemingly personally offended somehow over the issue. While on way out the door, I stopped to mention I've been eating here for 20 years, and I hope it can get better to how it used to be just even a half a year ago even, but before i could get half the sentence out the rude hostess just cut me off again to say "I said GOOD DAY!", I couldn't believe the immaturity. Used to eat here like 1-2x a month before covid times, some times were better than others, but was always generally treated with a modicum of decency. Ive lived here over 20+ years, have eaten here a lot in that time, so i've seen it slowly go downhill, but now it seems to be at a new low. It's changed over the years, sure, what place hasn't, but when people are straight up rude and DGAF about the job/paying customers, many that have eaten there longer than the new staff has probably even been alive, it's offensive and makes the loyal repeat business history go right out the window. The quality of the cleanliness of the front and the integrity and response from the workers, who used to all be family, i dont know if they are any more, if this is their way of doing things in the front and management condones it, i can only imagine the quality of what isn't seen by customers, like in the kitchen. Was treated very poorly since minute walked in. Very low integrity low energy staff that appears to just be 'going through the motions' and seem very glum and unhappy to be there. Went back in 3 minutes later to get a photo of the dirty table/booth, but it had already been removed, but when I went in the dumb high school hostess was actually talking smack about me and my party with an old man patron sitting there. I can't believe how low this place has gone for being what used to be the local family nice Mexican place. Used to be. Also, it was like 100' out that day, and they actually weren't running any AC or had any lights on?! Was like sitting in dark in a hot musky sweat lodge, very unpleasant and stinky smelling. Finally found an amazing Mexican restaurant in Lancaster after many failed attempts. Went in tonight and everyone acted like they hated their jobs, $15 margaritas were weak, couldn't get a burrito with half chicken and half beef like my husband and I love to share there because they don't make them as of a week ago because 'new management' (yet a beef or chicken are the same price' )waited 20 minutes for more hot sauce and the bartender Jose had empty and used glasses all over the bar.
