Having vacationed in numerous places in the Baja over the last 6 years the El Tiburon Casitas are the most comfortable and inviting that I've had the privilege to stay in. Liz, our hostess outdid herself with making us comfortable and ensuring we had everything we needed to make our stay memorable. She gave us a tour of Loreto so we could get a feel of where things were. Showing us the best restaurants and the most awesome homemade ice cream parlor. Liz arranged for a boat tour for us and let us know all the local happenings around the area. The Casita was equipped with everything you could imagine in a kitchen. I could have baked cookies if I was thus inclined, and the staff came in and cleaned every day. It was lovely having our morning coffee outside in the courtyard and with a heated pool you could swim at any time of the day. With a well stocked library and movies if you just wanted to stay at the casitas and relax you need not look anywhere else. Close by the town square and the marina, everything was within walking distance. We have already booked a 2 week stay next year we were so impressed with the service and room. Had the most fabulous time at El Tiburon Casitas! The service and staff are great, casitas are beautiful and spotlessly clean. The common patio area and swimming pool are perfect to hang around and meet other guests. The owner, Liz, arranged multiple days of whale watching for us with multiple different boat captains, taxi drivers, etc which made our trip effortless and super fun. El Tiburon Casitas are the nicest and best located Casitas in Loreto! The studio type rooms are completely equipped and kept spotless by daily maid service. Pool is small but lovely. You get what you pay for and this is true here, not the cheapest but worth it. This was my second visit and new this year compared to last year's visit is high speed internet, all new comfy beds, fresh paint and some new artwork inside. Also my room had a new larger refrigerator and a new AC/Heater which was whisper quiet and super cold. The new murals around the courtyard and pool are beautiful and add to the colorful plants and palm trees between each casita. Booking a casita is a little harder than some hotels as you have to contact the hotel via email - they do not use any of the booking services such as Trip adviser or Booking.com. Unfortunately this means you cannot tell when rooms are available on the internet. But the calendar is on their official Casita website so just Google El Tiburon Casitas and the availability calendar is right there. Highly recommend these casitas for singles or couples looking for upscale lodging Loreto, in fact I am already booking for whale season with friends next year before they fill up! read more

Location, location, location. We've stayed here a couple times now. Mexico is a great place to hang out and relax, and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. And this privately owned little paradise in the perfect location of Loreto, BCS is the right place to do it. What did we like: - Never need a car. Walking distance to everything in town. From the coffee shops, museums, beach, and the fantastic restaurants everywhere that you can get a $2 taco and a $1 beer (USD). - Rooms. The rooms are like a studio apartment. All decked out with tv, fridge, bottle water, and you can actually live here and cook for yourself if you want...but who would do that with $2 tacos everywhere! - Clean. This is a very clean place. Impeccable. - Pool. A private pool to hang at and just read and relax. - Safe. Mexico is save...much safer than pretty much every city in the USA. But, to add to this, the whole area of El Tiburon Casitas is fenced, has surveillance cameras, watch dogs, and and is secure. - Liz. I absolutely loved my experience at El Tiburon Casitas. Liz went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Liz made sure to have everything perfectly set up for our arrival and while we were there. The location is the best you could ask for and within walking distance to everything you want to do. We stayed at the Casitas at the end of a trip to the Loreto area. This is a boutique hotel with a well informed and involved owner (Liz) on the premises. The individual casitas are well appointed, private and have everything you need. The attention to detail and service of the staff was beyond expectation. We spend a week in January 2018 and had heard a lot of good things about the place. We were not disappointed, very friendly host and staff, beautifully decorated and equipped rooms. This hotel is located in the heart of town, rather than being isolated somewhere in a resort where you see little about the culture and the place you are visiting, here you can experience and appreciate a different place. Everything is in walking distance, beach, harbor, town center and one can get close and personal. Loreto is a very safe small town and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. BTW the host is very knowledgeable about Loreto and surroundings and knows the best excursions and trips she pointed us to all the best places. read more

This is the place you hope you find on vacation in Mexico. I have stayed here twice for a total of 10 days. Very cool Casitas. Clean with Beds, kitchen and a table for two to eat at. Small, well maintained pool with shaded table. But what sets El Tiburon apart is the service. Liz, the owner is the best. Wonderful stay! Loreto is a lovely town, being quite authentic. It was great having our own casita, large with a kitchen area, sitting space, comfortable beds, large beautiful bathroom. It was exceptionally clean and private. Decorations were perfect. I can tell that Liz put time into all the details of the place. I appreciated getting to take a dip in the pool and the close walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Liz is a great host, especially when you need to know about the activities and water sports. Snorkeling there is amazing. It was paradise. We will be back. read more

Despite the generally positive reviews of this hotel, our recent 6-day stay at the Casitas in Dec. 2018 was unfortunately quite different. Several red flags were raised even before arrival. First, full non-refundable payment was required months in advance--most other hotels on the peninsula require only a one or two-night deposit or credit card on file. Second, when I asked ahead of our stay if my brother and his family could meet us at the Casitas, the initial response was that the "private gated property is for guests only" and the owner would have to be there to let anybody in past the dog. Not exactly the friendly welcome we have become used to living in Mexico. Things did not improve upon our arrival. Readers should note--this is not a hotel. This is a private gated compound tucked behind the owner's personal residence. A snarling guard dog greeted us almost every time we came into the Casitas. On Christmas Eve, we invited my brother, his wife, and two little girls over for a pancake breakfast. Big mistake! When the owner saw us with guard dog in tow, she told us that her dog knew who who was allowed on property and who was not. Definitely not the Christmas spirit Liz! She also pointed out that her dog was not child friendly and that only children twelve and above are allowed on premises (sure don't see this on the website). There is simply no other way to describe the owner's attitude than nasty. And I sure don't think this was the best way to sell the place to future potential visitors! Our expectations as guests at any hotel is that the owner will make every effort to meet reasonable guest requests. We did read ahead of time the no guest policy and I sent the owner an email ahead of time asking about this and was assured that my brother and his family could "all come in and see [us]." We only saw one other elderly couple during our entire stay and were always careful to be respectful of others and the environment. We very much wish that we would have stayed at the Hotel La Mision Loreto on the waterfront--or at least given it a try. We have learned an unfortunate lesson that we should not stay at any small privately run places, for fear of a repeat experience. I encourage readers to read the fine print and would definitely not recommend this hotel for families with children. read more
