The restaurant here has excellent food. Lots of fish dishes but also some meat for steak lovers. Los Olivia's fish dish was excellent. The service was terrific, very attentive. The ambiance cannot be beat because it's right by the water, the Sea of Cortez. I recommend it as a wonderful place to eat here in Loreto, Mexico. read more

Tough experience with the Mision Hotel in Loreto. We arrived in Loreto and had not booked a hotel for the night. My buddy and I found La Mision online and had a taxi drop us from the airport. We were immediately greeted and shown a price a bit higher than what was listed online. When I showed the online price, the gentleman said I'd have to book it online for that price. I asked if that would be ok, and he said absolutely. So, I booked my room for $163 and was surprised to see I was charged $268. $105 in online booking fees that (when I went back and looked) were listed in the SMALLEST PRINT I have ever seen. I asked the gentleman what was up with the fees and he smirked and said there is nothing he could do. The price at the front desk was about $225 with taxes and fees (which is what my buddy paid). They would not cancel the online booking and allow me to rebook. I asked If I could speak w a manager but was told they didn't have one in property. Really? Oh well, getting scammed for $40 in mexico is nothing new. Just would not expect it from a high end hotel. I was told I'd have a Mountain View room with a king bed. I got to the room and it was two double beds overlooking a VERY loud pool (hotel has only 6 floors and anyone on that side will have the noise). My buddy was also told he'd have a Mountain View room with king bed. His room was also 2 doubles overlooking the pool. Since they ripped me off for $40, the least they could do is honor a king bed. I went back to the lobby to the smirking knucklehead, and after a few minutes, was provided a key to another room. Upon entry, the room seemed nice. It was large and clean. It had been a long day and I wanted a nice hot shower. After letting the water run for a couple minutes and playing w the stupid dial, I ended up w an ice cold shower. Even after 5 minutes in, nothing warmed up. Miserable. In addition, there is no Mountain View. The backside of the hotel is a neighborhood with loud music that played well into the night (no peace through the windows). There was ZERO view. Your options are loud pool or loud "alley". I imagine the locals were not happy with this hotel being built in this location and decided to annoy every guest they could by leaving loud music on. We spoke with guests that said they were overcharged in the dining room the prior night, and I also saw Google reviews on the same issue. So, we went elsewhere for dinner. There is no fridge in the room for food leftovers or to bring your own beverage. There was no ice machine that I could find. This is far from a High end hotel. From the website, it looks like the hotel is in a great location. I'd suggest a good location, but not great. We walked past (and went into the lobbies) of several NICE hotels on the Promenade that we would have preferred. Look around before booking here. read more

This may not be the best place in Loreto if you aren't a sound sleeper. It is a lovely hotel, and we had a beautiful room facing the sea; however, it also is subject to significant traffic noise. In the evenings particularly, a lot of people are driving up & down the road by the sea with their windows down and music blasting. It calms down later at night, but it can be pretty bothersome sometimes. The rooms are clean, the pool area is nice, and the staff are mostly accommodating. There was a woman at the front desk sometimes who was not very friendly, which we found highly unusual for Loreto overall. My last comment has to do with their reservation system. We reserved through their site, opting for a package with a day trip to Coronado Island. This package is still listed on their website today. Clicking the Start Planning link on it takes you to the reservations calendar. Unbeknownst to us, that special package was only for 2021 and did not apply to our reservation. We found this out after the fact from a very rude reservations agent called Filiberto Alcudia. To my knowledge, this is the most expensive hotel in Loreto proper (to my knowledge), and the details make the experience. Had the issue with the package been more nicely explained and or handled, I might not have written about it at all. Hospitality industries are meant to be hospitable and do everything possible to make guests comfortable. They are not meant to tell guests they are wrong and respond to them in ALL CAPS indicating disagreement. Filiberto clearly needs some additional training. Lastly, for such an important property to the local economy, one would think something could be done about the noise. read more

We are so happy to be able to have spent some time again at one of our favorite places. My wife and I have been going to Loreto for the last 5 years, and stay at La Mission each time, the service is excellent. The rooms are well maintained and we try to stay on either 3rd floor or 4th floor Suite with Ocean Views. Well worth the small price increase. The manager Filiberto and his staff are quite accommodating for any needs or questions you may have. The nightly cruising on the malecon is one of our favorite things to watch from the balcony. read more

I really wanted to give this place a great review, however things didn't quite work out. Sharing my experience, we booked our stay and included the round trip airport transportation service. We arrived at the airport, after 15 minutes of waiting with no transportation personnel I called the hotel. I waited on the phone for 15 minutes, I provided the reservation name and the receptionist states there is no reservation with this name. After providing the confirmation number the reservation magically appeared. The solution to the transportation issue was get a taxi to the hotel and we will not charge you this service. Fine we got a taxi and arrived to the hotel, the staff apologized and check us in stating they upgraded our room at no charge. I thought this would make my experience better. During my stay i asked for late check out, they never had a clear answer and continued advising me to ask at a different time. Finally they said they could only accommodate 1 extra hour, otherwise it would be a $65 charge. Ive never had an issue with a 2 hr late check out in any other hotel in mexico even in the most prestige properties. Fast forward to check out date, staff was wanting to charge the transportation fee, we explained and showed him the amount we should pay for without transportation fee. He stated he fixed it and was still lowkey trying to charge half of that service. Manager was called and was also trying to over charge, at the end they proceeded to charge the correct amount but both the staff and manager were showing they were upset and the tone of voice and gestures changed towards us. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years and they definitely need to get their act together. Quite honestly they gave me a vibe they do this very often, so becareful and double check how much you are being charged. The 3 stars are for the hotel itself, it is beautiful with a nice view. Los olivos restaurant the service was amazing and also the pool and pool bar employees were great. Front desk staff and manager need to level up to the rest of the staff. read more

I am here in the hotel since Thursday, January 11, 2024 and I just discovered there's been some type of theft or breaking into my room that appears to be without my authority or leaving assigned to clean my room with the Nextdoor room, 221. My bosses tablet has been missing and we are being told that it is being investigating and research. In the meantime, there has been no follow up no update and no courtesy call so we are now being very disappointed and frustrated and will get the police involved here being an American Mexican. I have never experienced anything like this, please do your research before you consider coming here and look at other locations because it is not what is made out to be. read more

They refunded me for one of the dogs because I have a service dog and a small dog Chihuahua and they did refund for one dog. The service dog. La Mision Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff. The rooms are a tad sparse from an American perspective but the furniture they do provide is gorgeous and luxurious. There is no heat, but they will bring you a space heater if you need one (I stayed in March and was only chilly one evening). Bring slippers, because the floors are tile. What the rooms may "lack" in amenities, the hotel more than makes up for in professional, courteous, prompt, friendly service. (And most of the staff speak at least a little English; the front desk staff is fluent.) The food at Los Olivos was better than I had in most of the other restaurants I tried (try the tortilla soup!). This hotel is beautiful and clean, and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. And the hotel can't take credit for this, but the sunrises are outrageous. read more

We are frequent guests of this hotel. When we booked, we requested 2 suites for 4 family members that were adjoining or close. At registration, Filiberto told us that other guests had extended their stay so we were booked into rooms at opposite ends of the hotel, which was very inconvenient for us. We were told that the situation would be resolved the next day and to check with Filiberto again. The next day Filiberto had disappeared but left instructions for one room to be changed to a different floor! We asked why our request was being ignored and told to go to the office to complain. Not ok. And also, the hotel was not busy at all. Customer service at this hotel is excellent in every other area. The hotel is clean, safe and well-maintained. The food in the restaurant is very good. But Filiberto at reception is a disappointment. In hindsight, we realized he might have been looking for a tip. Never. read more

Filiberto went above and beyond to rectify an issue we had with Expedia. La Mision did not have our reservation from Expedia upon our arrival no fault of the hotel. Expedia farmed out our reservation to a third-party in the UK and they failed to set up the reservation. Filiberto was able to give us the room we requested and spent several days trying to get the situation figured out. On the second day of our stay he was able to resolve the issue with Expedia at no additional expense to us. The customer service at La Mision is excellent. read more

Restaurant had stunning views for breakfast, although expensive. Hot tub wasn't actually hot - but I believe it was a temporary problem. Also, there was a sign saying the pool and hot tub don't open until 10am. Total shame. Would be gorgeous at sunrise. Air conditioning didn't seem to work. Very loud - bring ear plugs. Street noise and early am music from the restaurant. Alarm clock went off at 4 am and then again at 5:15. Should be checked by housekeeping. read more

I go to Loreto every month for work related and every time my first place to go to eat is at the pizzeria they have down in the pool. This was my first stop in Loreto for some Starbucks coffee! We did end up going back on a Thursday night for all you can eat wood-fired pizza (yes, you read that right!) and a very good live band. The pizzas were absolutely FANTASTIC! The servers kept circulating all the various pizzas they were making so they were always hot and fresh...no buffet warmers! We had pepperoni, mushroom (well, I did NOT have mushroom, but my friends did!), ham and pineapple, etc. They even provided us with blankets since it was a bit chilly and we were not near a heater (this was at the outside bar). I stayed here after a 7 day kayaking trip and was in heaven! The gentlemen at check in were polite and very helpful. The room was huge and clean, with soft white sheets on the king bed, cool tile floors, quiet ac, and a balcony overlooking the pool (which, by the way, also had a great view of the water). The bathroom was also very large, modern and had enough outlets. The hotel has an elevator, pool and a spa on site, so I took advantage and had a facial and a massage and a pedicure. The facial and massage were very good, the pedicure was horrible (2 star) but I'm not going to fault the entire hotel for that. Also, there was great wifi in the room and in the common areas. The reason the hotel gets 4 stars and not 5 is that the area around the pool is a little crowded and noisy. read more

We are very pleased by the hotel accommodations. The hotel is in very good shape, rooms are spacious and clean, and beds are comfortable. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The food is very good. They have a breakfast buffet for about 10dlls per person with chilaquiles, pancakes, eggs made to order, etc. My only wish is that the pool would be heated. We are staying here in March, the weather is great but the water temperature is cold (both sea of Cortez and pool!). read more

We came down for a long weekend, and this hotel was recommended to us by our very well traveled and discerning aunt. Was not disappointed, the hotel was very nice and the staff were all very friendly, spoke English fluently. Temp here in August and September is very hot with high humidity, so this is their low season for tourists but there was a big fishing tournament so the hotel was full. The room was comfortable and clean, beds were top notch and air conditioning worked fantastic. Pool was nice but not "cool" I guess due to ambient whether, probably would have had to refrigerate the water to cool it! Pool lounges had big comfy pads on them and there were always towels available. Pool bar service was a. It slow and you have to drink fast to keep drinks from warming up, maybe bartender was working solo and should have had 2 guys...while here we rented a car from fox and it was a super deal- we got a very gulf for $45 dolls for basically a day and a half, rented in town and dropped at airport on way out of town saving the $20 taxi fare. Great deal! Anyway this is a review of hotel but I will go a little sideways and tell you we enjoyed drive to Misions Sta Javier and a walkabout the mission and little village that surrounds. Also Vista al Mar beachside open air restaraunt was really good for lunch! Would add that the barista t hotel needs more training, didn't know how to make cafe mocha or vanilla latte but we certainly sirvived this minor issue. read more

Nice hotel on the sea of Cortez with a great pool and decent food. We've been coming here for years and the service has slipped over the last couple trips. The front desk manager who arrived on seen 2015-ish is rude and condescending for whatever reason. Hopefully they have him replaced sooner than later with a manager that is much more customer service oriented. This place is amazing, such a treat to stay here. It's right on the malecon so the views are incredible. Fully equipped with a small hotel store, coffee shop, pool side bar, and restaurant. The rooms are spacious and have patios, the pool is large and includes a hot tub and plenty of lounging space, food and drinks are surprisingly affordable. Staff is very friendly and professional and speak both Spanish and English. Great place to either hang out by the pool or use as a launching spot to explore Loreto! read more

Great place to stay in the historic part of Loreto. No beach, but right on the malecon and a short walk to the central plaza. Large modern rooms and decent breakfast selections (not included). Only real downside is that interior hall doors can be loud if one is near you room. read more
