1st time there. Had a wonderful time. Food was delicious, seasoned perfectly, fresh, and hot! The service was Great. Our waitress An'drea was very pleasant. The atmosphere was good, was a little busy in there but they had plenty of help. Looking around the restaurant, the other customers appeared to be enjoying themselves as well. The manager gave me a small sample of the Lime Margarita which was the special of the night. They had some good music playing including the Macarena! The food is pretty solid. Huge portions for lunch, moderate sizes for dinner. It is a very authentic place. The drink specials are on point! They have Mariachi on Fridays. Servers are decent- service is typically pretty fast. I've never really had a wait there. My favs are the enchiladas (not jalisco), quesadillas, fajitas and any of the camarones (shrimp). Parking can get messy depending on the time of day you go. And they typically always have coupons in the local mailer. read more

This place makes me feel like I rather have Taco Bell. The guacamole wasn't fresh at all. They couldn't make a margarita on the rocks. My boyfriend ordered a burrito and they brought him out nachos. Awesome food and great portions. Why on earth did I order a tortilla soup, which was hot, rich , delicious and very filling just by itself. We three ppl ordered pineapple fajita with shrimp and chicken, some sort of grilled fish and a triple-sauce enchilada. Everything was great but the enchilada was especially impressive. The sauces were magical. Fast service and very nice staff. My favorite Mexican semi-fancy dining place in the Newark area so far. Parking was not a problem at all. read more

I only give them 2 stars since I did not have any food and other people seem to like the food. I judge Mexican restaurants by the quality of their house lime margarita. And the one I had here was not good. It was neon green in color (the first sign that something is wrong) and had an artificial lime flavor which hid the taste of whatever tequila they used. And it was over $7. They should try using another brand of artificial margarita mix. And it makes me sad when I go into what looks like a good Mexican restaurant that isn't a chain and they have a bad margarita. The servers seemed to be friendly and the décor was interesting and colorful with the hand painted chairs. There were people eating here so I guess people like the food. Maybe I will come back for some food and skip the margarita. read more

Best Mexican in town... And one of the best I've ever had anywhere! Everything tastes delicious- very fresh and homemade. For the most part, all their dishes are served with a side of refried beans and rice. I love their rice - yellow rice with veggies in it. They give you complimentary chips and salsa to start. The chips are always hot and fresh and the salsa is so tasty with cilantro. Their enchiladas are my favorite because I'm partial to their corn tortillas - taste homemade! They have vegetarian and gluten-free options, along with a kid's menu. On Friday nights they have a live mariachi band and they're fantastic- Great singers/performers, always a lot of fun, my 1.5 year old loves it and they let him "play" their guitar. The restaurant is festively decorated- very colorful with Mexican paintings on every inch of the wall. The place can fill up, but we've never had a wait. The service is always good- friendly and accommodating and never too long of a wait to receive your order. Very reasonably priced. One of our favorite restaurants in town! This places food is good but no better than other Mexican restaruants in the surounding area. But they treat their customers like crap. We (party of three waiting to meet two other couples) with a groupon that paid $15.00 for. Told they no longer comply with groupon and therefore will not honor it. But had no problem keeping our $15.00. We were the only people in the place and walked out. Will never return and all went to La Tolteca. Food there was excellent, same menu, same price, was not even charged extra for extra fajita shells or sour cream like at El Tapatio, in Eden Square Bear, De.And Best of all treated like nicely and like a valued customer. read more

We've been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. If you want a true Mexican experience, visit on a Friday evening after 6:00pm. They have a live mariachi band playing for your enjoyment at this time. The food is well prepared and very tasty. The waitstaff is very attentive. My favorite appetizer here is the Nacho Fiesta. The portion sizes are pretty big and priced really reasonable. The drinks are also priced very reasonable considering their size. The only thing that I would change, if I could, is have the mariachi band play on more nights. Other than that, this place is a great place for a mexican dining experience. Stopped by on this Sunday night for chicken tacos and a beer. Before I could get halfway thru my beer and was not quite finished with dinner I was given the check. Not offering desert or asked if I wanted anything else I felt rushed so since they had something else to do rather than wait on me I left. Other couples before me were offered desert, to go boxes and drinks. I can only think because I was by myself that they thought I was a dine and dash risk, really at 60 I don't dash to quickly. Too many other choices in the bear area for food so I won't be going back anytime soon.... read more

We love coming here. The place is colorful, cheerful and consistent in quality and service. Some of the menu items are a little pricey but they don't skimp on the food. When they deliver your plate...which is always piping hot, it's full of food! Plan to leave with leftovers! The chicken and beef chimachangas are really good as are the fish tacos! My wife and I stumbled onto this great restaurant. It has been around for 15 years! The margaritas are great, especially the mango margarita. I had a great dish called Molcajete Tapatio. Delicious! Authentic food that is scrumptious and really pleasant waitstaff. The decor is busy, but colorful and fun. Mixed drinks are just okay, but with food so good it isn't that big of a deal. We live just around the corner from this restaurant and have been going here for years. The menu selection is excellent and the food is some of the best that we have had outside of Texas. Prices are better than reasonable and quality is always good. Portion sizes mean that you should plan on having leftovers for lunch the next day. Service has always been excellent, prompt, pleasant and appropriately attentive. We enjoy Mariachi Friday's and have frequently taken guests there for the music and fun. It's not a chain, it's festive without being flashy and the clientele range from couples to young families, to large groups. There is a small bar however I've not seen "bar flies" hanging out drinking. read more

Tried this place for the first time on Friday night and really enjoyed it. We got free chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. We ordered a pitcher of margarita's and to my surprise they tasted very strong which is how I like them. My fiancé ordered the fajitas in the pineapple with chicken and shrimp and I ordered regular fajitas with chicken steak and sausage. They were very good! The rice the fajitas came with was terrible though. Very bland with no flavor. Guacamole was also a bit runny and bland as well. You don't get cheese with the fajitas either just lettuce tomato guacamole and sour cream. The prices were fair and portion sizes are good. We took home plenty of leftovers. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be back to try some more dishes read more
