El Taconazo El Tio - Steak TORTA (DINNER) - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Wow, wasn't expecting to get amazing takeout but I was surprised. Decided to order carne asada enchiladas last minute and was expecting the usual takeout quality but everything was so fresh. The dish was obviously a bit lukewarm due to the delivery timing but the sauce was so delicious and the carne asada was the perfect texture. I would love to go in person to the restaurant and try some of their food fresh! read more

I ordered the pastor burrito and a carnitas taco. While I enjoyed both, I definitely prefer the taco over the burrito, but both were worth the price. My burrito was massive! A welcomed surprised because I'm used to being underwhelmed by the burrito scene so far. My friend and I arrived late in the night so the visit was more of a "we need food ASAP" visit, but I plan on returning to check out the quesabirria special in the future. read more

El Taconazo El Tio - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

There are many Taconazos but this is my favorite. Fresh flavors and rich textures, these folks are speedy and tasty. My go to is the shrimp tacos and burrito suizo (a veggie burrito smothered in cheese and sauce). We all have a fun uncle, make Taconazo El Tio yours! read more

When I lived nearby in Humboldt, I would always go here. It's so good and very affordable. Very cute spot with wooden table s and a family atmosphere I was a vegetarian back when I was regular so even though I eat meat now I still get the veggie gorditas, the potato one and the rajas con queso. Really good and very filling The service is quick. The only downsides: my back is not as good as it was so the wooden chair was a little rough. I've also never cared for their table salsa but I would be a fool to dislike something given for free. read more

AMAZING carne asada tacos!! I've now order delivery from here three times over the past few months. The taco platter comes with three tacos, refried beans, and rice. The tacos are topped with a heaping amount of cilantro and onions. They were so yummy. We also ordered guac which was excellent and super fresh. Only reason I dropped a star is because on my most recent order the meat was a little tough and had some extra chewy pieces. I'm thinking that was just a off night though. read more

The food was amazing--full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was relaxed, not too crowded, and the music was just right. The dessert was delicious, and the staff was so friendly and really took the time to connect with us. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to! ¡Definitivamente volveré a este lugar! read more

SO FIRE! Everything is so good and full of flavor. This is most def a north side sleeper & IMO very underrated or maybe we're just two late gringos. All I know is it's our new go to on rotation. read more

Overall, The food was delicious. The homemade fresh orange juice was so yummy. The agua de horchata was freshly made as well. My partner had the menudo and loved it. Definitely coming back. read more

Placed an order through Uber eats & nothing was good! Ordered two torta dinners & threw 60% of it away. I ordered extra avocado & was given 4 maybe 5 thin slices & some of them were turning black! As I trying to eat some of this after waiting for almost two hours all I'm thinking is does anyone in the kitchen have an desire to be there cause the food sure doesn't look like it! read more

This is my go-to spot for solid Mexican food, and it's always a great value for the price. My favorites are the taco dinner or the quesabirria special. The consommé is on point--flavorful without being too salty. However, I should knock off a star because the birria can be dry sometimes, which is a bit of a letdown. The guac can lack flavor once in a while, but honestly, I don't sweat it. Everything else more than makes up for it, especially when paired with a large-ass horchata. Majority of the time, I order to go, but it's good to know it's BYOB if you dine in. Even with a couple of hiccups, this spot always satisfies. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Got food poisoning, I wouldn't bother coming here for food. There are way other better taco places to go to in Chicago.

Any time I was hungry they were available. Ive moved away and not a week goes by that I don't think about their food.

Tbh I've gone a few times now and it's becoming a go to for me because the food always smacks and the value is pretty good! Thank you so much! read more

With so many great Mexican restaurants in area don't waste your time here unless you're desperate and are willing to accept poor service.

I use to love this place but today we ordered a quesaabirria and burrito and there was barely any meat on both; my quessabirria had a pinch of cheese(it was more hard cold fried tortilla that meat and cheese). My lomo taco was luke warm...I don't know what happened to this place that they became so stingy with food. The chip dish had like 10 chips....last time I'll be coming here. FYI they have a bunch of additional fees that most restaurants would never charge. When I asked to see the receipt the cashier had an attitude. Gratuity is automatically included...for the service and food i received they deserved zero extra dollars. read more

My favorite tacos in Chicago!!! Order the taco dinner. And it's byob! Family owned and they have the best service!!! Cute little family neighborhood spot! read more

Found this spot while looking for quesabirria. I love that they're open late-- service was 10/10 and the food was delicious, not to mention the Horchata is some of the best I've had. Will be coming back. Highly recommend:)) ( Just a heads up there is an automatic gratuity of 18% for parties 2 and up if you decide to dine in so be aware of that) read more

Obsesssssed with this place. Best tacos in the city in my opinion. I love their tortillas. I usually get the veggie tacos and they are amazing. Today I got the veggie burrito and it was soooo good! Very good service as well. read more

Food: Good Service :Good Price: I've been going to this place for 2/3 years. Family run. As I said, good service and food. It's was a moderately priced menu which figured into my budget well. But something happened and the prices have gone waaaaay up. We had a enchilada and a taco dinners. Two non alcoholic drinks. $54 The reason I love Mexican cooking is because it's basic peasant food without any haute cuisine pretentiousness. No matter where I've gone in this country a taqueria was always a good bet for a cheap good meal. If this type of pricing is a trend in restaurants, and it looks that way, I will simply stop eating out. Adios Tacnazo El Tio. It was good while it lasted. read more

Delicious Mexican food quick delivered. Every time I've ordered here it's spot on. Highly recommend.

Came in on a chilly October night. Went out with the girls and decided for a late night meal to check this place out. There was 5 of us total. We order and everything came out quickly shortly after. We get the check and see that there's a 18% tip added for two or more people!!! That's crazy!!! If you don't wanna pay the 18% go alone or order to-go ?? I'm not sure if it applies to to-go orders. Food was good though!!!!! read more

I love this place, even though I don't know what its name means. Taconazo = stomp or kick and El Tio = Uncle? (I thought it would've been something like Tio's Taco House, but no no no, bad guess! I never learned Spanish, so it's my loss.) If you have info, please let me know or add it to your own fancy-pants-and-plans-to-match review! (I will abide as a mock Zen Dudeist in the meantime.) Anyway, we enjoyed this place so much that we went twice in one day. (It's not the usual veg place that we're looking for and in fact, I wouldn't go here if you're vegan.) The food is good and cheap and the staff are friendly and very fun to be around. Salsas are great, ranging from the mild to medium variety that they bring in a bowl to the bit more spicy red and green salsas in bottles. We got the veggie tortas on very good bread. They're more or less pre-flattened and pretty substantial. Some say that less is more, but I'll go with "more is more" in this example: it's big and good! Veggie tacos and the nachos were also great. Nachos were bigger than expected. Fluorescent lighting adds an atmosphere of something like, "it is night and you are alive and real!". You are alive and real, after all. read more

Fresh food and always tasty! Everything I've tried has been delicious. The meat isn't fatty or greasy. This place has become my go to

Food was awesome especially the service was amazing as soon as I walked in Liz greeted me with a welcome her and Matilde were excellent

I never leave a bad review unless it's actually rewarded I reward this place one of the worst Mexican places I have ever tasted I literally took the time out to take the food back I ordered chicken enchiladas they had big pieces of chicken breast with the fat not even cooked through all around it it was like just like a bunch of bs put together then my husband ordered 2 steak tacos and the tacos were completely dried out because they kept them on the grill the whole time so it was like eating just like you just bit into a piece of cardboard... I'm sorry for doing this I work in the food industry and I never ever complain even if it's a little off but this was just overboard read more

Love it, if I could eat tacos every day I would come here and one other spot I just don't eat fat and they have that in the meat some people like it and some don't I'm one of them it's the texture for me All Restaurants should have both with fat or without let the people choose in my opinion read more

It was very delicious! I had the tacos dinner, the el pastor and carne asada. Also the barbacoa.

Food was alright but the fact the charge 18% gratuity for a table of 2 or more is unreal, won't be going back for that reason homeslty makes no sense I understand a large party but that just seems like a scam read more

There's A TON of "taconazo" restaurants so I almost left this review for the wrong restaurant. Be sure of your address! I almost always dine in and it's BYOB fyi. This is my favorite place for quesabirria. It's not on the menu but it's a great deal and the special super hot birria hot sauce (not to be confused with the consome) that they give you a bottle of with it is to die for. Just writing about it makes me wanna go back right now. The chips and salsa are also fire... definitely check this authentic Mexican spot out if you haven't. read more
