Hands down the highlight of my recent return to Chicagoland. Never really explored pozole much when I lived there. Just blown away by this rendition. It was cold out last week and wanted a soup/stew for a late lunch. Researched this spot based on various online reviews and boy was I glad I chose it. I chose the red (was encouraged to by the nice gal at the counter) over the green and white pozoles. Ordered horchata as well which was one of the best I've ever had. Milky, full of flavor, and not watery. This pozole was incredible. The pork inside was plentiful and tender and the hominy was nice and light/fluffy. Tons of flavor throughout and nothing overly salty. The cabbage, radish, avocado, and lime fixings on the side really make this dish special and brightens everything up. The chicharron also was fantastic. SO much food for the price. Huge bowl! Crazy. Can't wait to go back! read more

And muted tvs on. *Jamaica fresh water was not fresh at all; had a spoiled aftertaste; when brought up to the older server lady, she said "it can't be, I just changed it yesterday" umm, okayyyy..... still. Did not ask if anything was needed after food was serviced at table.. young girl was nice & smiled but urgently needs more training & not from the older lady. This is our second time here and honestly they have such great pozole. One size bowl for $11 and they fill it to the rim with meat, caldo and maíz (hominy) excuse my spanglish. They also supply all the fixings that go in the pozole. Chips and salsa on the house too. If I could give this place no stars I would between them and Grubhub I don't know how they stay in business. I made an order online and it said it would be to my house 30-45 minutes after an hour I tried to call the place and the lady kept acting like she didn't know what I was saying and the hung up on me twice. After getting hung up on twice the app said my food arrived it never came. Then I call Grubhub and they ask if I wanted them to make the food and deliver in 27minutes no thank you just give Me my money back no need to go to this place ever again. Imo the best pozoleria in the Humboldt Park/Logan Square area, but that's because I prefer "Estilo Guerrero" which has a thicker broth, almost with a molé-like consistency. Flavorful and aromatic. There are "picaditas" as well which are basically sopes, served with pepita seeds on the side. Much better than a certain other pozoleria in the area. read more

Honestly my most favorite Pozoleria of all time! I live in the neighborhood and I have to get pozole from this place almost religiously every weekend! Melissa and Areli, the two waitresses, are super nice and you can instantly feel a family vibe once you go into the establishment. My personal favorite pozoles are the red and the white! My brothers get the torta de asada from there which comes with fries and they are to die for! If you're in the neighborhood and want a big old bowl of delicious pozole, DO NOT hesitate to come here. Okay so here is the 411! I am a big menudo fan. I don't usually get pozole because menudo is such my jam. However, this places red pozole is incredible. I got the green too which was also really good but this red pozole will make me go back...like tomorrow. They give you a healthy serving for $11 and they do not skimp on the meat, the hominy or the toppings. There was so much meat and hominy in my portion it was like eating a stoup (stew/soup). They provide you with a few hard corn tortillas, two pieces of chicharron, cabbage, onions, radishes, lime, avocado and all the spices. Incredible! So, at times I'll need to go through extreme measures to speed up the healing process, so I turn to my roots for guidance. The grandest of all Mexican sopa dishes, pozole, is a wonderful and effective way to combat a nasty cold, with its rich spices, multitude of vegetables and hearty meats, this thing can set anyone's immune system straight. Living in the northwest side of Chicago, I struggled with finding a decent spot for some pozole. It's not exactly a common dish I've seen in Mexican eateries, but thankfully, here in the Logan Square area, we got somewhere that actually is well known for their pozole! I went for the pozole rojo, and for $11, you get this overwhelming bowl of soup goodness, along with some sides of tostadas, avocado, and more. Without a doubt, this meal is worth every penny, especially when you consider the quality of the soup itself. Just the right amount of spices are mixed into the pozole, which cleared my nose right up as soon as my spoonful reached my face. Of course, the restaurant offers more than just pozole; it's got all the Mexican classic dishes you love. At an affordable price coupled by good quality food and a comforting interior (they had a DJ booth at the other end of the restaurant...music nights?!), this is an acceptable spot to satisfy anyone's needs. I order red and green pozole. I don't know if it's because I went later (after 5ish) but the pozole tasted maybe like I got the bottom of the pot. It was super salty and the meat was crumbly like from being reheated to many times. Also got the grittiness you get from mixing the soup up. Stumbled upon this place when I was in the neighborhood visiting a friend. What an underrated gem. I LOVED the green pozole and it was unlike any other pozole I've had before. It was thick and flavorful and so filling. The thickness of the soup and the fatty portions of pork were balanced out by the fresh cabbage, avocado, onion, and radish toppings. I also tried a gordita for the first time here and it was so delicious. The crispy pork skin complemented the masa well. Service was not as great as food but the staff were all friendly and attentive. My husband ordered a menudo and was told it would take 20 minutes. The rest of the food came out in about 15-20 minutes. After we almost finished all the rest of our food, he asked about the menudo and was told they were out. Despite this, I'm definitely down to come back to have more pozole and try out the menudo as well. read more

Pozole! We had a great meal at the Poz Iguala. This is definitely​ a ​cozy neighboorhood spot. Before we ordered the server brought some fresh chips and refried beans. The table also had some unusual and tasty salsas. PI has a fairly extensive menu, but we came for the soup. If you don't know what pozole is, you should google it because you won't learn much from the menu. There are three flavors/colors: Red, Green, and White (for the Mexican flag?). I had the red which was med. spicy and very delicious. My girlfriend had the white which was creamy, not spicy, and equally (igualy) as delicious. The soups came with a side of fixins​ such as radishes, onions, avocado, chicharro,​​ and tostadas. We also tried the horchata which was one of the tastier varieties I've tried. As a final note, there isn't much available for vegetarians, so keep that in mind. read more

I just have to say!!!! Pozole is an artisan dish prepared only for especial occasions in my home. Then I found Iguala during the quarantine... Thursday was not boring anymore!!!! This is the best pozole that I've had in Chicago. Both the red and green are great, but I would go with red if you've never been or haven't had pozole before. Their tacos and other food are also great. Make sure you use the red chili flakes in your pozole if you like heat. The staff are always very friendly and takeout is quick. read more

Finding authentic pozole is not easy. After a long search, I did find one in Berwyn (which I will not name here) which was also featured on Chicago's Best. When I was informed of Pozoleria Iguala, I was a bit hesitant to try it out because of my past experiences with overhyped places that truly did not live up to their name. But I have absolutely no regrets! Pozoleria Iguala brings the authentic Mexican flavors of our adored pozole. I had the white pozole during my visit, so I can't speak for the red and green pozole (but I can imagine they're also amazing). Will definitely visit again! read more

Heard about this place through a friend and had to try it. Nice cozy place with a feel of Mexico, our sever was very attentive and the food was even better! The picaditas reminded me of my moms that are thinly made. We also ordered the red Pozole which i give it a 3.5 and this is why. Although it does have a good taste i think it is too salty, if it was less salty and a bit more spicy it would be a solid 5! Overall i give this place a 4 stars and hope to be back to try the Green pozole ! read more

I was super excited to find this new Pozoleria (5 months old) in our neighborhood. It lived up to my expectations. The free chips and salsa include a small bowl of delicious refried beans. We ordered a pork grind Gordita and it was made to perfection with the right amount of crunch and flavor. We also ordered the red pozole and it came with the traditional toppings on the side (cabbage, onion, avocado, radishes, & lime) as well as chicharron and tostadas. The pozole's rich and authentic flavors were amazing. It also had the right amount of spice, but there's additional red pepper on the table in case you want to make it spicier (like I did).
