Don't believe the high rating. It's NOT a typical Mexican food taste/seasoning nope not at all! This is from a Latin background opinion! Don't bother. The tortilla ugh no no no. I've never said Chipotle is good, I don't like Chipotle, but if you had me pick between the generic MX Chipotle chain and this place I'd pick Chipotle. I can't believe I have that type of opinion after this experience. Enchiladas are not enchiladas the "red" ones were only wet on the outside (normally it's in and out ) and the sauce was similar of a watered down mole sauce , on the watery side when you eat. Please go elsewhere. Service was good if that matters. read more

We were out in Bourbon for a baseball double header, and decided to grab dinner in Sullivan. Found this gem in Sullivan.... EL Sol. The food was of the charts good! Something for everybody here too. One of our party is a vegetarian and he even had plenty of choices too. They were very willing to do substitutions to make sure everyone was happy too. The service started out a little slow, then got to be fantastic!! Derrick did an awesome job taking care of us. There was 6 of us and he handled it great! They also came up afterwards and sang our 15 year old birthday boy happy birthday and brought him a dish of fried ice cream! We'll be back here in a few months for another tournament and we'll be here to eat too!! read more

This place really hit the spot after running around meremec Caverns with the family. I was beyond full but I was not going to sacrifice a single bite of pulled pork to leftovers. The margaritas were well done. I actually had to take some of mine to go because I ordered a grande assuming they wouldn't be very strong. I learn to respect my margarita! If I lived in Missouri I'd be back here but I was just passing through the area. If you are passing through I recommend planning to stop here. This is by far a great Mexican restaurant! Great atmosphere and amazing staff. Very attentive and the food is always delicious. Margaritas are delicious. Street tacos are my go to and this place never disappoints. My husband gets their arroz con pollo and adds onions and peppers and it is always very good. We came here last night and it was great!!! All the flavors were there for the food but the service was kind of slow. We waited about 25 minutes before we got our food. I think because it was a little bit busier for a Friday night, the back of the house was swamped with orders. The waitresses and waiter were great with making sure we had chips and salsa on the table as well as our drinks filled. The only thing is we were never brought out waters. Other than that everything tasted amazing. My friend said those were the best beans he'd ever had. My boyfriends Burrito Carne Asada had the best white Queso sauce. I love Mexican rice and it was full of flavor. The carne Asada tacos tasted like your typical taco truck street tacos, which is delicious. Also it was National Taco Day so they gave me a free taco when you order 3. Alma was a great waitress. Aside from the fact maybe we were just so hungry and the cooks were taking long, everything was great!!! This is a great spot to come visit when you're around this area!!! For my boyfriends and I check we got: 3 Modelo's, large strawberry margarita, 3 carne Asada tacos, side of Mexican rice, and Burrito Carne Asada came out to $40 with tip. read more

Negative: Unfortunately this was not a great experience for us this time. Issues that we experienced were various. There were a numerous amount of flys in the restaurant, wondering if the kitchen keeps their outside door open? A couple of our dish items were luke warm at best, tamale was overcooked or stale, I could hardly cut it with a knife and the meat looked old. Also had issues with the wrong items being served. Positive: Server was excellent, very friendly and apologetic for the kitchen issues. She quickly worked to try to correct these errors. Chili Relleno and Chicken Chimi was good. The beer was cold. Owner/manager promised to address these issues. He also took $5 dollars off our bill. Overall: We will try them again. Everyplace you eat out at can have a bad day now and then. El Sol is located in Sullivan in the strip mall by the old sonic (now Master Donuts). Covid Protocol: No masks or social distancing required, the place is relatively clean. Relatives suggested coming to El Sol for a Birthday celebration dinner. My husband and I love Mexican food, but sadly the menu was pretty much the same you see in any other Mexican restaurant in this area. We ordered Carne Asada, a chicken fajita salad and Fajita Mixtas. Except for the Salad all came with platters of refried beans with the obligatory blob of cheese on top, a tiny spoonful of Pico de Gallo and red colored rice. We were served chips and salsa and received our drinks within minutes of being seated. Unfortunately the drinks were not correct so the person serving us had to go back and bring the right drinks. I specifically asked for lemon with my water and they had to go back to get that. My husband asked for non-sweet iced tea and received sweetened tea instead. We also had to ask for an additional menu and additional silverware. Instead of bringing four of everything, the person serving us only brought three of everything. The food was pretty uninspiring. Everything was bland and overcooked, except for the refried beans (canned and just warmed) and the one sprig of cilantro in my pico de gallo. Once my husbands guacamole came (ordered on the side when we placed our meal order), we had to ask for other additional items we had ordered multiple times. We also had to ask for salt and pepper and additonal napkins. Because it took so long we eventually got them ourselves from the supply at the register. Every time we asked the waitress she brought us what we asked for right away, when we asked the gentleman that had originally served us, we had to wait quite some time since he also greeted and seated guests and filled their drink orders. It was not busy. Only one other table had guests, the bar was empty and four other people were seated when we were halfway through our meal. Because this was a birthday celebration (and our relatives couldn't leave well enough alone), we sat through a rendition of a birthday song and were given two sombreros to wear while the staff was singing. That was a nice touch but having to wear a hat clearly worn by other people before me was a bit cringe worthy in my eyes. We also received a taco shell with ice cream and whipped cream and sprinkles for our birthday. I'm lactose intolerant, so no go for me but I did watch everyone else share it. Overall it's a three star place for me. Not better and not worse than everyone else. read more

I was on my way to the St. Louis airport after having spent the week in Rolla, MO......not exactly known for its culinary delights.....and had been craving a good cheese enchilada for SOOOO long. I saw a sign from the highway for another Mexican restaurant and actually pulled off with intentions of going there, but saw Los Cabos first, checked out their Yelp reviews, and decided to give it a shot. And I'm glad I did! Prompt friendly service, clean place, beautiful decor, and the food was delicious! I ordered the lunch chicken chimi with one cheese enchilada a la carte.....and it may quite easily be one of the best chicken chimi's I've ever had. No, really. It was that good. And the salsa had just the right level of heat with just enough sweet to balance it out. Totally unexpected, but highly recommended. If you're in the area, check them out. read more

Great food and Great Service. For a long time all Sullivan had was El Nopal which me personally I am not a fan after two times in a row getting sick. The atmosphere is a little loud on weekends but you expect that when it's busy. The Cabo Margaritas (Top shelf) are well worth the extra few bucks. So far I have tried 3 different meals all of which were excellent. The cheese dip has a little spice kick to it. If you have never tried fried cheesecake, it is Amazing and I dont know of anywhere else that serves it. read more

I'm giving this a 5 in context of what it is, a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The carnitas and tilapia are great. The "Carne en su jugo" soup, which oddly is in a different part of the menu than their other soups, is special - a full meal in itself. I've never seen it anywhere else. The mushroom or spinach quesadilla appetizers are great. The "tamale deluxe" is an insane amount of food for under $10. My wife and I either eat in or takeout there probably 2 or 3 times a month and have never had a bad experience. read more

Our hotel recommended Los Cabos for dinner and glad they did! Service was great thanks to our waitress "Econ", and the food was VERY GOOD!
