Bought empanadas and parcha on a cold cold February night on Belmont from the truck, wish I could order everyday! Unbelievable.

This place was pretty off-the-hook when we went there on a Sunday afternoon. The windows are dark…read moreso you can't see in but the Latin music was cranking. Once we went inside it was so loud it was in fact louder than just about any club I've ever been too. It was absolutely impossible to hear anything.. There were some tables and seats at the bar, and a DJ spinning Latin CD's at the back of the bar area. Disco lights were flashing and strobe lights were popping. We mouthed the words to the bartender a few times and eventually she understood we were asking for margaritas. We saw some pretty interesting food going around and got some menus. The menus were LONG. There were a lot of Puerto Rican items on the menu (and interestingly all around this town) and I wasn't all that familiar with them so I sort of picked stuff randomly. The bartender was able to figure out what I wanted because I was pointing to the things we wanted. It was still so loud my wife and I could only communicate by texting each other on our phones. It made me laugh to think of people who complain about places being too noisy -- this was a whole 'nother level. The food came and it was mostly very good. Potato croquettes (Rellenos de papa) stuffed with ground beef, a shrimp filled crispy fritter (pastelito de cameron), alcapurrias (fried green banana rolls with ground beef), mofongo con carne frita (a sort of mound of green plantain mashed up served with fried pork) and a side of mofongo de plantano maduros (which I think ended up just being regular plantains). I thought the mofongo con carne frita ($10) was supposed to come with white or yellow rice and possibly plantains and fried potatoes but it didn't come with any of those items. That's ok, we had enough food but it wasn't clear why it didn't. It was good. Mofongo on its own is sort of bland and starchy. The guy next to me had a ketchup bottle of something that looked like thousand island dressing and after some pointing I eventually got my own bottle. It was pretty tasty but did kind of taste like sort-of spicy thousand island dressing. Not sure what kind of sauce it is officially. The potato croquette was good and cheap ($1.25). The green plantain one was not my favorite. The plantains were good. The mofongo and carne frita was good. We actually ordered another shrimp fritter ($4). It was pretty tasty. It's not clear if there is a DJ playing music all the time or this was just a special occasion. The margaritas were a little sweet. They used mortons table salt for the salt which doesn't really work too well (I didn't get salt on mine). Not sure that this is really a "margarita" sort of place. We eventually just started drinking Modelos. The area is a little bit of a rough area and the crowd might make some people nervous but everybody seemed to be ok with us being in there. Some of the tables eventually ended up with hookahs, which is surprisingly popular apparently in Springfield. The Puerto Rican dishes I've seen in there I have now seen in a number of other local establishments. If you're looking for more traditional Mexican food this is really a different thing. I'm glad I went. FYI other people seem to refer to this place as Restauran El Mofongo. With the sauce they came with adding an extra punch of flavor. There were an assortment of meats including multiple types of cuts of beef, chicken, pork and also fish and shrimp. For the food I ate beef ribs, chicken legs, ground beef, beef stew, and chicken rice. I also had plantains and these potato balls stuffed with chicken, the pork should was good but a bit to salty for my liking. Everything else was phenomenal. The dessert included a flan, coconut flan, compote, these three were great with the flan being the best. The salad/fruit bar featured an overwhelming amount of options, and was a great way to end the meal. My critiques are the lack of hand sanitizer in the restaurant, especially for a buffet, and the plastic utensils, with no spoon or knife given. Other than that check this place out you will love it.

We were very surprised with the staff singing someone a very cheerful happy birthday. Very Nice Thank you and we will see you next year again .

A Place That Feels Like Home…read more Some restaurants are worth visiting because of the food. Others are worth visiting because of the people. Hola Restaurant is one of the rare places that gives you both since the moment you walk in. I first discovered Hola about 4 years ago when I was working near Island Pond. Every Friday, my coworkers and I looked forward to ordering from there. We'd all pitch in for breakfast or lunch, and my boss would pick up our order. It quickly became our Friday tradition, and honestly, it was always the highlight of the workweek. Over the years, Hola has become much more than just a restaurant to me. I've trusted them to cater my baby shower and my son's birthday, and every single time they exceeded my expectations. Whenever friends or family come to visit, Hola is one of the first places I take them because I know they'll leave impressed, not just by the food, but by the experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. No matter what we order, it never disappoints. Even now, living about 40 minutes away, I still make the drive because it's simply that good. What truly sets Hola apart, though, is the people. The woman who cooks is one of the sweetest, most loving people you'll ever meet, and the staff makes you feel like you're walking into a family member's home rather than a restaurant. They remember your name, they remember your family, and they genuinely ask how everyone is doing. Those little moments mean so much because they make you feel seen, appreciated, and welcomed every single time you walk through the door. In today's world, it's becoming harder to find places that combine amazing food with genuine hospitality. Hola Restaurant has mastered both. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share because the food usually disappears before I even think about taking one! But trust me when I say this place is worth every single penny. If you're anywhere near Springfield or even if you're not, make the trip. I promise you won't regret it. For me, it's not just a restaurant anymore. It's a place that feels like home, and I'll continue recommending it to everyone I know. Highly, highly recommended.

I went on a Saturday during lunchtime, and I was blown away with the crazy amounts of people coming in. Service was absolutely amazing. Every worker was super friendly. The line moved fast with the number of workers they have. The first bite of the rice and beans was heaven. It brought me back to my grandmother's cooking. They have so many choices of authentic Puerto Rican food. This place is 2 hours away from my house but I guarantee you I'll be coming here quite often. They have seating but like I said first come first serve. Get in here before any rush hours and you'll be ok. They have a great amount of breads as well as Spanish pastries. The amount of food you get for what you pay is crazy. I ordered rice and lentils, with red beans, and roasted pork. It was literally enough for lunch and dinner or two people. This was dine in, not sure how much you get for takeout. Smart me I ordered my kids there own meal which had to be taken home as well. This is a definite go-to spot for Puerto Rican food. The location isn't in the best of towns, but everyone there was friendly and there to chow down.

Food 4 stars, Service 1 star - got charged for food we received, but hadn't ordered…read more We went on a Thursday after hearing and confirming that there was a pig roast every Thursday and maybe Friday evening. We expected a proper pig roast outside, with a giant pig being rotisseried (gross but whatever). We went out to the patio area to sit, which was actually a really nice ambiance, but there was also definitely no pig roast happening, which was why we came here in the first place. We more or less got ripped off. Three of us ordered mofongo with pork belly (mofongo w/ chicharron de cerdo - $11). The waitress asked if we wanted some chicharron on the side and we said, "just whatever it comes with" and my mother reaffirmed in Spanish that we only wanted what it came with "como venga" (since the waitress seemed to only speak Spanish, which is fine). We get our mofongos and it comes with extra chicharron on the side which to be honest, I would never have ordered because I don't eat that much meat and also would never order a meat that I already had in my mofongo. I only finished half my meal by the end. And of course, when we get the check, the mofongo meal costed $25 each -- over double the menu price!!! -- because the waitress added the extra chicharron on the side. Which makes no sense since we literally didn't ask for it in the first place. Literally she more than doubled our order and the price for no reason. Service-wise, it took absolutely forever to order, get our food, and get the check despite us being the only customers for 75% of our time there. I understand they may have had delivery orders but honestly it was getting ridiculous towards the end, sitting for literally 20-30 minutes with no water after we had all finished eating (half the group ended up leaving us with cash and peacing out). Now, I will say that the food was pretty good, not amazing but good. The yuca fries were the best part and were 10/10. But after the slow service in addition to getting ripped off and doubling our order without asking, I can never return here out of principle.
