The green salsa had an "off" taste like the smell of mowed grass which it used to not have. My barbacoa taco was too fatty and I could not detect any spices at all. Tortilla was still pretty good. I also had their sautéed chicken "fajita" taco which is still the same taste but was pretty dry meat. It's ok but not what it was.

I noted that the door listed them as open on Sunday in case the tacos were worth a repeat, great! Tacos were good so the plan for Sunday was the same. Unfortunately, when we swung off the highway Sunday morning I saw a conspicuously empty parking lot, which was not the case on Saturday morning. Drove up to the door, sure enough, dark and empty inside, and sure enough, the door did say they were open Sundays. Oh well, we went another exit closer to CL and got tacos there (also good). The tacos at Rico's were solid, I would get them again, just not on a Sunday :)

First, I'm a very proud Mexican, I'm fluent in 4 languages. So I don't have a problem with ordering pretty much anywhere. The problem was I was the only one bilingual in my party. Please understand the following. I'm not even remotely stating anyone's ethnic background or language is wrong. So we get up to order, I notice the huge accent on the young lady, and she was struggling mightily to speak English. So I ordered in Spanish. There was a man standing next to her, perfect English. I got my cup, went to get my drink while others ordered behind me. I had to go back and translate, because the person behind me was almost in tears trying to order. Like watery eyes and red. What didn't help is the young lady behind register was so bad at hiding her facial expressions, she was annoyed and frustrated. So this is where I have the problem. Why didn't the other gentleman step in, and why have someone taking orders, who can't understand if someone doesn't speak Spanish? I would think because of the area that wouldn't be the case? It really upset me, and the affected person had to go to the bathroom, I'm pretty sure to cry. It wasn't that she couldn't order, but the fact that they mentioned more than one person behind the counter was making faces.. Enough of that. After getting situated and calm, the food began to come out. As for the food, I was excited because as perplexing as it was, the crowd was 99% Latino. Which is 9/10 a great sign we are about to get great food. NOPE. Talk about insult to injury. Dish after dish it was all woefully under seasoned. Like the cheapest laziest way possible. I know you think, I'm just being harsh because of the incident. No, I was actually hoping for the opposite to soften the mood. I mean, everything lacked salt. Everything lacked kick. The awful pink coleslaw on the fish and shrimp tacos was unappetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing, and we all picked it off. I've never seen that in Mexico, or any other seafood place in town. The ceviche also lacked kick. I think I heard, "this is like canned tuna with lime?" No tang or kick. The green table sauce was equally unimpressive. No bite. The coctel was very imbalanced. The servings are tiny for the price. I could go on and on. The one positive, I don't know if they have a machine to make their own corn tortillas, or they buy them, these are the best I've had in a while. I say bought because they were all perfectly the same size and shape! Yep they were pretty darn good. Other than that, I genuinely do not understand the high reviews. I tried the shrimp ceviche, large fruit cup and a mangonada which they split into smaller cups so my girls could try it. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious! I had enough shrimp ceviche to take home and have a second portion the next day. I also arrived on a customer appreciation day where they hired mariachis to perform.
