A large Dos Equis in an ice cold mug
Wanda M.

This was our first visit to El Rodeo Number 9 located on State Road 67. We were greeted and seated immediately in a booth. The decor is a neutral color scheme instead of the colorful decor of most Mexican restaurants. The menu offers Appetizers, Burritos, Enchiladas, Quesadillas, Fajitas, Tacos and Speciality Dinners. As soon as we sat down chips and salsa was delivered to the table. The mild salsa was good and the chips were average. Our server arrived quickly and took excellent care of us. My husband ordered a tall Dos Equis and I had a 27 oz. Texas Margarita. We love the large sizes and great drink prices. For lunch, my husband ordered the Hot and Spicy Burrito with a flour tortilla filled with chicken, beef, beans and rice, then covered with beef tips, salsa ranchero but minus the cheese and sour cream. He was disappointed with the 4 tiny beef tips toppings when it said covered and it really wasn't spicy. Perfectly fine Burrito just the description doesn't accurately describe the Burrito. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas with 3 cheese Enchiladas topped with Pork and chili verde and served with rice and beans. The Enchiladas were good and I had a nice amount of toppings on them. The Flan was a little thick for me but I still snarfed it down. Our server was efficient, checked on us often and cleared dirty dishes quickly. Overall, everything was good and we had a nice lunch at El Rodeo.

Pretty okay spot for Mexican food if you want to stay in the Mooresville area! This is my 2nd time visiting this location. I ordered a sangarita and it was delicious! Although it is very sweet. For my entree, I ordered enchiladas rancheras, one of my go to meals. I will say there was a LOT of sauce on top of them, and it was supposed to come with guacamole, but didn't. I wasn't too worried about it though! The flavor was good and not spicy at all. Our server was also super friendly! We will return when we are in the area!

The fajitas were good but the sides of lettuce, sour cream, beans, etc was so small. We ran out of sides before we ran out of the chicken and steak. The margaritas were huge and nicely mixed. They didn't have beer because something was wrong with the tap. The salsa is probably some of my favorite. Nothing stands out as special.

Ordered a strip steak and cheese burrito looks and tastes like hamburger. Service was horrible. Had to yell just to get refills of water. Plus the argued with us over what a chalupa was aparently its a bean tostada Don't waste your money here top it off when tried to tell rhem what we thought and the a$$#$ tried to take my plate away when i was still eating! We weren't asking for a refund, just trying to inform them of the disatisfaction we felt about their food and they wanted to argue with us about it.

Free salsa and chips with your entrees. Just the right amount of flavor for our tastes

I've seen some negative reviews about this restaurant, but let me tell you what I like about it. My wife and I live close by and this has become our "go to" for nights when we don't feel like cooking and want something that we know is consistently satisfying. This is the one restaurant where I always order the same thing. I always order the tacos carne asada. It comes with 3 small soft shell taco shells wrapped around some delicious small bite pieces of beef that are seared for flavor. If you like beef flavor, then this is the meal to choose. I always request that lettuce and cheese be added (there is no extra charge for this). It also comes with small bowls of pico de galo and of a spicy sauce that adds even more flavor, but not too much heat. The meal also comes with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. It is always enough to fill me up, especially after eating the free salsa and chips. My wife loves to eat the Chimichanga. Gets it every time. Service is always fast. Even though there isn't much interaction with the staff who mostly speak in Spanish to each other, there is enough understanding of English that we always get our order correctly and quickly. I can't speak to all the other dishes. We found something we really like the flavors of and at a price that is reasonable. And it tastes like real food, not like fast food. I don't know if it is better or worse or even authentic. We aren't fans of super hot spices, so the food here is what is consistently expected. Isn't that what a neighborhood place should provide? We think so and will continue to return. Review #12

Good food but customer service is just sad. But they truly don't care so this review is probably pointless!!

A friend of ours told us about iguanas Mexican restaurant in Moorseville so the wife and I decided…read moreto try it today. It's in a strip mall cute little place. We walked in and we're promptly seated. The menu was huge. The chips and salsa were delicious. I ask to try the tomatillos Sauce, it was very tasty and had a kick to it, made my nose run. We decided to split the shrimp tacos. They were huge with lots of cilantro, avocado, and what tasted almost like Yum Yum sauce when you bid into it it had a smoky flavor. We couldn't figure it out until the wife said the huge shrimp were bacon wrapped. It's pretty tasty. We will be going back.

I had the quesobirra tacos. The meat had minimal fat and the taco was fried to perfection. Be warned that it is A LOT of food. The taco platter comes with three hefty tacos, plus rice and beans. We also tried the chipotle dip, which was queso dip plus chipotle sauce. It was very good, if a bit thin. It would be great if they could add some thickener so that it stayed on the chips. There is an extensive margarita list and you can order them on the rocks or frozen. The hubby ordered a blackberry margarita and it came with real blackberries. It wasn't overly sweet and he had the option of a plain, sugar, or salt rim. Service is friendly and fast. The prices are reasonable. There are ample spots in the parking lot. While the ambiance is just a view of the parking lot, they do have several outdoor tables.
