Food was fine. I tested them with a Relleño order, and he did a good job. The poblano was fresh, and that will cause a rather runny plate of food, which might horrify some, but not this guy. Lift plate, tilt and slurp all the delicious liquid, put plate down....and finish the cheesy pepper. Ladies all enjoyed their meals, the Pacifico was ice cold, and we were in/out in decent time to keep the shopping day going. Nice lunch...

The chilaquiles were very authentic with tortillas, verde sauce, two over-easy eggs, and included rice and beans plus a choice of steak or al pastor. I went with the al pastor. It was good, although a little different than I expected paired with chilaquiles. Everything tasted very fresh. The salsa seemed house-made, the guacamole tasted freshly prepared, and the overall meal had that same made-from-scratch quality rather than feeling assembled from premade components. For example, the pineapple relish on top of the al pastor was made that day. We sat outside, which was a great choice. The patio overlooks a greenway and waterway and made for a very pleasant lunch setting.

I cannot say enough about how good everything was! Our server was very helpful with recommendations. The restaurant itself is clean and not overly loud like a lot of Mexican restaurants. Here are the hiccups: No Chips & Salsa complimentary starter. Not a deal breaker for me, but some folks will not like that. Huerache shell was not good. It was very thin, to the point where it was almost an oblong Tostada. Of course I had to have a burrito with Buche, but there was a disappointing amount of pig stomach in it. It was mostly rice. At today's prices, nobody is going to be satisfied with a rice burrito. In addition, most items are ala carte. They do list platters that come with rice & beans, but it's strictly typical stuff, i.e., Enchiladas, Tacos, Rellenos, Carne Asada, etc. If I wanted rice & beans with my meal, it would have cost me an additional $9. Yeah, no. No breakfast burritos offered, either? Kind of unusual, right? Big issue, is the picnic-packages of plastic cutlery they give you with your meal. Knives can't do the job, and food just slides off the forks. Thanks for the metal spoon with the Pozole', though, haha. Staff is nice, and happy to be here. I'm sure hoping the issues are just because of opening kinks. They are competing with three other--very established--Mex places in Cheney, and the previous other attempts at Mex in this building obviously didn't make it.
