Over due review from the last time I was in town! Dined here on a week night (there were 5 of us) and didn't need a reservation. However, the service was very slow. It's a very casual spot and I'd say the cuisine is a little above average. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were solid, especially the grilled onions. Got in late to town showed up at the restaurant about 40 minutes before closing. Staff was friendly and hospitable.. Margaritas were delicious , will drinks for a good pours. Love the salsa, grape flavor wish they had hotter stuff . Food was delicious great flavor and huge portions. Cute little complementary dessert afterwards. Prices are very good and reasonable. We stopped in here for lunch and were disappointed. We stood awkwardly at the front of the restaurant for several minutes wondering if we should sit ourselves or wait since there was no sign and two employees walked past us several times without even greeting us. The food prices are high but the menu has a decent variety of dishes to choose from. I went with the chicken fajitas and the chicken tasted "off" and it had a weird seasoning that I have never tasted on fajitas (usually my go to dish). I was pretty disappointed in the flavor and only ate 1/4 of it. Service was not good, albeit it appeared there was one server for the entire restaurant. It was disjointed and rushed. We had to ask for refills. Maybe it was just an off day but I doubt we will be back. read more

Our first time here. We split steak and chicken fajitas. Such delicious flavor! The chips were crispy and fresh and the salsa was spicy and yummy. The chips also came w a cabbage pico that was also very good. And the Diet Coke was the perfect mix. Staff very friendly and service was prompt. We will def be back. It always disappoints me to have to share a rather negative review but if honesty and perception I had of a dining experience means anything, it would be that I would want true feedback for other Yelpers so they can make their own decision to visit and try out a business. Negatives - too many and a disappointing dinner as I was here on business and could have had a much better meal at a few other restaurants in Cheney or Head to Spokane. Chips were rather stale and the red salsa tasted more along the lines of a can of stewed tomatoes that were puréed. Bummer. I had the carne asada with a Corona.. thankful for the Corona beer as it helped avoid ruining my dining experience all together. Rice and beans were your typical no thrills version. Nothing to write home about but ok. * Carne Asada steak was flavorless, bland and tough as a leather boot. Seemed like they used a liquid charcoal type marinade to try and make it seem like it was grilled on charcoal. Tasted strange for sure. I had to return it to the kitchen as it just wasn't edible. I asked if I could just get two ground beef enchiladas and although plate presentation was good it too fell short. Enchiladas were also flavorless and it seemed I was seeing a trend here. They did bring a nice little dessert bite with the bill to end the meal so that was nice. If in Cheney I would have to recommend you try any other place before visiting this restaurant. Food was enjoyable. My margarita wasn't. Good sized portions, but spendy compared to other near by Mexican restaurants. They are the first Mexican restaurant in the area that I've tried that doesn't put a bunch of bell peppers in the shredded beef, and that makes me happy! The little cinnamon sugar chip with whipped cream they gave us at the end of the meal was tasty. So I understand the food was cold but this order was taken pretty fast and I received it at 3:24 and ordered it at 3:11 so I ordered the super burrito "filled" with beans rice your choice of meat lettuce tomato and sourcream well it was only filled with meat and rice the beans lettuce sources and tomatoes were on top I also ordered the nacho supreme I ordered through eagle bites well it asks if you want jalapeños I didn't check the box due to allergies first bite was into a jalapeños to the point I had to use my epipen so I don't breakout thanks for that then I bit into something that tasted either like cold fish or shrimp read more

Lively atmosphere the Saturday night before EWU starts back, but even though it was busy the service was friendly and the food arrived hot and delicious. Had the Camerones Diablo platter and it was excellent. Huge portions, enough food left for dinner the next night too. Others had the combination of tamale and chimichanga and it was delicious too. One of the three (if you count taco bell) Mexican food joints in Cheney. This place is hoppin' after an Eagles came. I gave them an extra star because despite how busy they are on game days, they always have a smile on their face and don't appear flustered or stressed. I really liked their salsa and slaw dip. Both of these were really unique compared to other places. I ordered a chicken Expresso Burrito which was good but nothing that set it apart from burritos I've had from other Mexican restaurants. I've heard this place used to be pretty good when it was called Fiesta Charra (Cowboy Party...kinky) However, I ate there today and was not impressed...at all. Everything was just ridiculously bland with little to no spice...unless you count grease and salt as spices. It's not that it was bland, it was just...food. I'm afraid this is not an unbiased review. One of my family's favorite gringo Mex restaurants in Washington is in Moses Lake, and it is also El Rodeo. Thankfully, the nice family who run the one in ML decided to open a second restaurant in Cheney. It never disappoints. We don't know what they marinate their chicken in, but we all agree it's some of the best we've had in the Spokane/Cd'A metro. We never seem to order anything else. But hey, why bother when it's consistently delicious? When your expectations are always met, it justifies being repeat customers. El Rodeo is our first choice for family get-togethers. They have a large dining room, always clean, with beautiful handprinted murals and bright latin colors. Theres room at the back if you need privacy. The food is plentiful, if sometimes a little mild for my tastes (maybe trying too hard to accommodate 'gringo' tastes?). I like plenty of hot sauce and am partial to shredded beef, but I really like their chili verde, with an ice-cold Negra Modelo! The waitstaff is attentive, courteous, and work hard. Especially with family, I appreciate not having to wait forever for our meals. As with many Cheney businesses, they've been shorthanded, but seem to be rebounding after COVID. read more
