Good service and AMAZING food. Tacos are on point. The inside is decorated nicely with Mexican style things everywhere.

I have been going to El Rodeo for years and lately the service has been going downhill. Today was the final straw. We walked in and there was a group of people ahead of us. Part of the group was made of elderly people who were clearly uncomfortable to be seated on the hard bench. No one person on staff acknowledged us. Another couple walked in and they immediately got seated. When the host came back, we (both my party and the other party) let them know what happened. She pretended not to understand what we were saying. This woman has worked there for the entire 20 years I've been going. She knew what was said. Didn't apologize, didn't try to make it right. If this place plans to continue, they need to figure out how to run their business better and perhaps remove staff that continue to cause problems. This isn't the first instance where something like this has happened to me personally, nor am I the only one it has happened to. read more

Trusty traditional-ish Mexican joint in a small town. It's a great part of Bolivar. Service was great. Food was great. Menu was massive. The atmosphere was fun--it's decorated as one would expect from a fun small town Mexican restaurant, making for a fun time. Jo complaints here. Great service and solid quality. We were seated quickly and our server was very friendly. He was able to answer every question we had regarding the menu. Our food came out at a timely manner and was fresh and hot. Each item provided different flavors which can be difficult for some Mexican restaurants using the same ingredients in different menu items. The environment was clean and cozy. Great salsa - had a slight vinegar flavor and was more puréed mixed with chunky tomatoes. The burrito special was filed with rice, onions and ground beef. Over the top was a thin beef and tomato garlic sauce with small chunks of tender beef and potatoes. It came with creams and was excellent. The waitress said they had been there 22 years. I love my restaurant in my town but this is a close second! I had the Chicago Burrito with Carne Asada. Large burrito filled with meat, refined beans, lettuce, avocado and tomatoes. Carne Asada was very flavorful and tender, perfect! The atmosphere is beautiful. Great food!! read more

On the square sits this restaurant that looks much smaller from the outside. It seems it's an extremely popular spot in town, but that could also be because there's not much there. I sat down and got the typical chips and salsa basket brought out with my tea. Nothing special about the salsa. Ordered the beef soft tacos, and they came out super fast!!! Like within 5 minutes no joke. The tacos weren't amazing but not horrible either. The price was okay; I just felt like I was eating Mexican Villa without the cheese. Not terrible and if this is close and all you have; hey I get it. read more

Spent $10 on a meal that was served on a plate the size of a saucer. Tasted good but portion was not fitting the price.

My first and last visit to this restaurant. The food was (not joking) not edible. The beans tasted metallic and very chemical-like. As a result, many of us had to send our food back. The manager offered something else but the beans were so awful that my appetite was ruined. The service was subpar also as we had to get up and ask for additional chips and salsa and drink refills. Also had to find someone to cash us out when we left. Unbelievably bad. We will not return to this restaurant. read more

Not my favorite but some people seem to like it. The food is generally bland basic Mexican. I know when trying to appease many people bland is safer than spicy. El Rodeo lives in the bland zone. El Tres Amigos Mexican in Bolivar, MO has better food. read more

This gem is Topaz. This has to be the best authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. Wonderful staff, reasonable pricing, and the food was mouthwatering great. I'll definitely be going back when I travel to Bolivar again. Congrats El Rodeo. read more

Awful! I've never, ever eaten such slop!! (I've eaten from many, many taco trucks aka roach coaches in some of the worst slums in this fine country!!) The chips were obviously from a discount store that buys their goods from a truck wreck. The salsa wasn't as tasty as always save ketchup. Then comes the burrito. I believe it was called the "hot and spicy." I could of built a fire in this thing and it wouldn't of been hot and certainly not spicy. Absolutely pathetic. I don't know what keeps this place open, but you really need to figure out how to cook. Again, I've eaten from many and I mean many food trucks!! I mean real paper plate plastic fork roach coaches. You should be ashamed of yourselves for expecting people to pay for this so called "food." read more

I've eaten at quite a few Mexican places in the Midwest, and this is the best one by far. Incredible prices, I always walk away full, great service, and so much interesting if a bit kitschy decor. Their chips and salsa, which are complimentary, are great. If you like queso dip, definitely get theirs. Their lunch specials are a super deal, and dinner is very reasonable too. read more

Good Americanized Mexican food. I'll give it 4 stars for the area, but in Texas, this would be a three star restaurant. Over all, the service is good, the food is good and its pretty cheap. This is my parents favorite restaurant so I spent a lot of time here throughout the years. I've always liked it and now that I live so far away I find myself missing it and comparing every other Mexican restaurant I try to it! It's worth your money to try it at least once. Our family's visit to El Rodeo was overall pleasant, but could have been better. As a party of six, we were seated and attended to quickly by a friendly waitress who was more then happy to answer any questions we had. The first thing you're bound to notice about the place is the cool designs everywhere - the chairs almost look 3D. The colorful artwork gives a nice touch to the place. The second thing you'll notice upon opening the menu is...wow, it's big. Some of my party was overwhelmed by this. Others will be delighted. There's pretty much any Mexican dish or combination that you could think of on this menu. However, what you won't find on this menu is alcohol. An old menu online suggests that they did serve alcohol at one point, so I'm not sure what happened there. If a staple of your Mexican restaurant experience is a cold beer or margarita, you might be disappear. I ordered the camarones al mojo de ajo and was pleased with my meal. I'm not certain what exactly was in the rice - I know it was supposed to be Mexican rice, and tomatoes were definitely in it, but it almost seemed like there were bits of some other meat in it? I dunno. Maybe I'm crazy. The rest of my family were also pleased with their meals. Some other miscellaneous comments: The "free Wi-Fi" didn't seem to want to connect during my visit. The restaurant was also quite loud during our visit, though that wasn't necessarily the fault of the restaurant as it was the inability of some people to use indoor voices. Overall, El Rodeo was a nice place to stop in Bolivar. I would recommend it if you have a large party with a variety of tastes in Mexican food, because as I mentioned before they pretty much have everything. read more

I ate there today I had beef and chicken burritos and they were cold as ice and over priced not to mention the hair my girlfriend found in her salsa. Next time I want authentic Mexican food in Bolivar I'm taking my ass to taco bell at least the don't charge 8 bucks for cold burritos!!!! read more

I am so glad this restaurant is in Bolivar. There isn't much choice in the way of Mexican Cuisine in Bolivar, where people think Taco Bell is "real Mexican food." El Rodeo has great options whether you like chicken, steak, seafood, or veggie choices. I have eaten here at least half a dozen times with my family and have always had the opportunity to try something new and delicious, and I have never been disappointed. Our server has always been friendly and efficient, bringing warm chips to snack on with salsa along with our meal. The only thing that would make this better is if I could order a margarita ;-) read more

If you like dirty restaurants, cold food, questionable meat, and no atmosphere, look no further- heaven awaits you in the garbage swamp that is El Rodeo. To your right, you'll see an ancient gum ball machine, to your left, you'll see the remnants of the last forty meals consumed by what seems to have been all children who like to smash, mush, and smear their food anywhere and everywhere. And yes, that is where the host is headed to seat you- if you're lucky, he/she might swipe at it with a crusty brown rag and knock it on the seat before expecting you to sit in it. If you're unlucky, you might wake up in the dead of night and regurgitate everything they pulled out of the garbage disposal to serve you in a questionable tortilla. Either way, good luck- there's a reason only the locals love most of the places here in BoMO while the college kids avoid them. read more

Great food, excellent service, they really care about their customers based on how we were treated after a recent serious illness and returned, love the entire place and everybody in it. This restaurant must not think that there is a virus in the city of Bolivar or Polk County or in the world. Stopped in for lunch on Sat and no one, not one employee had a mask on. Wait staff was running around the isles next to the tables full of patrons while others stood over customers at tables taking orders all with no face coverings. Other than an installed plexiglass divider in front of the cash register we did not see one precaution of any kind being taken to prevent or lower the risk of contacting Covid - 19. There was no 6 foot spacing or distancing. The menus looked filthy and when we asked if they had been cleaned between customers the wait staff did not know. We walked out and will no longer eat there. When a local business has absolutely no concern for the health or well being of their customers that they refuse to take even the basic steps to lower the risk of virus spread then they won't be too concerned about the lack of customers. read more

I am on a low carb diet and can not have dairy so, of course my order has lots of special request they got them all right.
