I was passing through the area on my way home from a long road trip, when I searched for a BBQ place, Curly Que was first to show up. I stopped in and asked the lovely lady what she recommends, she said the Brisket was hard to beat. I ordered that along with the hand cut fries and slaw. It was probably the best BBQ I have had. This spot is a GEM in Missouri. I was working in Bolivar for a month and this was highly recommended to me. The smoked chicken was tender and juicy, fries were awesome and the banana pudding was to die for! Service was very good and quick, I went every week and never disappointed. The best brisket north of Texas, outstanding pulled pork, and juice, well seasoned chicken (white meat too). The Hand Cut Fries are delicious and crispy too. More food than my wife and I could possibly eat for only $26 including an extra drink, an extra side, and the gratuity. I have heard that service has been very slow, but we experienced the opposite... surprisingly fast. As others came and went we saw nothing but fast, courteous service. This was a cute and family friendly restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. I ordered a brisket Sandwich and Cheesey Potatoes. The brisket was full of flavor. They don't add the bbq sauce, but they have bottles on the table that allow you to control how much or how little of the bbq sauce you want. The Cheesey Potatoes were pretty good and reminded me of scalloped potatoes with a hash brown type texture. Rather interesting and I ate them all so nothing to complain about. The brisket Burger was also tasty and the cucumber onion Salad was delicious. We also ordered the cheesecake and banana pudding which we forgot to grab pictures of. The cheesecake was nothing crazy but still good however the banana pudding was to die for. Well worth the $4 and you get a decent amount. Overall it was a nice little date night at a yummy restaurant and we would return again. read more

Bolivar has always needed a good BBQ place. I have seen some inconsistencies, but when the brisket is good, it's really good! The service has always been great, and the ambiance fits perfectly. The website does not have the full menu, particularly the kid's menu or the options to order meat by the pound. read more

Wow! I didn't expect much as I normally don't love bbq. This was very good. The pulled pork had a spice maybe chili powder which normally I don't like but it had a nice balance. BBQ sauce had the same flavor with a little more hickory flavor which I wouldn't normally like but I was surprised again as it was a nice balance. Cole slaw had a slight spice as well and I enjoyed it too. Husband had brisket and fries and I loved the crispiness of the fries. I wish I would have ordered them! read more

We used Curly Q to cater at our wedding, mostly because we were on a tight budget and they had easily the most affordable rates for bbq that we could find. We would have been happy with anything half-decent, but the food was truly incredible, and greatly exceeded our expectations. We asked for the pulled pork, sliced chicken, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and slaw; all of these were outstanding, but the meat and potatoes were amazing! We both got the pulled pork sandwich and it was great. It comes with fries but you can sub for traditional bbq sides for no additional charge. I got the cucumbers and onions and they were so good. Similar to how we make them at home. My husband got the fries and they are delicious as well. Plenty to share. The banana pudding is good too. We stopped in our our route from Branson to De Soto. we ordered the smoked chicken, beef brisket, and beef brisket burger. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The fries were thick cut pure yumminess. The smoke and seasoning on the chicken was divine and juicy. The staff was super friendly. For lunch Curly's didn't provide exceptional BBQ but it was satisfactory. Though the overall experience didn't "wow" it could have gotten a lot closer with a few tweaks. Curly's offers the standard Midwest BBQ items. You order at a counter and food is delivered to the table. When asked about Curly's most popular items the reply was brisket and a hamburger option. For a BBQ place the second answer was surprising--a burger rather than smoked meat. Ribs are a non-negotiable menu item for Midwestern que joints. It's not surprising for a place to run out during the day but when I visited Curly's was out at opening. Cup lids were also absent--maybe not a problem for eat-in diners but a necessity for take-out. Food was delivered quickly and efficiently but with no follow-up service. Presentation was also off. My brisket--and my colleague's meals--were served on large plates that made the meals look tiny even though the portions were adequate. Unadorned and unnecessary large hamburger buns sat alongside the meat selections, which were also dwarfed by the bread. Four meals meant four unused buns. The brisket had a 1/4" smoke ring on the top side, evidence of a long smoke. I liked the heavy smokiness but others might be put off by it. My side of slaw was described as creamy but any sauce barely registered, giving the slaw a very raw taste. I'd give Curly's another try but with another BBQ place in town I'd likely visit it first. read more

Going in there the first thing I saw was that they didn't change anything really from when Hot Cluckers was in its place, so it was still dark and uninviting to sit and eat at. Then I was greeted by the front of house, he didn't know anything about the food, I asked what was good and he had no answer so I was thoroughly disappointed in their service automatically. I ordered their Clucking Cow burger and was disappointed in every bite, first the F.O.H asked if I wanted lettuce tomato pickle or onion and I asked for no lettuce, but everything else, I was handed a burger with nothing on it except the egg and cheese and fries that it comes with so I was disappointed in that severely. Then the menu says the egg is supposed to be runny but I got an egg over hard, and that was genuinely unappetizing (but I finished my meal because I don't waste any food, it's my rule) I also ordered cheese curds and that also was unappetizing to the taste but maybe to my own palette as every cheese curd I've experienced has been cheddar and much to my dismay these were mozzarella, though for a dollar more I can eat actual mozzarella sticks as they're also on the menu, so I'm really paying a dollar less for half a mozzarella stick. Overall as I conclude my review I'd say they're about as mediocre as they come and that there is nothing, not even the sad looking store bought pecan pie in the front to ever make me go back. read more
