Come across this cute little restaurant while shopping along 4th street in the heart of Santa Ana. While having to wait on an item I just bought a few shops down, I decided to give El Rincon a try to kill some time. I was promptly seated when I arrived and received complimentary chips and salsa while waiting for my Huevos Rancheros. While the chips and salsa were pretty decent the eggs on the other hand were not. The eggs just tasted bland and were very disappointing. Also it gave me heartburn for the rest of the day. I didn't care for the tomato sauce on top of the eggs nor the yellow onions everywhere in this dish which completely ruined it, imho! 2.5 stars for reasonably priced food and friendly service but inedible food. If you ask for a small plate with beans + cheese it's taste! I have only had the pleasure of trying out the carne asada tacos and the prices are decent. I found the service to be acceptable. The only wonky price I got for one tequila shot was at $14 a shot. So I politely declined. Thank goodness I asked before I ordered that. Parking can be tight but if you are okay with walking you should be fine. Love the new outside patio as I find it inviting. Plus I have a better view for people watching. I look forward to my return and especially to try out the other dishes. The homemade salsa's are spot on! Good food, good service, good prices. Perhaps there has been a change of management or ownership since 2018. I had the Enchiladas Verde. The chicken in the Enchiladas was breast meat of very good quality cooked tender and moist. The Verde sauce was tangy and tasty. There seem to be a lot of buying drinks for transient women and a lot of groping from men. They gave us literally a handful of chips with the salsa cup, not even filled halfway then the waitress that was wearing sandals with pantyhose, took her order and forgot about us. She was too busy, entertaining other people, then a male waiter had to come by, and actually bring us our dreams because he even asked who had helped us. The food quality is horrible where it should not even be mentioned. This place is an absolute dumpster for food. I am shocked to read all the five star reviews because I absolutely believe that this is manipulated by the owner because there is absolutely no way that this food is quality food, I return the Menudo because it had a hairnet and they literally dissected the bowl in front of us to the point that I had to remind them that I would still pay for it that is when they decided to finally walk away. My brother and my friend and I had time to kill while in Santa Ana. We walked around aimlessly for 30 mins until we found this place. Customer service was the first thing we noticed, the man who served us was very nice and professional. The food was brought out quickly and the food was delicious. We have been to El Rincon a few times now. Not only is the food delicious but the service is amazing! Martin goes above to ensure we are attended to! We have gone there to celebrate in small & large groups and Martin is always ready to accommodate us. The past two times we have been fortunate to enjoy their "Bravas Drag Brunch" on Sundays AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! They are all fabulous gals ready to give their best! I came in to the restaurant because I like to try out restaurants with low ratings and give them the benefit of the doubt. I had the aguachiles and man they were amazing. I also had a carne asada wet burrito and it was as authentic as it gets. I am a wet burrito enthusiast and this one was amongst my top 3 hands down. The meat in the burrito was tender and juicy just as it should be, not overcooked like most places. I had a michelada, it's really hard to get a great tasting michelada but this one was pretty decent. I have yet to find a spot to go for just the micheladas. The decorations are a little outdated but food and service was great. They had Karaoke when I was there and the server explained to me how they sometimes have live bands. The salsa that comes with the chips tastes like it comes from a can. I ordered two enchiladas thinking you can't mess that up. Well, the tortillas were stale hardly any meat in them and the asada was very dry. The sauce in the enchiladas also came from a can and very bland taste. The service was very slow, I noticed people sitting around waiting to get some type of assistance from the waitress. I finally walked up to the bar to grab my bill, after asking for it 10 minutes. Wish I checked yelp reviews before coming here with my family. Waitresses didn't acknowledge us when we came in. Getting our drinks took forever, tasted awful, and were extremely overpriced. I ordered a margarita and the sever came back multiple times asking what flavor I wanted and then if I wanted it blended or on the rocks. Sever only spoke in Spanish which also made it difficult to ask for things. We had to ask for chips and salsa while we waited. The music was so loud that we couldn't even hear the server when she came to take our order, that should have been a sign to turn it down. Customers started doing karaoke and it became even louder. Our family just wanted to get out of there. Food was dry, over cooked, and flavorless. Server also never brought us silverware or hot sauce for our meals. At the end of this awful dinning experience the server came over and spoke perfect English. We were so confused why she didn't speak English the whole time, it would have been easier for us all. And lastly when she brought us our check, she hovered over my husband waiting for him to put the tip in, which was very awkward. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we've ever had.
