We were in the area and decided to stop here for brunch. Employees were friendly from the beginning. Greeted us and sat us quickly. You can tell it's an older restaurant that has been there a while, not dirty just older. The atmosphere is fun with good music playing. And it wasn't super loud taking over our conversations. Then the food. The chips and salsa that came with our drinks were disappointing. They didn't feel fresh. It then felt like a long time between ordering and getting our food. Especially for being pretty empty. Food was ok; nothing that we would be dying to have again. Service throughout our meal was minimal. Our food came, and then we weren't checked on again until the end when we were asked about needing boxes. He brought our box then disappeared, left us wondering about the bill. We waited then decided to just go up to the register. NOTE FOR THOSE WITH LITTLE ONES: the bathroom is the size of a shoebox with two stalls squished in. And there is NO changing table. Ordered some mole enchiladas and also beef taquitos through DoorDash. Food was received within the time quoted. The food looked tasty and good on portions. Enchiladas were tasty, rice & beans were ok. The taquitos from the look, looked great but when I bit into them the beef was a bit dry. Very very very little guacamole. All in all the food was delicious, portions were good, I think price was a bit high for quality, but I'm the one that chose & agreed to purchase. Well upon walking in and waiting to be seated everybody looked at me like why is he here and didnt seat me for a while with lots of open tables. Me and my wife were ignored the whole time we were eating. No one came to give us water ever without us needing to wave to get someone's attention but the servers were at all the other people's tables without them needing to ask. Me and my wife were the only Caucasian people in here eating and i can see why because we were totally ignored the whole time. I used to loove this place their wet burrito and shrimp quesadillas were so good! I came here on a craving for that shrimp quesadilla it's been forever since I came and it was total disappointment. It was a quesadilla with like flavoreless shrimp, boiled pre cooked idk how the shrimp had no seasoning no nothing, not even cut. They tasted like they used the shrimp from a cocktail but the texture was sorta over cooked. I still ate it because the cheese and salsa was still good which is why they're getting 3 stars. My family and I have come here occasionally for years. All the staff have great energy and are great servers. The food has not changed, as in the flavors are always deliciously and satisfying! Before covid, this place would be poppin with families. Also there were certain nights where they held karaoke. Now during covid, they have a set up area outside the restaurant so you can dine outside. My family and I personally haven't done that yet, but we do order over the phone and pick up. After trying there many locations throughout the area, I think I've come in terms with this location as the best one. For some reason, the food is here taste a little better, the rice and beans is fresh and on point. I've tried multiple dishes here and I think my favorite the chilaquiles. Other restaurants I've tried, it just doesn't taste as good. Be careful, this dish is really good and you will keep eating until the dish is clean without realizing how huge the portion is. I also only speak and review on "verde" chilaquiles, I'll have to try the other versions. The salsa here is also really good. I've been told that a good salsa at any Mexican joint can go a long way. But at that point we had waited so long and I was so hungry so I just ate it. Also, our server never came to check on us to make sure we were okay or needed anything while we waited for our food. We wanted to order another drink and maybe some more chips since our food was taking so long to arrive but never got the chance to since our server was no where to be found. It just wasn't a good experience. It had the potential to be because the place is nice, the vibe was great. The restrooms were clean enough and the servers were friendly, so for that they get 2 stars. I'm sure it's a great place but This wasn't one of their best nights. Haven't been here in a couple of years. I've always had great service and delicious food. I ordered the shrimp burrito with the Diablo sauce. Also a fresh squeeze orange juice. My wife had her usual #3 molcajete. Both were delicious and the food never disappoints. So happy we stop by to have dinner. Everything looks good on the menu and I'm curious to explore. Definitely will be returning. I urge you to try as this is a hole in the wall type of place. Only down side is that no A/C. I would of given 5 stars but I like to eat comfortable.
