I was so excited about trying out this place but sadly I have to give it a 2 star . It was 4 of us , I noticed three tables were busy and so I figured we would be well taken care of with 3 servers on site a three cooks in the kitchen . Menu was very impressive and I wanted to try everything and we all did each order different dishes and we all shared , we asked for different aguas Frescas and I noticed neither one of our drinks had pulp or song that they were made with fresh fruit . All drinks were served warm not even cold or refreshing . . We got our food in partial visits . No salsas to wake up the flavors of the dishes , our tacos began to get cold so we had no choice other than wait another ten minutes for the remainder of the food and also for a servers presence to remind them about the salsas . The Tripitas tacos were delish that I will give em props for but unfortunately without salsa it just wasn't hitting as it should so I ordered another set of tacos but these last two tacos were not even close to the first set . They were very oily and the tortilla was dry and guess what ? No salsa . I asked for a Coke to wash down the bitterness .. it's a shame when we come all the way from yucaipa to meet our family to a place they raved about and it's a fail . . Servers were cool people and again it wasn't busy and we had 5 dishes 4 aguas , Mamey licuado, guanabana, mango , and a tepache.. there's no essence in the drinks .. I don't think we would make the one and half hour drive to meet and eat here again . Another downfall was when we left I read a sign from the health department and those are red flags to me . I should've started there and knew this wouldn't be good . I did tell our male server about the drink and he said oh maybe next time they can do it better . Smh opportunities come and go and this one's gone . Good luck . Hopefully the owner can be there to either help out retrain and to give this place a good cleaning in the inside including the restrooms those lacked attention . I'm sorry I really wanted to give this a 5 star .. I count even take a picture of our dishes since they were not even complete with its garnishments . read more

The service is really bad , nobody welcomed me, I walked in and I have to take the menu myself, not even a good morning, they take a long time to come over my table and finally I order the pambazo and 1 taco de canasta and a soda , my mom ordered tostada de pata one taco and coffee, pambazo was burn , no flavor, they made the pambazo all glad and burn , the taco was all grease, they forgot my soda , on the tostada she just ask for no sour cream but , just pata and lettuce?? This is a hidden little gem of deliciousness. The tortas, tacos and menudo are super tasty, just to mention a few; similar to the flavors in Mexico City. Highly recommend it. There's available parking. And tables are continuously opening up in case it's busy. Every so often there's a musician stopping by to share his music. Enjoy! read more

Their quesadilla de tinga was soo flavorful and good. The servers are very nice and it was pretty busy. But the wait is a little long and sometimes when you ask for something they forget and you have to remind them. While the quesadilla was good, I would say their burrito not soo much. the green salsa is lacking that freshness and flavor and the meat and everything inside is lacking flavor too. I came in for quick, healthy bite while I was enjoying how lovely Santa Ana's Downtown Area offers gems like this one. A simple menu with all the necessary Mexican usuals along with the standard soups that usually offered on weekends, primarily. I ordered a soup, and I got a cheaper off menu option that they must of made just for my price point. The owner was charming and we chatted about the classic 1960's videos playing on their TV. I was the only customer there and it felt like I was in their own American Dream. If you have a hearing disability, for this kind of restaurant, it's as good as it gets. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was young with my family. The food is authentic and very delicious. The pambazos aren't greasy at all compared to other restaurants. I just came out of this restaurant very disappointed. The white pork pozole had no taste. Very little pork but plenty of chunks of fat, they give only onions and lettuce as sides for it. Not good at all. The asada fries.... I wish I had taken a picture. Fried, refried beans and very little pieces of "shaved Carne asada" with no taste to it. When I asked about the sides or sauces on top she said that's how it comes. That's it. I asked for some cream and salsa at least to put on top and she charged me a dollar for each extra thing on the fries. So, no good taste on the food, wrongly prepared, no sides unless you pay extra. We had come to this restaurant many times before but recently with a new management there's terrible service. And we found a hair in two of our orders, after we couldn't even eat our food, we were disgusted. Once we told employees what was going on they acted terrible. No apology and acted as if it was our fault, trying to put the blame on us when you could clearly tell it wasn't our hair. And we still had to pay full price, regardless of the hair in our food. On top of that, once we paid, they were about to charge us more, for losing our bill until they found it, and again didn't apologize. Do no recommend. This place should be shut down, unsanitary and terrible employees. read more

As far as hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints go, El Rincon Chilango is probably my favorite in Santa Ana. That's quite a complement considering there are like a million of 'em in that area. However, the food at ERC is excellent, cheap and the restaurant is located just a short drive away from the court house so it's makes for a nice little lunch spot. I highly recommend their tacos! For just under $2 each, you get a double layer of flour tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat, cilantro and onions. These are authentic Mexican style street tacos, not the crap you get at Americanized places that's stuffed with cheese and lettuce! Both the carne asada and carnitas are delicious. I'm not a big fan of their burritos though. They put a bit too much rice and beans in it for my tastes. However, you just try their auga fresca drinks. They are made by blending fresh fruit with water, ice, sugar and milk (optional). My favorite is strawberry. Indoor seating with waiter service is available complete with a television that is usually playined futbol (soccer). However, I prefer to just order at the walk-up window and sit outside. Whether you eat inside or outside, they give you free chips and salsa. The chips are just so-so on their own, but are kinda addictive with salsa they give you. don't come here unless your ready for an hour wait and rude customer service i had let the cashier know i found hair in my food and she tried saying it was mine and about how i have hair in my face??? and then i compared the hair i found in my food to my hair and then she continued to debate overall terrible customer service after that the food we had received was cold not even warm my spouse had ordered enchiladas and it's like they were barely microwaved or something like that the "mole" sauce they put on top wasn't warm and my spouse also ordered a bottled sprite and when she received it, it wasn't even frosty cold it's like it had been sitting outside the fridge for a while. when i asked an employee if it usually takes an hour after sitting to be served the first plate of 4 she said "it's like this all the time it's always over an hour wait especially on sundays" i had said "really even at 10am it's that busy that the wait is 1 hour read more
