Stopped to eat on Sunday 9/7 right before 2 pm. We have eaten here before so we knew chicken tacos & chicken fajitas are good. On the menu tacos were beef. I asked could we get chicken. He said yes we could get either meat. I told him we would take the chicken taco plate to share as we just needed a little snack. Waiter brought out food & it looked really good. We took a taco each & bit into them to be surprised with a different meat. I added beans to the taco because the meat tasted close to canned chili (Hormel chili or something). The last taco we emptied on to the plate to get a better view of what was actually in the tortilla. Mystery meat is what it was. When the waiter came to the table for us to pay we informed him that those were not chicken tacos and showed him the meat that was on the plate. He just glanced at the plate. We paid, tipped him & went on our way. We couldn't get home fast enough. That mystery was trying to come out & reveal itself. We made it home. Thank God for 2 bathrooms. I had to immediately run to the throne room. It smelled horrible coming out. 1 taco with a couple spoons of mystery meat had turned into a toilet full. Thank goodness after 3 trips I pooped mine all out because my counter part threw up several times before going to bed & again on Monday morning. Here we are Monday afternoon & finally trying to get some liquids & decent food back in. One thing about it I don't have to ever eat there again & I won't. The name might be El Rey but they had us on the throne so they will not be reigning anytime soon. Save your stomache & toilet paper. read more

I don't know why I waited so many years to try this amazing Mexican restaurant out. Fernando is a super sweet friendly waiter. Great margaritas. And the food is delicious. It's probably mine and my husband's favorite. My daughter lives in longview and I told her about this restaurant and she frequents this place often. Everything I have eaten there is fantastic. The chef is quite creative and their seafood recipes are delicious and taste very fresh. Most Mexican restaurants are about the same to me and very few stand out, which is OK because I love Mexican food, but this one is a step above. The reviews that talk about lousy service I don't understand, because every time we've been there they've done great. And just a thought here, all you have to do is ask one of the multiple servers for help if you need it; but every time we've been there we've had great service. read more

Went there during my lunch break & found a roach in my food and one crawling on the wall/window beside me. After mentioning to my waiter he seemed to not know what a roach was and was not offered any discount or any apology for the inconvenience. I ate here on October 1st with four other people and I can only say the food was outstanding and authentic Mexican food. They have huge portions and, if you can eat all of one of their plates you're a better person than me. Very friendly server, and the food was reasonably priced. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food (not Tex Mex) at a reasonable price, I would give this place a try. read more

We always get fajitas for 2 and have been happy with the flavors and portions. However I got a Mummy Burrito last Friday, and it was pitifully small. For $15, the portion was not at all worth it. Will not order that again. They also upcharge for credit/debit cards, despite me telling them to run as debit not credit. That will impact our decision to go there again or not. We ate here on a Monday after a long day at the medical center three blocks away. I ordered the Chile Rellenos and the wife had the Tamales. We enjoyed both. The servings were large and the price was moderate. There is plenty of off street parking available. I did not get our servers name, he was the tallest of the three males, he was good. My husband got some pork chops he said what he ate was good but couldn't eat much bc he couldn't get a refill on his drink bc our server never came around. My son got a salad that was just all water. He requested more ranch and could never get that. The food was very expensive and mediocre and then they charged us an extra 3.75 to use our credit card on top of an already $75 bill, that was an appetizer, salad, kids meal and 2 entrees and 4 drinks. Needless to say the service was TERRIBLE and food was ok. Probably won't be back. read more
