Our first full meal in Barcelona, we really enjoyed the menu del dia here for 9 euros. It was nothing mind blowing, but we really appreciated the low key neighborhood joint where we could tell the locals like to have their lunch. 9 euros gets you three courses, starter, main and dessert.
I had a slice of a sort of lasagna/casserole thing as a starter, a huge pork chop for main, and strawberry cake for dessert. It wasn't a gourmet experience, but one that I would love to have again here in the US. Also, not only did we get food, but for 9 euros you also get a drink -- like a carafe of wine if you're 2 people, or a glass for just 1. We actually opted for vino con gaseosa, which basically means red wine and slightly sweet soda water as a mixer for a hot summer day.
Overall, it was a great intro to the slightly luxurious yet relaxed way of taking meals in Spain, at a great price point. read more
