Snacks lined up on thr bar (lots of pork)

I really enjoyed experiencing the culture in Sitges - the pinxots! It was a little overwhelming, but fun to try something new. You "pinch" the little comestibles, and then they count the toothpicks when you're done. The sangria was good, but it was better at other places we tried a later. The men behind the bar were very friendly, as well as the patrons. All in all, we found the different snacks to be a little salty, but it was fun to try this eating adventure.

The tapas place where the local eat and drink. Broad selection of the best tasting tapas ever and the price is cheap too. No matter how big the price is only 1.50 euros per tapa. Amazing selection of both hot and cold tapas and they keep 'em coming! Must try when in Sitges/ Barcelona

    Pintxos

As an American I wasn't familiar with "pintxo". I foolishly thought everything was tapas. Last year some local friends took me here. It's an awesome place but can get crowded, only in the main part of the restaurant but there is an adjoining room with more tables. Pinxtos are foods that you pinch together with your fingers. You start by going up to the counter and filling your plate of the mass variety. Every pintxos contains a toothpick so when you are ready to pay they count the toothpicks on your plate. There is a cold section of foods and warm section. If you speak Spanish you can ask the busy person behind the counter what the item is but I don't and I prefer being adventurous and tasting new things. Last night I gave up a rare table to family and sat at the counter enjoying my sangria and smorgasbord of pintxos. 11 toothpicks 2 sangria €23. Great deal. Eating here is like eating Hors d'oeuvres at a cocktail party. It does get crowded.

El Horno is basically an L-shaped bar counter with some bar stools. The small room can get really crowded at night, but most of the action is outside in front of the bar. It's not too bad after September, but every night during the gay high holy days is a gauntlet. You can barely move up or down the alley (and hold onto your wallet). El Horno drinks are pretty standard for a gay dive bar that caters to bears. Mostly well, a few calls, lots of beer. Scruffy bartenders that won't want to mix anything too fancy or that takes too long. Don't expect much. Most of the time my friends and I just ordered beers to keep it simple. If ordering outside, make sure you know which bar your server is working out of. It's that ridiculously crowded.

This one had the added bonus of bearish bartenders, a plus if you're the hibernating type. Basic cocktails were 8€, one Euro cheaper than neighboring CoX Cocteleria, and they liberally made familiar favorites. At night, men packed to overflowing in front of the bars. You are basically walking the catwalk or runway to get there. It's fun to wade through but watch for pickpockets. This became our favorite bar each night where we could observe the passing parade, plus watch which guys are contemplating and then entering Bukkake "Bar" across the way (IYKYK). The servers and bartenders are super friendly. One waiter remembers and treats us as old regulars, and our bar tab was paid up nightly when leaving. Sangrias are good. G&T are popular and gin comes in a huge goblet with separate cans of tonic water. Runway Terrace had an unexpectedly fun and relaxing vibe, but steps away from the action!

Walking through the second door reveals a small bar with 2 bartenders, and a little stage with el piano. What sets this gay bar apart from the others are the live singers and performers that grace the stage mostly in summer. West End & Broadway singers, cabaret singers, et al. A few were so good over the years that I bought their CD. Other evenings have pianists entertaining the crowd. In the summer one bartender does double duty as video DJ and keeps the music hopping with old campy music videos (think oldies like 70-80-90s Europop) plus same era divas like Madonna. I definitely used Shazam to ID a number of songs outside my repertoire such as: The Communards "Don't Leave Me This Way, with Sarah Jane Morris"?! We always manage to have a good time here. We especially look forward to Summer Showtune Sundays which becomes a fantastic singalong. The bartenders are super friendly. The crowd is drunk, fun and many times dancing and singing along. El Piano usually temporarily closes in the fall and returns as the Sitges season restarts. Check their Facebook page to be sure it's open. Also check out the Playbills above the urinals. Unfortunately Jamie W. and I came here when they weren't featuring live entertainment. That was a month away according to the friendly, trivia-saturated bartender. Instead he ran an endlessly enthralling video reel of classic and kitschy movie musical numbers on Showtune Sunday. Of course that meant watching Judy sing "The Trolley Song" in "Meet Me in St. Louis" followed by Liza performing "Money, Money" with Joel Grey in "Cabaret". They had a clip of Dame Judi Dench in a dirndl singing "16 (Going on 17)" from "The Sound of Music". Oh, and of course, they showed Barbra on the tugboat with her wilted yellow flowers belting "Don't Rain on My Parade" from "Funny Girl". Yes, I know the clip is 56 years old, but I can still stand, can't I? Meanwhile, the three gay couples in the bar were sitting quietly enraptured by the video and their Chardonnay. We stumbled up the street and was greeted by a smiley young man telling us that the best place to go for Saturday morning brunch was Soi 33. After no resistance whatsoever, we walked towards it and realised it was the sky bar above our favourite Beach House (see previous reviews). A sigh of relief was followed by a sigh of exhaustion as we walked up three very steep flights of stairs to the roof but was worth it for the views. The brunch menu is great (and offers mimosa lovers a great deal of unlimited mimosas for €20!!!) After waiting over 15 mins for drink orders to be taken (poor given only one other table taken in the place) and then a further 30 mins for our bacon and egg with avocado sandwiches to arrive, it's a good job they were enjoyable. We ordered some sticky wings too (did I tell you we were hungover and hungry) that didn't arrive for a further 10 mins, we were far from impressed. The food was very good but, with very small slate plates to host the food, it feels a bit awkward to eat it (cool and trendy) but brunch people wanting food and HOTD drinks don't need fuss. More importantly however, people don't want to pay premium rates for venue and food and have to wait an hour for food. The staff were apologetic and comped a round of soft drinks, but nonetheless, it needs to go a long way to beat it's downstairs neighbours. Very disappointed but an experience!
