The first time my parents and I went here, we were seated immediately without problems. However the service was slow to start with but in return, we got a complimentary cheese dip (free when you sit down). I will say that the portions are too much for one person. And going for the taco special on Mondays is so not worth it. There was hardly any meat and there was too much lettuce. I could almost compare it to a salad. I was dissatisfied with the attentiveness of our waitress. She only had 1 other table and we had to wait 20 minutes to just get another bowl of chips (we flagged down a different server to do that after she was preoccupied with something else). I will never recommend this restaurant to my friends. If this type of service continues (and I hope management reads this), you have just lost another patron. read more

It's Saturday night, I'm thinking take out Mexican food sounded good. Tried calling several times! They NEVER answered! I finally called "El Dorado" in Raymore instead. The food was great! Newly open, today is my first visit and eating off the lunch menu. Chips and salsa are very good. margarita about average, but still good. Chicken fajitas above average, sizzling hot, large portions. I really want to like this place and I've given it 3 chances. They have a delicious peach margarita and I do enjoy the chips and salsa but the good ends there. I can only describe the food as the equivalent of a low end Mexican buffet the meats are consistently dry. Everything is way under seasoned, relying solely on the salsa for flavor. Food is ok, at best...and the best thing I can say about out group's experience There is NO reason to make reservations, we waited for over 30 minutes for a set of tables, as we watched other party's tables being assembled. Talked with manager, who would repeat my words incorrectly to ...change my mind about what I thought, don't know? It was unpleasant, not to mention unprofessional (at this point who cares, we have kid's , we just want to sit!). Fajitas and hamburgers were very overcooked. My son said his taco was like school food. Can't speak to the rest of the plates. My niece had water spilled on and promised to have a towel brought, which never came. We wanted a good 30 for our check. Kids exhausted, more food than we will ever eat. Our family still enjoyed visiting each other, what ever the difficulties with the restaurant. Terrible service. Food didn't come out at the same time but several mins between each other. One meal was e be forgotten for my child and I had to get up and go find the manager. The frozen margaritas were the best part. Good flavor. It's still only a few mos old so maybe they will continue to work on fixing the kinks. Just went there Friday evening. Staff was super nice, salsa and chips come free and the salsa was really good!! They also brought us some cheese dip for free. All of our meals were very good, besides my son's. He got seafood and crab enchiladas and we really didn't care much for them. But everything else was really good. The free queso was good, but that's where it ends. I ordered a beef chimichanga and it was inedible. The beef was gray and had a very weird flavor. I'm not even sure it was beef. I think they may have given me pork by accident. Either way, it was gross and I only had two bites. My sister had a chicken enchilada and the chicken had a weird pink color to it. Don't fall for the "free" queso! You'll make up for it in the menu prices. With several other Mexican options within a couple miles, I have been hesitant to try El Potro, and it looks like I was right. Yes, you get a free bowl of queso with your chips and salsa, but past that, there isn't much I would recommend. I will say that the salsa is good however, but the chips were stale. We sat at the bar, as I usually try to do to get the best service, but not in this instance. We were there for probably 15 minutes and had been served drinks before we even got menus. The menu is WAY too big, restaurants cannot specialize in so many different options. The margaritas are really bad. It tastes like they use Rose's lime juice for their mix, which is really artificial tasting, no freshness. There are so many other options for Mexican food, an OK one in Raintree and a fantastic one in Greenwood, that I would try those instead. read more

Been there multiple times and have enjoyed each visit, food is good and service great.

I reserved a private room for a women's group meeting. I had to leave a $200 check with them and was told that I needed to call them a couple hours early on the day of the meeting to ensure the room is set up. I got there about 25 minutes early to be sure everything was fine and found customers eating in the room that was supposedly set up for us. I complained to a manager and was told they would be done by 6:30 ( the time of my meeting). In the next few moments, another couple was seated in that room. Our area was only set up for 12 when I told them two hours earlier there would be 20 of us. They eventually reseated the couple. The last of the other diners left at 6:39. Anything that could be screwed up was, we meet monthly and are always looking for good places to meet. We will not be back. read more

I totally believe in giving fair opportunities to places. Went here the first week they were opened and the food was way under cooked / cold. No service etc. We chalked it up to be "opening kinks". Tried it a second time with another family and we ended up leaving after waiting 30 min. outside for a server and even asking the hostess. So this third time was an opportunity to redeem. My salad was the wrong one, no guac, asked for no peppers and it was covered in them. Keep in mind it took 15 for someone to address us once seated and 32 min to get food. Husband asked for black beans and no beans given, his shrimp just looked undercooked. I totally would have given them the opportunity for them to make it right the problem was that I already had to get my own drinks from the station (they had tons of staff and low crowd) originally and for refills. Therefore there wasn't even an option to let them get it right because no one ever checked on us. Watched a family leave through gate due to no service. I gave up. Let the kids eat their chicken and went to the manager. Felt sorry for the guy because he made mention about a big building and cost, but I work for my money too and I expect what I pay for.
