I always order the burrito bowl or Chicken Tostadas salad or Pollo Bowl and always the Homemade Tortillas Soup. It's filling and tastes good. I order for delivery because it's a few towns away from where I live and the only one. There for I order from there twice the month. The process very reasonable and my food arrives still warm. The chicken is flavorful and grilled to perfection, with that signature smoky taste. The sides are fresh, and we especially enjoy the mash potatoes and coleslaw. Went here during dinner time and the drive thru line was busy. I ordered a original pollo bowl but subbed chicken for shrimp with a soda and chips, an order of creamy cilantro dressing and regular chips ans guacamole. Come to find when I get home 40 minutes later that they did not give me the cilantro dressing. I also forgot to ask about my soda so I guess that's on me. Also, the bowl contents was skimped on. Constant banging of meat cleaver makes it impossible to enjoy being here. When I asked him to stop, he said he was required to do this. I do not know how frequently they do this, but they did it nonstop Sunday evening 6/29/25. When I tried calling a few hours later to talk to the manager, he could not hear me and I could not hear him because of the banging. I've never been inside and always use the drive through, on average maybe 5 times a year. I have never had a bad experience except once several years ago, I got tainted chicken or something and got some minor food poisoning from it. I have however been back several times since then and have had no issues so that was probably just a one-off. The drive through always seems quite efficient and pro tip, one of the best values here is the pollo bowl. Check it out as it's still under $6.00 and for me is enough food for a meal. Granted, it's mostly rice, just topped with some diced grilled chicken and salsa, but it's tasty. read more

So annoyed I just came from here and ordered an extra piece of chicken for my child . Got home and they didn't even check to ensure that the order was completed . Did you know there are 487 of them and that the one down in Anaheim produced a 3,112-foot long burrito that weighed two tons, big enough to make the Guinness Book of World Records? That must have been some burrito. I was drawn, however, to the chicken. For a flat twenty bucks, Jamie W. and I could get the 10-piece Legs & Thigh Familia Dinner. It came with a bag of tortilla chips, a bunch of salsas, and two large sides. Food is good but they never seem to have enough workers. Orders take a long time, took over 20 minutes for a burrito.

This review is not a result of one visit, although this last visit makes me never want to ever go back to El Pollo Loco. First off, if you have ever been to this location, you know they are always busy. Whether you go inside or go to the drive thru, you will need to wait at least 10 minutes for your food despite most of it already being ready. So I am always prepared for a 15 minute wait. So, when my husband requested El Pollo, I made sure to order ahead online. I ordered an 8pc meal with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. Simple enough. I placed the order at 12:28 and it said it would take 13-18 minutes. I show up at around 12:45 thinking it should be ready. First it took a few minutes to finally get someone to stop at the counter to check my email. She then tells me it is not ready. Fine, they are busy as usual and I understand. 10 minutes go by and I still don't see my order in sight. I see a bunch of receipts piled on top of one another with no sense of order but only smaller orders that were placed there have been made. At this point, there is now 4 of us waiting for orders. I am not the type to rush people because I don't know who is and isn't ahead of me. However, I soon notice that those customers constantly asking her for their order are getting theirs faster. Finally, the register slows down and another male employee goes to help. I see him finally pack my order which takes only a few minutes. He placed it on the counter for the previous girl to pack but she doesn't pack it. Instead, she is asked about an order from someone who came after me and starts packing theirs. At this point I am standing in front of the counter staring at my food while she packs another big online order. After she packs their food, I finally get her attention and ask if it is my order. She says yes and begins packing. By this time it is 1:02pm, 30 minutes after I ordered. What is frustrating is not the long wait time. Like I said, they are busy. But there was no sense of order in fulfilling the orders. Receipts are just stacked on top of each other so how do you know which to do first. It is also frustrating when you see other people getting service because they constantly ask when I already checked in way before then. My order was already ready but just needed to be packed. Yet she leaves it sitting there to pack another order that isn't completely ready yet. So, as much as I enjoyed El Pollo Loco, I will probably never return to this location. I literally hate this pollo loco. I'm waiting on the drive thru for over an hour which is fine and then my turn comes up. The mic isn't working for over 30 minutes. Instead of telling the cars to drive up to the window they make me wait until they can fix their mic. I tell the worker four times my order and she keeps getting it wrong on the last time I keep telling her I wanted the tostada bowl with no pico de gallo. I keep repeating it because she's saying it wrong. I finally get my order and I have to drive home. I assumed my food was corrected after repeating it so many times. This lady took out the lettuce. The whole point was that I only wanted the pico de gallo taken out. And now I can't go back because I drove home and they are closing soon. If there were half points, this would be 4.5 stars because the app is not good for ordering though it is valuable for looking over the menu and they offer deals to anyone using the app. There are discounts and different meal combinations. OK, I'm taking them up to 5 stars for the actual people there who'll help you, the fresh tasty food and we'll leave the software engineers out of the rating. Why I like El Pollo Loco: It's not fried! A fast food restaurant offering chicken that is not fried and moreover chicken is on the grill cooking in plain sight is a rare thing in this country. (Maybe some would put El Pollo Loco under fast casual instead of simply fast food.) As of this writing, September, 2023, the prices are very reasonable. You can put dinner on the table for four people for just over five bucks a head with good protein. Chicken of course and with pintos and rice being a complete protein, you're set. If you want a fried treat, add some churros for a nice cinnamon-y dessert or keep them for your morning coffee. I've found the staff here to be very helpful. This is a busy location. There is a drive-thru, but I've only ordered at the counter. Indoor hard surfaces all look very clean. When I very first encountered a Pollo Loco years ago in L.A.. there was a self-serve salsa bar, and it very well may have had radishes and limes and all that. This place still has the long "bar" installed, but the metal serving containers are all completely empty. (COVID era health decisions) You have a choice of a few different salsas, maybe three, which are served in small plastic capped containers. Maybe a tablespoon in each. I'll measure another time. And I'll take pictures another time. I've tried their chicken-avocado burrito, the churros and a chicken meal deal with 8 pieces of chicken, flour and/or corn tortillas and three large sides. Why is it that every time I go here they can't get my order right? The 15-25 minute wait in the drive through line is to be expected. But the additional 5 minutes at the window to check my order and then hand my order back and forth from the car through the window to get the complete order is frustrating. The one time I'm in a hurry and don't check what is in the bag, I'm missing my salsa, the dressing for the tostada, the cheese and tortilla chips for the soup and there is no sour cream on the tostada.
