Hi everyone. Happiest of Monday's Eve's. Back from the first American Colony. Visited Jamestown, Newport News, Norfolk, and Carrollton Virginia visiting fam. Had a blast driving up to DC as well. I ate. Back and tonight did not feel up to cooking. Still, I ate, so this is just a first world review. I am grateful as ever that tonight, I was fortunate enough to not have to go to bed hungry as many on this blue marble will tonight, and many nights. That said, I try to extend that restaurants are entitled a bad night every so often. The rub is, we in the drive-thru or that come in, aren't given flexibility on having a bad night with our money. I can't hand less than full payment through the window and say I am having an off money night. Imagine your child has to make a paper mache volcano and had some leftover news paper and glue. Now have him construct a half chicken. Well that would be far more tender and appetizing than the chicken I had placed in a take out container at El Pollo Loco tonight. Nothing in the container, should have been in my bag tonight but the utensils and napkins. The rice, dry, flavorless. The beans, as if they came straight from a can. Unseasoned, watery, bland. How do you mess up beans? The flour tortillas were as if they had been left out to dry back into flour. The chicken was more like chicken jerky, than chicken. Imagine the driest breast, then apply that to each piece. This was paper mache. I asked if my sauces were in the bag at the pick up window. The server assured me they were. Got home, nope. No salsa's. Why would there be? Still, I ate. I am not going to bed hungry, just disappointed. More than likely won't go this late again. I did show up at almost 8 p.m. so there's that. Wow! What an amazing experience for our first time dining at El Pollo Loco! We were running errands close to the mall and our tummies were rumbling. We looked across the street and El Pollo Loco caught our eye. We'd been meaning to stop in. Shane welcomed us warmly and was patient while we figured out what we wanted to order. My wife decided on the guacamole burrito and I opted for the three taco combo which included chips and a drink. What a great deal! Talk about being excited when I saw the drink station. Aguas Frescas and Horchata and free refills. I am a very happy camper. The horchata was so delicious and refreshing. After a short wait our meal was ready. My wife's guacamole burrito was huge but so delicious. Next time we may share one. My 3 chicken tacos were wonderful. The grilled chicken had an awesome flavor and was so moist. Their salsa definitely has a kick, just like we like it. Super yummy queso. Our first visit will definitely not be our last. We will be back again very soon. read more

We started eating at El Pollo Loco a little more often lately. I never went before because the place never has many cars out front. I was worried the chicken may be cold or dried out. I was wrong the dark meat grilled chicken has been very fresh and juicy. The Charro beans as a side are great. I add the Pico and the green salsa to my beans it makes them even better. I use the flour tortilla to eat with the beans. I had a chicken burrito once it was also good. Down load the app to get deals. Like I said they are not very busy but the service is good at this location. They do have a few people coming inside when we are there. I hope they get busier the grilled chicken is good. They need to fix the air condition at this store. It has been warm/hot in this restaurant. This issue should be fixed soon I hope. read more

Pleasantly surprised! My husband and I had dinner here before going to the movies. I've never been to a El Pollo Loco. They have a great menu for everyone's tastes. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and everyone working was very pleasant. The double chicken and avocado salad was packed with protein and a great low carb option. The ingredients tasted fresh. I also ordered the small guac and chips. The guac is made fresh each day. My husband had the chicken bowl. He said it was very tasty and was surprised at how good the Mexican rice was (he's kind of picky with rice lol). I was looking for something healthier than typical fried options, and their fire-grilled chicken is always a great choice. I ordered the Original Pollo Bowl and a side of their famous avocado salsa. The chicken was incredibly juicy and had that distinct, delicious charbroiled flavor you can see them cooking on the grill as you walk in. The ingredients in my bowl--the pinto beans, Mexican rice, diced onions, and fresh cilantro--all tasted incredibly fresh and well-portioned for the price. Ive always liked their chicken avocado burritos. So I went in and ordered a chicken avocado burrito There were only three customers in the dining room and they were not very busy at all When I got my burrito it was wrapped loosely and ready to fall apart. It did not have any avocados in it at all. So I took it back and asked for some avocados. The lady brought me back, some wrapped up in paper, and when I opened it, ithere was only two small pieces of avocado. Maybe enough for two bites I was very disappointed, as there really was no excuse for this, especially when the place was so dead This seems like a company that feels entitled to get business just by being there and can afford to lose customers. There are 50 other places to get a burrito around here. I even called them about the issue and never heard back I really would have rather written a good review. Walked in with 3 other people and all had to wait a few minutes before being acknowledged. They were no where near being "slammed". The place is average size and clean but all lights in dining room were turned off, and it was dark. The food itself was good, chicken was juicy and rice and beans were on point. The corn tortillas were chilly cold, don't know if they had them in a cooler or not. I had my boyfriend stop by the drive thru here once so I could get a drink and he also grabbed himself a Chicken Avocado taco which was sooo good. So the next time we were in the area I suggested we go for lunch --- and because I had never been here before. I love that El Pollo Loco still has their amazing self serve salsa bar with a variety of salsas.
