I like to support local businesses so I had a beer and I would def recommend for everyone to try. Their michelada was also good. Let's talk about food! We ordered Tiradito, cucaracha (fried) shrimp, and a medium crab which was good for 3 people. Every dish was incredibly tasty. The standouts were the Tiradito made with fish, scallops, and abulone in a lemony sauce (superb!) and the garlic/butter crab which if you get it make sure to dip the warm tortillas in the garlic sitting in the pan below the crab! Heavenly food! Service: the gentleman that served us was so pleasant, friendly, and attentive to our every need. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and well served! Look beyond the modest surroundings and give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

I like watching Mark Weins and his adventures with food, as I am quite the foodie myself. Therefore, I found myself at Mariscos La Estrella or "Star Seafood." This place is located at the far end near the water and has a nice view, where you can see the fishermans' boats come ashore with fresh catches of the day. We walked in and were seated right away. They start you off with complimentary fresh tortilla chips and ceviche. The ceviche was okay but did not taste that fresh. My friend and I shared the region's signature delicacy, a Cangrejo Marciano, or "Martian Crab." We waited about 15 minutes for the order. The crab is large, deep fried in butter, served with beans, rice, and fresh tortillas. Unfortunately, I can't say it was out of this world. I believe this place is overhyped. Because the crab was deep fried, it shrunk and the crab meat in the claws were more shredded rather than in chunks, making it a lot of work to eat. While the concept is cool, as they give you a big rock to crack your crab... the meal was about average. I had to use a lot of lime to even out the butter flavor. The rice, beans, and tortillas were also a bit dry unfortunately. Service was great and our female server was very attentive, filling our waters and taking away our dishes promptly. It was nice to visit this place and I love supporting small businesses. However, I think I will try a different place next time for fresh fish. Overall 3.5 stars. Happy eating! Yelp Review #56- 2026

THIS IS A GEM. I…read morefound this on Yelp (never lets me down) and went during happy hour! This location is sort of in a normal strip mall, I was actually disappointed when I rolled up. But as I was looking at the menu outside, a gentleman came by and said everything here was amazing. High praise. The inside is very standard of a strip mall restaurant, and very clean! They have an oyster freezer and everything. We ordered two happy hour deKa which was AMAZINGLY priced. Ceviche for 8 dollars?!?! Poke nachos for 9?!?! I had to get both, along with the fish and chips. We took a seat and food came out relatively fast. Let me tell you... Presentation A+, quality A+, prices A+!! The ceviche was so delicious and tender. The poke nachos were loaded to the brim with baby scallops, tuna, and crab! The fish and chips was also delicious, thing amazingly fried light fish with fries that rival that delicious salty McDonald's fry we all crave. Absolutely sublime. All that for 40 bucks. Absolute steal. We loved everything, loved the service, and will be coming back often.

Came here during HH with my daughter... which is the best time to come, but come early as it does get PACKED! You order right when you walk up to the register and then find a table. HH is 3-6pm DAILY!! Their HH menu is the best deal and so very tasty! My HH favorites...The poke nachos, chowder fries and shishito peppers! My daughter really liked the lemon pepper wings (on the HH menu too). Not on the HH menu but two of my other favorites are the (garlicky) brussel sprouts and the spicy poke and crispy rice! HH - Craft beers are $5... can't beat that! This place is great addition to Scripps!! The owners are super friendly as well as the staff!

Gorgeous harbor views + fire fish & chips = quite possibly the perfect meal!…read more Everything you've heard about this spot is true. The fish & chips are some of the best around! The cuts of cod are HUGE and the batter is sooo crispy and fresh. Their tartar sauce is delish and pairs perfectly. For sides, you can do fries, coleslaw, beans, or salad- seriously can't go wrong here. Try to snag a table outside with harbor views for the best vibes :)

When we arrived, there was no line which was pretty shocking because every other time I've been here there's always been quite a line. The girl who took our order was friendly and quick. We also had drinks, but they only had iced tea and lemonade, and sodas were all out. We were given a receipt with a number on it and we went to find seating. There are several big picnic tables, but they were all in the sun despite having umbrellas and the patio was full so we ended up having to eat inside, which was very hot. While we waited the line got pretty long. Our order didn't take too long and we brought it back to the table after getting condiments like ketchup for our fries, tartar sauce for the fish and plenty of napkins. The portions are huge and could definitely be split. Everything was too hot to eat (no complaints there) so we started with the slaw. I'm not a big slaw fan but it was good. I broke apart the fish so it would cool faster. The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The chowder was thick and tasty but mostly potatoes and very few clams. The shrimp were perfectly cooked inside the thick batter. The fish was well breaded and tasted good. I just wish it was a bit less greasy. This is definitely a divey spot but it's an Oceanside institution and hits the spot when I'm craving fish and chips.
