El Paso sits in a place with a variety of Mexican restaurants around but is well worth a visit (having never visited the other locations). As you sit down, you're immediately greeted with smiles, menus, and chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were delicious and a great appetizer as I waited for my meal. This is a smaller diner-style restaurant great for a lunch break. I had the carne asada lunch special which came with rice, beans, lettuce, pico, sour cream, and tortillas. I opted for corn tortillas which were served in a tortilla warmer, warmed and grilled. The entire meal was exactly what you'd expect out of a Mexican restaurant with my only qualm being that I would've preferred more pico or more seasoning on some of the items and more attentive service when it came to refilling drinks. What a great restaurant! How did we miss this gem? Probably because of the plaza it's in. But inside, it was small, quaint, welcoming and very clean. I was looking for a fish taco with my son and daughter-in-law. What we found was a great selection of simple delicious, Mexican dishes at a great price. Fish taco authentic (radish, jalapeño, cilantro), grilled shrimp authentic and shredded chicken taco.. We also enjoyed the steak Quesada! Wow! And the fresh homemade hot sauce. Perfect heat! Topped off dinner with a flan that was firm and sweet. The best part? We came in within about 30 minutes of closing. I was a little nervous of this place from the mixed Yelp reviews, but my boyfriend and I decided to take a risk. It worked out great! The food was delicious and filling. I am a wimp about spicy food, while he is the one who dabbles with spice. My food did not burn my mouth at all, just like I requested, and he got two different types of sauce, mild and extremely hot, that fit his needs well. We just went for a quick work-week date dinner, but he said we should go back some day when we have more time to check out the bar. He is the one who is harder to please when it comes to price and quality, so hearing that he wants to go back is the highest compliment I can really give. 9/10, will go again some day. read more

It was much worse than you think - they disrespectful my mom and doesn't care what you think or uncomfortable when she asked. They disrespect my mom and my whole family when my mom asked them in a nice way two times and they being mean to her in front of everyone like they don't give a sh**. I went here with my friend and we ordered 6 tacos (carne molida x2, lengua, barbacoa, carne asada, tripe). So good!!! My favorite was the tripe (if you haven't ever had tripe before, this is the place to try it). Don't knock it until you try it! I've had tripe before but this is the best I've had! The lengua was tender but a little lacking in flavor. Carne asada and molida are good! It's hard to mess those up because those are so classically served everywhere! Barbacoa was also tender and delicious but also lacking in a bit of flavor. The place is super cute and nice to sit and chill! The waitress we had was super friendly and even chatted with us. Was there last night celebrating, they have made some changes, prices have gone up a bit. I ordered some tostones to share. Menu clearly said (5) tostones or maduros, so when only 3 arrived at the table And I asked the waitress about the other 2 she must have called the owner who was outside and walked in past the table mean muggin' everyone on her way to sitting at the bar and talking to the waitress. The explanation we got then from the waitress was "these are were Hawaiian plantains so the tostones are bigger so you only get 3." Something which should be clarified in the menu. Tostones don't cost that much, and definitely not worth paying $1 a piece for them. Change your menu or change your attitude. When a customer is spending $120 at your establishment this should not have been a difficult decision for you and has cost you now repeat business from two different families. read more

Absolutely authentic !!! There's a lot of places that claim to be truly authentic, and by all standards and means they are. This place takes it one level higher. First, the location. The restaurant is located in the back part of a small strip mall at the North-East corner of the Southern Boulevard and Military Trail intersection which looks and feels like you're in Tijuana, Mexico. The adjacent businesses are a Dominican cafe, a liquor store, a pool hall, a barber shop, a Latin nightclub and right in the middle of it all is, El Paso Taco. We walked in and sat down. There wasn't a Tom, Dick nor Harry in the place but I'd bet the tab that there were a couple of Juans and Marias. The table next to us was a six man lawn crew kicking back after work and the three or four guys sItting at the bar where to busy munching down on their meals to think about happy hour. The rest of the tables were occupied by a couple of families and a pair of margarita drinking señoritas celebrating a weekday night. Sounds pretty sketchy right ? Well, it wasn't, the place is terrific and it's 100% real !!! The service was excellent and everything we ordered was delicious and served promptly. I highly recommend the seafood burrito, served wet with rice and beans. For dessert the flan was amazing. Another pleasant surprise was the bill, the price of the meal was well below what we expected. All in all, El Paso Taco proved that you can't judge a book by its cover. read more

The most authentic Mexican restaurant in South Florida! The tacos are incredible! Authentic style served with onion and cilantro and a roasted jalepeno. Tacos are a la carte so pick a few different meats to mix things up. I had chorizo, carne asada, Chile verde and rojo. All were delicious! Meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. Very hidden in a strip mall, this not very eye-catching Mexican restaurant is definitely not a place I would seek out but if you're hungry and in the area, the food is not too shabby. For a tequila bar, the margaritas are very good though! I tried the honey bee and it was delicious!! Not super strong but decent. The servers were not very attentive. We walked in and sat ourselves. After 5 mins, someone came to drop off menus. Another 10 mins, dropped off chips and salsa. Then came back after another 5 mins to take our order. I got the chicken enchiladas. Tucked in a somewhat hard to find location, as it is a strip mall within another strip mall (literally, as there is a stripper joint in the initial strip mall), is this somewhat small, casual establishment. The ambiance is somewhat dead, at least it was for lunch time on a chilly Saturday, with TVs playing some music videos that kept featuring scantily clad women, and not much else. The decor's not exactly plentiful or cheerful, looks outdated (especially those menu item pictures on the wall) and there weren't many people around. Those that were eating there just kept to themselves. We kept having a different waitress at different points throughout the meal, and one kept forgetting to refill our chips and salsa. The waitresses were okay, but I got the impression that they would rather be any place but here, based on their mannerisms and attitudes. We were initially brought the complimentary staple of Mexican food -- chips and salsa. The salsa was tasty, and of a good consistency. My friend and I weren't sure why it took about 20 minutes to refill the chips and salsa, but perhaps they had to make it fresh? Then again, it was probably more of a case of forgetfulness, as I mentioned earlier. The menu has decent selections and the prices are quite reasonable, with weekday lunch specials being dirt cheap. I decided to go with the Chiles Rellenos, while my friend got the Chile Colorado. The portions were hefty and the food was tasty. I would give the food 3.5 stars as the food had a homey authenticity to it, and it satisfied our craving for Mexican food. The presentation and the cobalt blue dish were also visually appealing. My friend got flan for dessert but refused to share. I guess it must have been pretty good. While I don't find myself in this part of South Florida very often, El Paso Taco is a solid option to satisfy that Mexican craving, so I would definitely consider returning. read more

I usually come to this restaurant before the afternoon and I found that if you come by after 12pm , their drinks aren't really mixed well or the food will come out a little bit cold. I wanted to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with some Mexican cuisine, but was way up in West Palm Beach. Decided to give El Paso Taco a try for Friday evening dinner. Shared the Chips & Guacamole, a Burrito Mojados with Carnitas, and the Mexican Combination, along with a Frozen Margarita. Quality I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the food at El Paso Taco. For essentially a hole in the wall Mexican joint, the food was solid. My favorite dish was the Burrito Mojados with Carnitas, which is a wet burrito covered in red sauce and cheese. The carnitas meat was soft and moist, making each bite gooey and delicious. The Mexican Combination is a good choice if you can't make a decision on what you want to eat. It comes with a taco, we chose a ground beef soft taco, an enchilada, we choose chicken, pork chile verde, then rice and beans. The pork chile verde was a bit strange, but all the other parts were tasty. I was impressed with the refried beans, which usually is something I avoid, but the mastery of all the different types of meat is impressive. I did not really love the Guacamole, which was just too sweet and needed more salt. I would suggest just sticking to the chips and salsa that comes out first. The Frozen Margarita meanwhile was very good and unlike many frozen drinks you could definitely tell they added some alcohol. Quantity All of the dishes are very large especially when you add in the large scoops of rice and refried beans they come with. Along with a basket of chips and you will leave more than satisfied with your meal. Value Extremely reasonable prices for both the food and the drinks. It is definitely a casual dining experience, but big portions and solid food make it a good value. Ambiance El Paso Taco is located in a strip mall in West Palm Beach very close to the west side of the airport. It is listed merely as Mexican Restaurant on the strip mall sign, but when you turn in you cannot miss it. Bright lights and blaring latin music cause it to stand out. They have a few tables outside directly in front of the door, but the music was irritating so we sat inside. Inside it has a very casual feel. It is a good sized restaurant with tons of seating. They have couches along the right wall, lots of large tables in the center, and a bar in the back left corner. The walls are all painted in a Spanish style with different scenery portraits. The back wall is covered with pictures of all the different food items in case you need to see before you order. They have several televisions hanging on the walls and unlike outside the inside music was at a much more reasonable volume. Crowd It was Cinco De Mayo so the restaurant was pretty busy. When we arrived we snagged the last table and there was a short wait for a seat for the rest of the time we were there. It is a casual and family friendly restaurant, and many of the patrons had children and babies with them. Service There were only a few waitresses working on a busy evening, but they still did a good job. They were constantly covering for each other and we never went more than a few minutes before getting what we needed. The food also came out pretty fast, which considering how busy it was is a promising sign. Parking The restaurant is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Even on a busy evening we managed to get a spot directly in front of the restaurant. Extra I did not know what to expect out of El Paso Taco, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. I'd prefer this to "Tacos Al Carbon", for quick hole-in-the-wall dining. However, a better option is "Crazy Taco" one block North. I feel that's the best Mexican within several miles. I've tried everything on their menu at this point, nothing has been great. The tacos are their best option; reliable and tasty. Prices are excellent, possibly their best quality. The service is good (a bit scarce with some errors in translation, but overall good) and the restaurant is not as clean as you might expect. Upon walking in you see a decent bar, a few flat screens, booths & tables, and a picture wall of the food menu. Not sure the food picture wall is needed, kind of takes away from what's good. And what's good, no I mean great was the food. Upon sitting down immediately a basket of warm fried tortilla chips & a deep smoky flavored homemade chunky spicy salsa gets delivered, great start. Since I was starving after a 3 hour plane ride, I ordered the Mexican combo lunch. When my plate arrived I was pleasantly surprised. First it all came piping hot, literally steaming, finally a restaurant that gets that right. My enchilada was covered in a vibrant deep homemade enchilada sauce, my taco had fresh greens, ice cold sour cream and guacamole over a Mexican beef, and my rice and beans were delicious. I was in foodie glory. Then after paying and getting ready to leave I noticed a serious espresso machine and ordered cafe con leche strong and sweet. This place was on my growing list of local Mexican places to try in Palm Beach county. Its in a crummy plaza but ultimately its the food and service that counts. The flour tortilla was pressed so that it would hold together well. Came with lettuce and guac on the side. Average burrito at best, carne asada lacked flavor. The tacos kind of saved the meal though. I got them the traditional way with just onions and cilantro. They came with sliced jalepenos, diced radishes, lime and a cooked onion on the side. The chorizo and carnitas were decent but the chile rojo was excellent. Service was fine for me other than having to wait a little bit to get acknowledged when I walked in. Check took a while as there was only one waitress during dinner hours. An older couple sitting behind me started to walk out because it was taking so long for them to have their order taken. Overall, I kind of agree with the reviewer who said that this is definitely authentic Mexican, just not THAT good. The prices are very cheap though, menu is varied and they do takeout which is probably a better option than dining in. read more

I always grab a couple soft tacos carne asada in corn tortillas and a Jarritos soda! I am very picky about carne asada. They chop their steak small to bring out the most flavor, and there is no grissel or fat. I am also very picky about salsa. It has to be the right consistency y sabor! They have one of the top 2 salsas in West Palm Beach! If you are driving down Southern take Military North, and it is right there next to Rumbás!
